The Chief Secretary emphasised that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is prioritising the growth of Hyderabad, noting that the ongoing development projects in the city were initiated under the Chief Minister's directive.
On Sunday, Ramakrishna inspected various development works undertaken by SRDP and other departments. He examined the construction status of major flyovers, progress on Hyderabad Old City Metro Rail expansion, foot over bridge development, KBR H-City project advancement and sewage treatment plant operations.
The CS was accompanied by MAUD Secretary K Ilambarithi, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan, Metro Railway MD NVS Reddy, Water Works MD Ashok Reddy and others.
Initially, the Chief Secretary conducted an inspection of the foot over bridge (FoB) at GVK Mall in Banjara Hills. Later, he reviewed the Metro Line Alignment for the Old City Corridor at Darushifa. Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy outlined the planned Metro Line projects extending from the Old City Corridor MGBS Bus Station to Chandrayangutta and provided a detailed explanation to the Chief Secretary. He emphasised the need to accelerate the land acquisition process, noting that the community has been cooperative so far.
CS evaluated the conservation, restoration, and repair efforts of the Khurshid Jha Devi Heritage Building in Hussainialam, funded by HMDA.
Ramakrishna reviewed the progress of the Falaknuma RoB project. Ilambarthi and Karnan informed the Chief Secretary that the GHMC-related tasks are nearing completion. They assured that the acquisition of five properties for the service road will be finalised after the railway section is completed, with a target to finish within a month. The Chief Secretary has mandated that this be completed by August. They reiterated their commitment to ensuring the project is executed properly and made available, noting that since work on the railway section has commenced, it is expected to be finished by the end of August.
Subsequently, they inspected the construction works over the Musi River at Moosarambagh, highlighting its advantages to the community. When the Chief Secretary inquired about the land acquisition process, officials informed him that additional assets still need to be secured. Following this, they reviewed the sewage treatment plant projects initiated by the Water Board and directed the relevant officers to expedite their completion.
The Chief Secretary assured that funding for the Old City Metro is enough and has urged officials to swiftly finalise the asset acquisition for the project. He emphasised the need to accelerate the flyover construction through the GHMC SRDP and other infrastructure initiatives. He plans to monitor the progress of the Moosarambagh Bridge works closely, assuring the public that these projects will be completed without causing any inconvenience. Furthermore, all sewage treatment plants being developed by the Water Board will be made operational.

Dixon Tech Q1 beats estimates; analysts upbeat on mobile gains, JV strategy
Brokerages on Dixon Technologies: Dixon Technologies delivered a strong June quarter (Q1FY26) performance, with brokerages highlighting robust outperformance across key metrics, driven primarily by the mobile and EMS segments. The company reported a 95 per cent Y-o-Y growth in revenue and a doubling of net profit, beating most street estimates. While Ebitda margins were slightly down, analysts see strategic levers in place to support medium-term expansion. Domestic brokerage Nuvama Institutional Equities noted that Dixon Technologies once again posted a strong quarter, with revenue, Ebitda, and PAT growth of 95 per cent, 95 per cent, and 68 per cent, respectively, each surpassing their estimates. The strong show was led by a 125 per cent Y-o-Y jump in the mobile segment's revenue and 131 per cent Ebitda growth. The brokerage highlighted that Dixon Technologies retained its mobile volume guidance (42-43 million and 65-67 million units including the Vivo JV) and elaborated on component-related JVs. These include tie-ups for camera modules, enclosures, and precision components aimed at participation in the ECMS scheme. Track Stock Market LIVE Updates While Nuvama acknowledged concerns about potential margin pressure in H1FY27 following the expiry of the PLI scheme in March 2026, it underscored management's confidence in achieving a 130-150 basis points (bps) margin expansion over the medium-term. It maintained a 'Hold' rating with a June 2026 target price of ₹16,100, citing fair valuation. Motilal Oswal also highlighted the strong beat across revenue, Ebitda, and PAT, with the mobile segment again being the standout performer. The integration of Ismartu, improved exports, and higher client volumes drove robust growth. The brokerage stressed upon Dixon Technologies's two-pronged strategy, including strengthening client relationships through JVs and enhancing backward integration via component partnerships. Motilal pointed to the company's strategic alliances – including a display facility with HKC, camera modules with Qtech, and precision components with Chongqing Yuhai – as key steps toward improving Dixon Technologies' margin profile and boosting customer stickiness. Additionally, the JV with Longcheer and Vivo is expected to provide incremental volume growth. Factoring in the strong outlook, Motilal Oswal raised its FY27 estimates by 10 per cent and maintained a 'Buy' rating with a revised target price of ₹22,100 (₹20,500 earlier) based on DCF valuation. Emkay Global echoed a similarly positive tone, noting that Dixon Technologies' revenue growth beat consensus estimates, led by strong performance in the mobile and EMS segments. The brokerage reaffirmed its confidence in Dixon's mobile volume guidance for FY26 and FY27 and highlighted the management's reiteration of 120-150bps margin expansion in the mobile vertical, despite PLI-related headwinds. Emkay sees the company benefiting from scale, strong client relationships, and backward integration. The management's commentary on diversifying into PCBA for industrial and automotive applications was also seen as a positive trigger for Dixon Technologies' next phase of growth. While Emkay slightly cut its DCF-based target price to ₹19,000 (to reflect minority interest from new and upcoming JVs), it maintained a 'Buy' rating, citing sustained competitive advantages and margin expansion drivers. That said, while the impending expiry of mobile PLI benefits poses a risk to margins, brokerages remain optimistic about Dixon Technologies' growth trajectory. Strategic JVs, robust mobile volumes, and a clear focus on backward integration are seen as key enablers of long-term value creation.

