Jordan launches relief campaign for Gaza during International Food Festival
- 5 trucks loaded with food and medical supplies dispatched - Initiative will deliver a total of 300 tonnes of food aid to Gaza - Donation channels remain open during the festival - Proceeds from festival will be dedicated to support children in Gaza AMMAN — The Jordan International Food Festival (JIFF), in coordination with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), launched a humanitarian relief campaign on Monday to support people in the war-torn Gaza Strip. A convoy of five trucks carrying food and medical supplies was dispatched from the festival site, with contributions from participating companies, institutions, individuals, and private sector representatives. Organisers said the initiative aims to deliver 300 tonnes of aid to Gaza in three phases over the course of the festival. The phased approach is intended to ensure a continuous flow of assistance and meet urgent humanitarian needs in the Strip. Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board Abdul Razzaq Arabiat reaffirmed Jordan's steadfast support for Gaza, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah. 'Jordan continues to carry out its humanitarian responsibilities using all available resources and within a sustainable framework that reflects the Kingdom's solidarity with the people of Gaza,' Arabiat said, adding that the initiative aligns with the festival's mission, which combines cultural and economic elements with national values of generosity and support. Tourism Board spokesperson Anas Adwan described the campaign as part of the private sector's social responsibility and the Kingdom's broader humanitarian commitment. He added that donation channels will remain open throughout the festival, encouraging continued public participation. Festival Director Jihan Sahawneh highlighted the festival's role in promoting humanitarian action and empowering local communities. She noted that JIFF supports youth-led initiatives and start-ups in the food and kitchen production sectors, while also showcasing Jordanian cuisine and cultural diversity. This year's festival features 165 entrepreneurial projects, including 76 women-led initiatives, 180 Jordanian restaurants, and 20 food manufacturing companies. It also supports 38 local communities through production kitchens, handicrafts, and cultural exhibitions. The Tourism Board announced that proceeds from the festival, taking place in Amman from August 6 to 11, will be donated to support children in Gaza.

Aurora renews powerful call for solidarity with Palestine
Norwegian singer Aurora recently shared a powerful Instagram story expressing solidarity with Palestine. The story's message read: 'You take my water, burn my olive trees, destroy my house, take my job, steal my land, imprison my father, kill my mother, bomb my country, starve us all, humiliate us all — but I'm to blame for my resistance.' This is not Aurora's first public stance in support of Palestine. Last month, she sang at a solidarity protest in Bergen, Norway, further demonstrating her commitment to the cause. In 2024, during her performance at the Glastonbury Festival in England, Aurora delivered a heartfelt speech standing with children affected by war in Palestine, Sudan, Congo, and Yemen. She held up a sign reading, 'No child should be part of war.' In an interview with Pop Crave last year, Aurora addressed potential backlash for speaking out, saying: 'There's a lot of trouble when you are vocal about things. You do get in a lot of trouble. But, as a human, nothing else makes sense and if I don't do it, the music I write will stop making sense and even that won't be real anymore. I think it's kind of just being decent. It's the bare minimum to be a human in your work as well.'

Vinicius Junior warned Real Madrid contract stand off could ‘backfire'
Ammon News - Real Madrid and Vinicius Junior remain blocked over talks for a new deal that could keep the Brazil international at the club long-term. The main issue focuses on the demands reportedly changing on the player's end with the two parties now no longer in conversations over a possible renewal. With two years remaining on his deal, speculation has ramped up over his future, with the Los Blancos No.7 the subject of constant interest from the Saudi Pro League, with figures of a €300m transfer fee and a €1bn contract being thrown around. In February, Vinicius reportedly met with Saudi officials to hear their offer. Yet it all seemed to have settled down in March as reports emerged of he and Real Madrid agreeing terms on a new contract. Vinicius is keen to stay at Real Madrid, as per Diario AS, with the latest indicating he is not contemplating leaving the Spanish capital and his intention is to sign a new contract. Real Madrid are keen to resolve the issue, as they believe there is no player on the market like him, despite rumours of president Florentino Perez being open to an exit if he can bring in Erling Haaland. Perez will be central to what comes next and former Real Madrid defender Rafa Aklkorta warned Vinicius not to take him on. 'Trying to pressure on Florentino Perez can backfire, as it did with Sergio Ramos,' as per Diario Sport.
