Samajwadi Party
leader
Azam Khan
's family has expressed concern over his deteriorating health and demanded better medical care.
Khan is currently lodged in Sitapur district jail and was visited by his wife Tanzeen Fatima, son Adeeb Azam, and SP leader Shavez Khan on Thursday.
The meeting, held after prior online registration, lasted for about 1 hour and 42 minutes.
After stepping out of the jail, former MP Tanzeen Fatima appeared visibly emotional.
When asked if the SP was supporting Khan, she said: "I no longer have faith in anyone. Only Allah can help now. His health is deteriorating; he has become very weak." During the visit, Tanzeen brought along 10 kg of Azam's favourite Dussehri mangoes and essential medicines.
She also inquired about her husband's medical condition with jail authorities. Azam's elder son, Abdullah Azam, visited him earlier on Saturday, bringing 5 kg of Dussehri mangoes, medicines and food items.
He expressed concern over his father's worsening health and said he needs better medical care.
"He is not well. He's aging and suffering from multiple ailments. Jail is no place for healing," he told the media.

However, on questions about Azam's bail prospects, Abdullah remained silent, simply saying, "What good can come from inside the jail?" Azam Khan, now around 76, has been in Sitapur jail since Oct 2023, after being convicted in a fake birth certificate case along with his wife and son Abdullah. The MP-MLA court in Rampur sentenced all three to 7 years in jail on Oct 18, 2023. Due to security concerns, Azam was transferred to Sitapur Jail on Oct 26, 2023.
While the High Court later stayed Azam's sentence, his wife and son did not receive similar relief. Tanzeen Fatima and Abdullah, however, are currently out on bail.
However, Azam could not come out of jail as he is facing over 89 criminal cases, most of which were filed between 2017 and 2019.

India's oldest water tribunal gets yet another extension after 39 years of unresolved dispute
Nearly four decades after it was constituted, the Ravi and Beas Waters Tribunal — India's oldest active inter-state water dispute tribunal — has been granted yet another one-year extension, effective from August 5. The extension was notified by the Union government and made public on Friday. Formed in April 1986 under the Inter-State River Water Disputes (ISRWD) Act, 1956, the tribunal was tasked with adjudicating water-sharing disputes over the Ravi and Beas rivers among Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Despite forwarding a report in 1987, the tribunal has yet to deliver a final resolution, as the concerned states sought clarifications on several issues, keeping the matter pending for over 39 years. 'The central government, after considering the exigencies of the work involved as pointed out by the tribunal, is of the opinion that it is necessary to extend the period for submission of the further report of the Ravi and Beas Waters Tribunal by one year,' read the official notification. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Sharp Design, Smoother Drives. Toyota Glanza Learn More Undo The prolonged delay holds significance not only because of the sheer passage of time but also due to the pending Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal dispute between Punjab and Haryana. The outcome of the tribunal's final report is expected to play a crucial role in resolving the decades-long SYL impasse, as the canal pertains directly to the sharing of Ravi-Beas waters. The Ravi and Beas tribunal is one of five such tribunals in India that continue to function far beyond their initial mandates. Others include: Live Events Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal (constituted in November 2010) for disputes among Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka; Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal (constituted in April 2004), the second-oldest, involving Maharashtra, Karnataka and erstwhile Andhra Pradesh; Vansadhara Water Disputes Tribunal (February 2010) between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh; and Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal (March 2018) between Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

HIT 3 script entirely original, accusations are false, says Nani
The actor files counter affidavit denying plagiarism allegations made by a Tamil writer. Actor Nani has filed a counter affidavit in response to a recent petition by Tamil scriptwriter and author Vimalavelan, who alleged that the actor's recent Telugu film HIT: The Third Case was plagiarised from his script (Agent 11) and novel (Agent V). Nani claimed that the accusations are 'false, misleading and unfounded'. Since Vimalavelan's script is written in Tamil, Nani and the other respondents stated that they are not familiar with the language and have requested for its official English translation so that they can give an effective and informed response on the alleged similarities between both scripts. They also claimed that the similarities pointed out by Vimalavelan are standard tropes and recurring motifs in the thriller, crime, and investigative genres. 'These elements are not unique, distinctive, or original to the plaintiff's work, nor are they protectable under copyright law,' stated the affidavit while opposing the writer's request for an interim injunction. Vimalavelan had claimed that he sent the synopsis of his script to Nani's mail ID that was mentioned on his Facebook page in 2022, and that's how the actor accessed his script. Responding to the same, the affidavit countered the claim and stated that the email address is 'not actively monitored for unsolicited creative submissions, nor is it used as an official channel for receiving or reviewing story/scripts'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Siemens Energy lidera com inovação Siemens Energy Saiba Mais Undo They also denied having reviewed or relied upon any email or material purportedly sent by the plaintiff.