Columbia Punishes 80 Students Over Anti-Israel Protests
Columbia University said Tuesday it has issued various punishments, including expulsions and degree revocations, against various students involved in anti-Israel protests on campus. The sanctions, which a student group said targeted nearly 80 people, come as the New York institution negotiates with President Donald Trump's administration to restore $400 million in cut federal funding. Trump has applied intense pressure on the prestigious university and others, accusing them of failing to address alleged anti-Semitism amid nationwide protests last year against Israel's war in Gaza. Columbia, which was the epicenter of the campus protests, has agreed to implement a series of policy reforms in an attempt to regain the federal funding, sparking anger from many students. Fellow Ivy League institution Harvard has also been targeted with billions in funding cuts, but is fighting the pressure campaign in court. The latest sanctions by Columbia stem from a library sit-in this past May, as well as an encampment set up during alumni weekend in spring 2024, the university said in a statement. The library protest disrupted hundreds of students during an exam study period, it said, with punishments including "probation, suspensions (ranging from one year to three years), degree revocations, and expulsions." "The University does not release individual disciplinary results of any student," the statement said. It did not specify which punishments had been issued for the spring 2024 encampment, which occurred after larger protests -- including the occupation of an academic building -- but Columbia said it was "the final set of findings from that period." The student group Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), which calls for the school to cut all financial ties with Israel, said the library-related sanctions "hugely exceed precedent for teach-ins or non-Palestine-related building occupations." "We will not be deterred. We are committed to the struggle for Palestinian liberation," the group said.

Residents in several areas root for fixation of inundation woes
Hyderabad: Each monsoon season brings immense hardship to Hyderabad residents, particularly those in low-lying areas, as heavy downpours consistently lead to widespread inundation. Following recent flood-like situations, exasperated locals are once again demanding a permanent solution to the perennial flooding issue. During the latest heavy rains, numerous localities experienced flooded roads and stranded vehicles. Affected areas included Tolichowki, Shaikpet, Yousufguda, colonies in Nagole, Uppal, Begumpet, and even affluent areas like Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills. Parts of the Old City, such as Bahadurpura, Chandrayangutta, Malakpet, Nawab Sahab Kunta, Talabkatta, and Yakutpura, were also severely hit. Residents expressed profound disappointment, noting that their areas were still inundated despite crores of Rs having been spent on various civic projects. 'Though the GHMC took various civic works by spending crores of rupees, the rain has flooded the various colonies in Tolichowki. The GHMC is facing criticism for their failure,' stated Asif Hussain Sohail, a resident of Surya Nagar Colony in Tolichowki. Residents and activists allege that monsoon preparedness works are still ongoing, even after the arrival of the monsoon season. They claim this year's disruptions are a direct consequence of these pending projects. Following the recent rains, videos circulated widely on social media platforms, showing high-speed water flows and even bikes being washed away in several Old City and other areas. Mohammed Ahmed, vice-president of the TDP Minority Cell, highlighted, 'Over 70 per cent of the monsoon works are incomplete and are still going on in ongoing incessant rains in various areas in the southern part of the city.' The heavy rains have caused significant personal loss for some. Talha Bin Amoodi, a physically challenged resident of Jahanuma, lost household items due to water inundation. 'When I approached the area representative regarding the water inundation, he asked me to vacate the house, as this decades-old issue will not be solved,' Amoodi recounted. Similarly, S Ganesh, a resident of Moosarambagh, observed, 'Though the works in various colonies were completed, still the residents are witnessing water inundation. In half an hour of rain, the colony was inundated, and we residents are in fear of rains and inundation during the monsoon season.' Activists further allege that civic authorities are failing to act despite multiple complaints, attributing the problem to faulty engineering works undertaken by the civic department. 'The engineering wing of GHMC has failed to rectify the problem even after several crores of works were done to prevent flooding. The government must take serious action against the officials and hold an enquiry by the vigilance department,' Ahmed urged.
