Germany remains Malaysia's leading EU trading partner and a key investor in manufacturing, services, and high-tech industries.
The Prime Minister expressed optimism that ongoing cooperation would further solidify people-to-people connections.

Dr Zaliha urges federal agencies to halt improper project extensions
LABUAN: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa has urged all implementing agencies in the federal territories to halt the improper practice of granting unjustified extensions of time for development projects. Chairing the Federal Territories Development Action Council meeting in Putrajaya today, Dr Zaliha stressed that projects such as schools, hospitals, military housing, and other critical infrastructure related to national security must be expedited without compromise, as they involve the rights of the people. 'Contractors must be held accountable to the agreed timelines. There should be no room for excuses,' she said in a Facebook post today. Dr Zaliha also revealed that under the 12th Malaysia Plan's Fifth Rolling Plan, a total of 648 physical and 320 non-physical projects have been recorded. Of these, 402 are in the pre-implementation stage, 461 are in progress, 104 have been completed and one has been cancelled. She urged all relevant agencies to closely monitor the progress of projects under their jurisdiction and to refrain from approving any time extensions unless backed by clear, legitimate and well-documented justifications.

Home Ministry to table Peaceful Assembly Act amendments this month, says Saifuddin Nasution
KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry will table amendments to Section 11 of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 (Act 736) in the upcoming parliamentary sitting this month, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. In a statement, the Home Minister said the Madani government remained committed to upholding democratic principles and the supremacy of the Constitution by protecting the people's right to peaceful assembly. He said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as the key driver of the Madani government's reform agenda, took the issue of freedom of assembly seriously, announcing the Cabinet decision to impose a moratorium on prosecutions under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 as an initial step towards comprehensive reform of laws related to the right to assemble. On the Federal Court's ruling that a provision under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 is unconstitutional, Saifuddin Nasution said the ministry acknowledged the decision and would scrutinise it for appropriate action. He said this includes considering proposed amendments to the affected legal provisions to ensure they are in line with the Federal Constitution and consistent with the country's highest court's decisions. "The Madani government will continue to ensure a balance between individual freedom and the need to maintain public order and security. It is a priority of the Madani government to ensure that every right guaranteed by the Constitution is exercised in a peaceful, orderly and responsible manner,' he added. Earlier, the Federal Court's five-member bench ruled that a provision under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, which penalised an organiser who failed to provide the police with a five-day prior notice before holding an assembly, is unconstitutional. Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, who chaired the panel, stated that it is inconsistent with Article 10(2)(b) read in conjunction with Article 8(1) of the Federal Constitution (equality before the law).- Bernama

Govt will issue moratorium against criminalising failure to give notice for assemblies
KUALA LUMPUR: Putrajaya has agreed to issue a moratorium against any prosecution under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assemblies Act 2012. This comes after the Federal Court declared it unconstitutional to criminalise the failure to notify the police five days in advance before holding a peaceful assembly. In a statement, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced the cabinet's approval on the matter as a stepping stone towards wholly reforming laws on the right to assembly. "The Home Ministry will also table the amendment to Section 11 of the Peaceful Assemblies Act in the next parliamentary sitting," he said. He added that the ministry takes note of the federal court's judgment and will assess the decision for appropriate action. "This includes considering the suggestion to amend the affected laws to be consistent with the Federal Constitution and in line with the judgment of the highest court in the nation," he said. Earlier today, the Federal Court declared Section 9(5) of the act which criminalises the failure to notify the police five days in advance before holding a peaceful assembly as unconstitutional. Delivering the unanimous decision by a five-member bench, Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat said Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 imposes a penalty that goes beyond what is allowed under Article 10(1)(b) of the Federal Constitution, which guarantees the freedom of speech, assembly and association.
