South Park Tackling Diddy Scandal, Wildfires, Ketamine and More in Season 27 — Watch Trailer

Yahoo02-04-2025
After more than two years, South Park is finally returning to Comedy Central for a proper season. The network has even blessed us with a first look at the madness to come, set to a chilling cover of the iconic anthem 'Blame Canada.'
South Park will officially return for Season 27 on Wednesday, July 9 for another string of ripped-from-the-headlines episodes. First up: ketamine!

'Shelly, have you been taking ketamine?' Randy asks his daughter at the top of the trailer. 'Because I think it could really help you.' And when Sharon asks Randy where he's going at the end, he replies, 'It's OK, I'm just going to do some ketamine and f–k around with the government a little. See ya!'
What else is on tap for Season 27, you ask? We see the town of South Park ablaze, a nod to the recent wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles; we see a group of beret-wearing Frenchmen stealing back the Statue of Liberty, following an actual French politician's request for the U.S. to return it; and we see Butters working as a harrowed air traffic controller, failing to keep planes from colliding.
Cartman being in a hospital room with a woman in labor has us thinking that South Park has another abortion story up its sleeve, and the sight of Kyle apparently turning into a turkey can only mean that we're getting a bird flu episode.
Oh, and did you think this show was going to leave Diddy alone? Not even close. The embattled music mogul is briefly seen flying through space with the boys — joined by none other than Starvin' Marvin!

'Change agent': Charlamagne tha God floats Jon Stewart as possible 2028 candidate

WASHINGTON - Radio show host Charlamagne tha God suggested that comedian Jon Stewart should run for president in 2028, after questioning a possible run for president again by former Vice President Kamala Harris. His comments come after Harris said she won't run for California governor, leaving the door open for a potential 2028 run. In an interview set to publish Aug. 2, Charlamagne told Fox News' Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump, that Stewart would be a 'change agent coming from the outside' that would 'shake things up.' Stewart has been critical of Donald Trump's policies and holds progressive viewpoints. He's been a vocal advocate of improving healthcare access for veterans and first responders. He anchored Comedy Central's The Daily Show from 1999 to 2015, and later returned as a part-time host in 2024. 'We've seen him get legislation and stuff, you know, passed before, like we know where his heart is. He'd be somebody I'd like to see really get in the race and disrupt things in 2028,' Charlamagne told Lara Trump. Charlamagne, co-host of The Breakfast Club, said in an episode of his show on July 31 that he doesn't know if Harris should run again in 2028. 'I definitely would like to see her write a book. I definitely would like to see her start a podcast and just build a real connection with people,' he said. Harris said on July 30 that her leadership and public service "will not be in elected office" for now. Harris is currently writing a book, two people with knowledge of her plans said, and is expected to go on tour. The Golden Bachelor's Mel Owens Offers Mea Culpa for ‘Insensitive' Comments About Older Women: ‘I've Learned a Lot'

The new star of The Golden Bachelor was a little tarnished by recent comments he made about dating older women, but he's trying to make amends. In a new interview with Glamour, Mel Owens — who is set to star in the second season of ABC's senior dating competition — confronts the backlash he received when he said in a podcast interview in June that he'd eliminate any contestants age 60 or older. (Owens is 66, for the record.) More from TVLine Matt Damon and Ken Jennings Risk It All on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire - But Did They Win Big? ABC Moves Up Premiere Date for 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville and Grey's Anatomy Joshua Jackson Admits He's 'Bummed Out' by Doctor Odyssey Cancellation: 'It Was a Really Fun Show' Owens is now backtracking on those comments, saying they 'were a mistake by me. It's unfair. It's insensitive… and I want to earn it back.' Owens is currently two weeks into shooting his season of The Golden Bachelor, and he reveals he apologized to the women as well: 'When I first walked in, I addressed it. I apologized to them. I said, 'It was unfair, insensitive. I want to earn it back. Just give me the chance.'' The women on Owens' season are in their 60s, he says, and he was 'absolutely shocked' at how 'active' and 'brilliant' they are. (ABC has not yet revealed the women competing in Mel's season.) They also got a little revenge on him, he hints: 'One of the dates was a roast. It was brutal. They were killing me… It was good because I earned that, and I took it and I deserved it, and it landed squarely on me.' Owens blames his controversial comments on his lack of familiarity with the show: 'I didn't know the age range because I wasn't watching it. I'm thinking, to me, the age range was 45 to 60. That's my age range. I'm thinking that's the gold years for me.' He also says he preferred younger women because 'my reference… was when I was dating at 39, 40. I hadn't dated in 26 years, so I had no clue.' He hopes fans who wrote off the show after his comments will give it another chance: 'Hopefully the show will show that the women that are in their golden years, that are doing these amazing things. It's inspirational.' The experience so far has been 'life-altering' for him, he adds: 'I've learned a lot.' Owens' season of The Golden Bachelor premieres Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on ABC.
