Jess Glynne 'suffers HUGE career blow' after her first album in six-years flops and crashes out of the charts

Daily Mail23-04-2025
Jess Glynne has reportedly suffered a huge blow after her first album in nearly six years failed to reignite her music career.
The songstress, 35, who previously scored a whopping seven UK No1s, has parted ways with record label EMI after her third record Jess, which was released in April 2024, debuted at at No6 before crashing out of the charts entirely a week later.
Jess signed with the label, who also represent the likes of Taylor Swift and Rihanna, to much fanfare in 2022 but after her first release with them failed to garner any Top 40 singles, their 'less than fruitful' relationship has now come to an end.
A source told The Sun: 'Jess knows plenty about having massive hit singles, so there was a lot of excitement when she signed her deal with EMI Records. But it's not exactly been the fruitful relationship that either had hoped.
'The album didn't do as well as anyone wanted, and none of the singles even graced the Top 40 She's had a tough time reintroducing herself to the public after a few years away.
Before adding: 'Both she and the label decided it was for the best to stop working together. But Jess isn't letting it dampen her spirits. She is already working on new music and is planning her next moves.'
MailOnline have contacted Jess' reps for comment.
Jess' previous albums 2015's I Cry When I Laugh and 2018's Always In Between, both topped the UK charts and spawned numerous hit singles.
In 2015 she appeared on Clean Bandits' song Rather Be, which won her a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Recording and Ivor Novello Award.
She's also collaborated with the likes of Little Mix and Tinie Tempah as well as appearing as a judge on The Voice Australia.
Earlier this month Jess shared an insight into her relationship with Alex Scott as she shared a monthly round up of photos.
The singer and TV Presenter, 40, who have been romantically linked since October 2023, loved as loved up as ever in the Instagram update.
Posing for a selfie the couple stuck their tongues out for a fun photo, while a clip showed them mocking each other in the back of a car.
Jess also gave her followers an insight into her recent trips abroad, including on of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
She captioned the carousel of photos: 'March you were an adventure.'
Alex recently told how she and Jess have ' become the same person' since moving in together in a rare comment about their relationship.
Detailing her daily routine in The Times, Alex wrote: 'I wake up next to my partner, Jess, who has become the same person as me over the past year and a half'.
'She can see what going to the gym does for me mentally, so she'll do the same'.
It was recently rumoured that the pair are considering a permanent move across the pond.
Alex's future at the BBC has reportedly been thrown into doubt, with sources claiming she's been 'deeply hurt' by a 'lack of support' surrounding Football Focus.
The presenter is thought to have made a complaint to channel bosses last year after the their response to criticism she faced around the show's low viewing figures.
According to The Sun, Alex is now thought to be 'considering other offers,' and is even contemplate a move to the US with girlfriend Jess, as her BBC contract is up for renewal next year.

Love Island's Lucy reveals truth behind voicenote as she admits she DID send message to ex pal

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LOVE Island's Lucy has finally revealed the truth behind the mystery voicenote that exposed her as a "gameplayer". The Sun revealed last week a 37-second recording, where she plots to couple with popular Tommy Bradley as a surefire way to make the final. The pair joined Maya Jama on Love Island Aftersun tonight to address the infamous voicenote that has gone viral on social media. Lucy explained: "So obviously, like, we've probably all done it... sent voicenotes to friends and obviously I really did trust that friend and with the Tommy situation, I was obviously saying he's a very nice boy and that's why I wanted to get to know him. "I did say till the end, but it weren't the final, I meant the end... I would like to be with him in the future. "Someone with really good morals and also before going on the show, my dad did say to me he's the kind of boy he'd like me to bring home because he's very respectful." The Liverpudlian then apologised for her "rude" comments about Megan after she branded her a "f**king little slapper". Lucy continued: "Obviously to talk about Megan as well, I should never have commented on someone I'd never met before, so I do really apologise about that because I'm not that type of girl and it was very rude of me to do that as well." Tommy then tried to defend Lucy following the backlash she's since received. He told Maya: "You said as well, at the time, we're all just characters on the screen to her. "I know you were very excited to be going on one of the biggest reality show's in the country... emotions were high and you were speaking to one of your close friends. Watch Love Island Helena's fuming reaction as Harry rates ex Emma's kiss better than hers in saucy challenge "I think it's been blown out of proportion a little bit because I've said things to my friends in group chats, which if got leaked, it might have made me look like a bad person, but it's just to your mate, you never expect everyone to listen to it." Maya insisted: "That's definitely not a good friend, I hope you blocked her after that." Lucy admitted she's no longer pals with the person who leaked it. The voice note, which was revealed last Friday, said: "I've got a phone call today by the way, saying they want to fly me out on Tuesday or Monday. "So they said to me on Sunday they'll let me know for 100 percent, but looks like I'm f**king going on one of those days. So they were like, get your stuff packed basically. "I was like, I'm already packed love. They asked me for my top three boys. "I said, Tommy, I want Tommy. I feel like if I'm with Tommy I feel like I'll get all the way to the end. "Because everyone loves him. I don't know if you've been watching it but that Megan's being sent home and I'm f**king made up. "And she's being sent home because of the way she's treated Tommy. "And do you know what, I'm made up that I've been watching it because I know how to act. "Because she's being a f**king little slapper in there. "The public have voted her out. So I just need to be left a nice girl and just f**king stick with Tommy." Irish beauty Megan Forte Clarke was axed after her love triangle with Conor Phillips and Tommy led her to be voted one of the three least popular girls by the public. The contestants then chose to evict her, along with Remell Mullins as the least popular boy. After Casa Amor, Lucy walked into the main villa holding hands with smitten Tommy, who dumped Emily Moran to be with her. Emily was left shell-shocked having stayed loyal to Tommy and given a heartfelt speech in which she said she couldn't wait to see him. Tommy told the gathered Islanders how he had a better connection with Lucy; the pair had spent the past few days glued together sharing lots of kisses. Sheepish Lucy admitted it was difficult entering the villa in such a "s****y situation". When host Maya Jama told the group that Emily was dumped from the Island.

