Alabama football stays hot on recruiting trail with 2026 WR
It took the Alabama football team a little while to heat up on the recruiting trail, but it has arrived. The Crimson Tide have heated up, and they kept the momentum going on Monday with a commitment from three-star 2026 wide receiver Owen Cabell. Cabell was getting heavy interest from schools in the Big Ten and SEC as Illinois and Vanderbilt were also high on his list, but he chose Alabama. Head coach Kalen DeBoer is getting the job done in the 2026 class right now.

'BREAKING: Class of 2026 WR Owen Cabell has Committed to Alabama, he tells me for @rivalsrecruits,' Hayes Fawcett said in a post. 'The 6'3 205 WR from Nashville, TN chose the Crimson Tide over Illinois and Vanderbilt.'
Owen Cabell kept it short and sweet upon his commitment to the Alabama football team:
'All Glory to GOD!! Roll Tide!!' He said.
Cabell is a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He is the #1,046 player in the 2026 recruiting class, the #165 WR and the #37 player in the state of Tennessee. Cabell currently attends CPA High School in Nashville, TN. He does have an offer from Tennessee, but Alabama was the right fit.

Like most years, the Alabama football team is recruiting at an incredibly high level. Kalen DeBoer didn't have a great first year on the gridiron with the Crimson Tide as Alabama failed to win 10 games for the first time since 2007, but he is doing a good job on the recruiting trail. If DeBoer continues to bring elite talent to Tuscaloosa, the program should be fine.
Following this commitment from Owen Cabell, the Crimson Tide now have the #8 recruiting class in the country, according to 247Sports. Alabama has landed commitments from two five-stars, eight four-stars and five three-stars. When all is said and done in the 2026 class, the Crimson Tide will likely have one of the best hauls in the country.

Steelers WR Calvin Austin III named Pittsburgh's offseason surprise
One of the biggest questions the Pittsburgh Steelers need to answer in training camp is which wide receiver will win the starting spot opposite DK Metcalf this upcoming season. Heading into training camp, the Steelers are going to have a three-man battle for the spot between Calvin Austin III, Robert Woods and Roman Wilson. ESPN named one offseason surprise for every team after minicamps, and for the Steelers, they picked Austin. Here's what ESPN Steelers writer Brooke Pryor had to say about Austin. Advertisement Since trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, the Steelers are squarely in need of a No. 2 wide receiver to complement DK Metcalf. WR coach Zach Azzanni, though, believes they already have someone in the building to fill that role. "I think that '2' spot is all Calvin's right now," Azzanni said during the Steelers' minicamp. Selected 86 picks after Pickens in 2022, Austin missed his entire rookie year with an injury but has turned into a steady contributor in each of his last two seasons. Austin was just behind Pickens last season, averaging 15.2 yards per reception, and he hauled in four touchdowns to Pickens' three. Austin still has to build chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but he made plays throughout the Steelers' OTAs and minicamp with Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and Will Howard throwing him the football. If Austin looked the best in offseason work on offense for the Steelers, the next best was fellow receiver Wilson. Wilson missed his entire rookie campaign with an injury and looked tremendous as well. Austin's experience with the team gives him an edge and if he's 100 percent healthy, he should have a very strong season. The Boston Celtics still need to make another trade
The Boston Celtics still need to make another trade. After having dealt away champion vets Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to get under the NBA's dreaded second apron and the penalties the league's collective bargaining agreement (CBA) were due to hit Boston with given their (at the time) potentially historic payroll in a season star forward Jayson Tatum will be out healing from a torn Achilles tendon, getting those cap savings were critical. But the team has since made a few signings that will put them back above the second apron unless they make additional cost-cutting trades. Given what we know about the team building penalties and tax the Celtics are trying to avoid while building a team for the future, it is safe to say more moves are soon to come. Advertisement The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk it over. Check it out below!
