Popular college football podcast picks Spartans to exceed expectations in 2025

USA Today4 hours ago
It's predictions season, and one popular college football podcast likes Michigan State to exceed expectations in 2025.
Michigan State comes into this season looking to snap a three-year bowl drought, with the Spartans again pegged to be right around the bowl eligibility cutline. But for one popular college football podcast, Michigan State will easily surpass the six win threshold in 2025.
The Undergrad CFB podcast released their game-by-game predictions for Michigan State next season and have the Spartans finishing 8-4 overall and 5-4 in Big Ten play. The popular podcast has the Spartans picking up notable wins over Boston College, UCLA, Indiana, Michigan and Iowa this season.
I personally have some similar game-by-game predictions that I'll be releasing in the coming weeks ahead of the season. So this prediction from The Undergrad CFB account is not far off from my personal opinion, but definitely is higher on the Spartans than most of the national or regional media.
Check out the complete game-by-game predictions below:

Notre Dame star is named to the 2025 Walter Camp Player of the Year watch list

Add another preseason accolade to the list for Notre Dame star running back Jeremiyah Love. The Walter Camp preseason first-team All-American has been named to the 2025 Walter Camp player of the year Watch List. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. The 6-foot, 206-pound Fighting Irish junior ran for 1,125 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2024, and he caught 28 passes for 237 yards and two receiving scores. Included in those numbers is his school record-tying 98-yard touchdown run on the third play of the first-round College Football Playoff game against Indiana. Big things are expected this fall, in what could be his final season in South Bend. Love and the Irish begin their quest to return to the CFP when they open at Miami on August 31. Notre Dame coach Mike Mickens to be inducted into Cincinnati Athletics 2025 Hall of Fame

It's been a notable offseason for Notre Dame, from great success on the recruiting trail to various preseason honors, and the Fighting Irish can add one more accolade to the group. Defensive backs coach Mike Mickens has been named one of six inductees into the University of Cincinnati's Athletics 2025 Hall of Fame class. It's a big honor for the former Bearcats cornerback. Mickens was a first-team FWAA All-American In 2007 and a four-time all-Big East selection who remains the program's career leader in interceptions with 14. He starred for the Bearcats from 2005-08, appearing in 47 games under Mark Dantonio and former Fighting Irish boss Brian Kelly. In addition to his record for picks, he recorded 234 tackles (nine for a loss), a sack and a forced fumble. Three of his interceptions were also returned for touchdowns. Men's and Women's NCAA Tournament expansion on hold for now but discussions will continue

Sanity has prevailed in men's and women's college least for now. Expansion of the NCAA Tournament has been a hot topic of discussion this offseason for both the men's and women's format. However, NCAA senior vice president Dan Gavitt gave an update on the future of expansion on Monday, as he announced that it is off the table for 2025-26. However, discussions will continue for 2026-27 and beyond, so changes could still be coming, just not for this upcoming season. The tournament was great at 64 teams, and 68 has been fun too. But will it be worth it to include even more bubble teams? Of course, money is a mover and shaker, so it seems we will get a bigger tournament sooner than later.