Love Island couple 'to split' as new love triangle forms days before final

Helena was fuming in the latest episode and left questioning if her couple with Harry was 'one-sided' after Harry went for another flirty chat with new bombshell Angel Love Island star Helena was left 'fuming' in Sunday night's episode after Harry went for another chat with new bombshell Angel. Helena was sitting at the firepit with Connor and watched as Harry went into the snug with Angel, before she decided to step in and pull him away for a chat. ‌ Helena told Connor: "If he's acting like this infront of my face here, imagine what he would act like on the outside", as she questioned if their relationship was 'one-sided'. Helena then told Harry she didn't appreciate him flirting with Angel, before Harry agreed and said he needed to 'bin it'. ‌ Helena was also unhappy after the latest kissing challenge where Harry voted Shakira and Emma as better kissers than Helena, despite her trying to give him clues that it was her kissing him. ‌ It comes after the villa's latest bombshell walked in and was immediately coupled up with Ty. Angelique 'Angel' Swift became one of the new entrants to ITV's long-running dating show this week, and the ripple effects were immediate. Lauren, who had been coupled with Ty, was made single and therefore dumped from the Love Island villa. While Angel is coupled up with Ty, she has also expressed her interest towards Harry, who is currently coupled up with Helena. ‌ Harry and Helena have embarked on an on-off relationship since the show started and haven't yet 'closed things off', with Harry saying in Friday evening's episode that he is 'open' to getting to know bombshell Angel. Only time will tell if he has a better connection with Angel than he has with Helena. Angel's relationship history reportedly included TOWIE star Dan Edgar, who has appeared on the reality series since 2015 and famously previously dated co-star Ella Rae Wise. ‌ Dan and Ella began dating in early 2024 but broke up at the beginning of this year. In recent months, Dan and Angel reportedly got close. However, it seems the romance did not pan out as Angel is searching for love in the villa. A friend of the dating show star told The Sun: "They were together during one of the May bank holidays in Marbella and spent time hanging out. They were seen at various events, it was casual dating, but they had fun together." A friend of Dan also told the outlet: "It was just one date really, and it was after he split from Ella. Dan was very much single at the time."

Police are probing the contestant's allegations made, The Sun understands, after they returned from their luxury 'honeymoon'. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 1 A Married At First Sight star claims to have been sexually assaulted by their new partner during filming The 'non-recent' claim was reported on June 14 but we are not revealing the names of those involved, or the police force, for legal reasons. Scenes surrounding the alleged victim have already been aired. It is the latest scandal to hit the Channel 4 show — now in its ninth season — which sees 'relationship experts' match up singletons. The couple first meet at the altar before the honeymoon, after which they live together in a complex in the UK before deciding whether to split up. They are also filmed at dinner parties and a commitment ceremony. Channel 4, which advertises the show as a 'bold, social experiment', initially denied a complaint had been made before coming clean. A source said: 'It's a nightmare scenario for them. 'The show's been criticised for throwing strangers together and sending them on honeymoon for viewers' entertainment. "Now it's alleged someone was assaulted after tying the knot. "It is a disastrous look for bosses.' MAFS star gets engaged to convicted drug dealer as she shares romantic proposal video Police told The Sun: 'We received a report of a non-recent sexual assault on June 14. "Enquiries remain ongoing.' A show spokesman said: 'We're aware a report has been made to police about an alleged sexual assault during the filming of a dinner party. 'Support would be offered to anyone who wished to report a matter.' It comes after Channel 4 rejected calls to remove a contestant in the latest series after domestic abuse claims. It insisted a criminal record check on Alexander Henry 'returned clear'.
