Amarnath Yatra: J&K LG flags off first batch, says undeterred by terror incidents, devotees arriving in huge numbers, demonstrating immense faith
The Lieutenant Governor extended best wishes to all the pilgrims for a safe and blissful journey.
'This sacred pilgrimage is a journey of faith and self-discovery. Wishing all spiritual seekers a safe and comfortable journey to the holy abode of Lord Shiva and deep soul-stirring experience,' the Lieutenant Governor said.
Interacting with the media persons, the Lieutenant Governor said that undeterred by terror incidents, devotees of Bhole Baba are arriving in huge numbers, demonstrating their immense faith.
"I hope that this year's Yatra will be even more historic than previous years,' the Lieutenant Governor said.
The administration, people of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, J&K Police, and security forces have made elaborate arrangements for the pilgrims, he said.
'More than 4,500 devotees set off to the holy Cave Shrine in the first batch for the darshan of Baba Barfani today. Jammu city has come alive with a new vibrancy. The enthusiasm of pilgrims is very high," he said.
Eminent spiritual leaders; heads of religious organizations; public representatives; senior officers of civil administration, Police, security forces and Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, prominent citizens, and devotees in large number were present at the Flag-off ceremony.

'I will meet President H.E. Mrs. Christine Carla Kangaloo, who was the Chief Guest at this year's Pravasi Bhartiya Divas, and Prime Minister H.E. Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who has recently assumed office for the second term. 'Indians first arrived in Trinidad and Tobago 180 years ago. 2nd batch of 5,246 Amarnath pilgrims starts from Jammu base camp
JAMMU: The second batch of 5,246 pilgrims left for the holy cave shrine of Amarnath from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu under unprecedented security cover Thursday morning. Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of 5,485 pilgrims on Wednesday. Authorities have set up 34 accommodation centres across Jammu for the distribution of RFID tags to pilgrims, while 12 counters have been set up for the on-the-spot registration of yatris. Over 3.5 lakh people have registered themselves online for the pilgrimage so far.

Another viral video showed a fruit vendor allegedly spitting on apples and wiping them before selling. Speaking to reporters after reviewing the preparations with senior officials, Dhami said, 'Efforts are on to ensure that the Kanwariyas coming to Haridwar return with a good experience. Incidents of 'spit jihad' have happened during the Kanwar Yatra earlier. I have asked officials to ensure they are not repeated.' The annual Kanwar Yatra, beginning on July 11, sees Lord Shiva's devotees from various states come to Haridwar to collect Ganga water. Dhami also told reporters that the government's recent order requiring hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and other roadside eateries along the Yatra route to display food licences prominently is aimed at ensuring impure food is not served to devotees. However, he requested devotees to follow the Yatra rules, saying, 'They shouldn't cause sound pollution by playing loud DJs. They should also keep the Kanwar size within the prescribed limits.' Last year, the Uttarakhand government had also issued guidelines to prevent incidents of 'spitting in food,' with fines reaching up to ₹ 1 lakh. The state police and health departments had released separate guidelines requiring police verification of hotel and dhaba staff, and installation of CCTV cameras in kitchens. Similarly, the Meerut district administration has mandated that all food joints along the Kanwar Yatra route must prominently display key information, including food item lists and prices. The food safety department has been tasked with ensuring that all food outlets display their mandatory food safety registration certificates, which must include the owner's name and registration number.
