Dog worrying livestock in Powys investigated by police
The incident happened sometime between 6pm and 6.30pm on Monday (July 7) in the Castle Road and Crosslikey area of Churchstoke.
Dyfed-Powys Police have not given details about what type of animals were injured or how many were involved.
"Livestock worrying is a criminal offence and comes under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Act 1953," police said in a social media post warning people that the details could be "distressing" for some.
"This isn't just a threat to a farmer or landowner's livelihood, it's also a dangerous situation for the animals involved, and could lead to more risk if the animals get onto the road.
"Always keep your dog under control around other animals and if you see a dog on the loose worrying animals, report it to us."

Van torched in Clydebank as blaze spreads to parked cars in early hours attack
Shocked neighbours watched on from their front doors as the inferno spread to other vehicles. Cops have launched a probe after a van was torched on a Scots street with the blaze spreading to other vehicles. Emergency services raced to Angus Street in Clydebank after the alarm was raised at around 12.35am on Wednesday, July 9. Fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze, but a number of cars were also damaged after it quickly spread. Footage, which was shared with the Record, showed the van engulfed in flames after what police have deemed as the 'wilful' attack. Shocked neighbours can be seen watching on from their front doors as one moves their own vehicle away from the inferno. In a second clip fire crews can be seen battling the blaze as smoke billows up into the sky. A final clip, which was taken this morning, shows both the van and two vehicles which were parked nearby completely destroyed, with melted debris seen scattered across the road. Terrified locals have told how they awoke to the sound of explosions after the vehicle went up in flames. One person said: "The van was deliberately set on fire on a quiet cul-de-sac full of families, including my daughter and my grandchildren. "It burnt out my son-in-laws car which was next to it and damaged another car. It's disgusting. Thankfully no one was injured." Another added: "It must have been full of Calor Gas Bottles or something - it was worse than the fireworks. We got a fright." Police quickly launched a probe and detectives have now confirmed that the fire is being treated as wilful. Officers are appealing for information. It is not believed the incident is currently being treated as linked to the recent gangland incidents which have been taking place across Scotland. Detective Constable Iain McGill said: ' Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who has any information to contact us. 'I would ask anyone who was in the area and who may have dash cam footage or private CCTV footage which could assist to get in touch.' Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 0126 of July 9, 2025 or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: 'We were alerted at 12.43am on Wednesday, July 9 to reports of two vehicles on fire on Angus Street in Clydebank. 'Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene, and the fires were extinguished. There were no casualties, and crews left the area after ensuring it was safe.'

Small business owner 'gutted' as vandals target shop A Welsh business owner faces being hundreds of pounds out of pocket after finding his shop 'smashed in' A Newport-based business found itself the target of a vandal (Image: Jay's Barbers ) An independent barber has been left counting the cost after his shop window was smashed in with a brick in a targeted act of vandalism. Jamie Cork, owner of Jay's Barbers in Newport, arrived at his shop on Saturday, July 5, to find the front window shattered and a brick left inside. The small business has been running for just over a year, without any previous issues. "I have never had any problems at all, so it caught me off guard," Jamie shared. "Since this has happened, I have been made aware that another business has had similar problems and it has been said on social media that some homes have been targeted in the area too." Jamie had closed the shop as usual at 6pm on Friday, July 4. When returning for his shift at 8am the following day, he discovered the damage. "My cousin had picked me up as I was cutting his hair. We drove past and I noticed that the window was smashed in. "I was just gutted," he said. "It's a small business and I work alone - it's just not something you expect to turn up to." "I don't have a sign above the shop, so the window displayed all my details - the name, logo, contact, Instagram - and was a way to welcome people in. I've been leaving my window open now, just to show people that I am open." The cost of the damage, in addition to having the window boarded up, is estimated at hundreds of pounds. Despite the incident, the shop remains open for business as police investigate.
