Dave Allen gets Johnny Fisher revenge with round five KO win over rival
Dave Allen has avenged his defeat by rival Johnny Fisher with an emphatic knockout victory in their rematch. The Doncaster De La Hoya stopped his opponent in round five at the Copper Box.
Allen landed an overhand right that put Fisher in trouble, and as he attempted to cover up, he eventually hit the canvas. Fisher barely beat the count, and Allen landed a vicious hook on the bell to leave Fisher prone in the middle of the ring.
The referee waved the bout off as the towel came flying in from Fisher's corner. Paramedics attended to Fisher in the ring and gave him oxygen as Allen held off from celebrating, but he did regain his feet and congratulate his opponent.
After having his hand raised in victory and being awarded the WBA Intercontinental heavyweight belt, Allen couldn't hide his delight. 'I knew the first fight did me a world of good," he said.
'I put a bit of weight on, I knew it would pay dividends, took the risk. I'm the fattest, hardest man you'll ever see.
'You know what it means? The belt, everything. I'm gonna have an en suite, that's the dream. My kids will have their own bathroom between them.
'At this level, I'm a handful. He over exaggerated the movement, which worked against him. I've got experience, I know the game inside out. I'm him, but with 30 more fights basically."
When asked about the potential of a trilogy, Allen expressed his belief that it wouldn't be good for Fisher. 'He's my friend," he added. "He's a very good friend of mine. I wouldn't allow it [a trilogy fight] to happen, because it's not in his best interests.'

Josh Allen on Bills' Hard Knocks 2025 show: 'Quite a surprise'
"It was quite a surprise," Allen told USA TODAY Sports on July 14. "Typically, teams that make the playoffs were never a part of that conversation." Allen spoke to USA TODAY through his partnership with sleep-aid brand Natrol. Rules previously to prevent teams that either made the playoffs in the past two seasons, been on the program in the past 10 years, or had a first-year head coach from being on the all-access program. But the NFL has amended some of the requirements, with other iterations of the show ("Hard Knocks: Offseason" and an in-season version of the show) debuting in recent years. Owners voted in 2024 to eliminate the playoff stipulation and decreased the potential gap from 10 years to eight. "I probably, initially, didn't react too great to it," Allen said upon receiving the news. "But I do think it's a cool opportunity for people to see some of the great men we have on our team and some of the great women we have in our staff as a whole. Last offseason, the New York Giants' time on "Hard Knocks: Offseason" became a flashpoint and yearlong punchline as Saquon Barkley signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as owner John Mara told general manager Joe Schoen he'd be "sick" if Barkley signed with the rival. Schoen and Giants head coach Brian Daboll were part of the Bills staff that drafted Allen seventh overall from Wyoming in 2017. "So I think it's a thing we can't let distract us," Allen said. Allen replaced in Shanghai Masters draw after withdrawal for personal reasons
Mark Allen has withdrawn from the upcoming Shanghai Masters due to personal reasons, with Ali Carter taking his place in the draw. The world number 10 confirmed that 'family reasons' were behind his decision not to play in the invitational event, which starts later this month. The 39-year-old said in a statement: 'I would have loved to play in Shanghai but I'm not able to make it this year for family reasons. 'I'd like to apologise to the fans, our partners in Shanghai and my sponsors Liberwin and Omin as I have always enjoyed playing in this fantastic event. I'll be working hard to make sure I'm in it next season.' The Pistol was scheduled to face a wildcard player, who is yet to be confirmed, but world number 17 Carter will now take Allen's place in the draw and play in the opening round on July 29. While clearly Allen is dealing with more important matters, it is a blow to miss out on the prestigious event early in the season. Even defeat in the opening round sees players pocket £10,000, while the champions walks away with £210,000. Allen is yet to play this season, with his next match scheduled to be in the opening round of the Wuhan Open in August. The Shanghai Masters sees the world's top 16 qualify, joined by the next four highest ranked Chinese players and four amateur wildcards. The 24-player draw means the top eight in the world go straight into the last 16, while players ranked 9-16 have to face the Chinese qualifiers.
