Stephen A. Smith Returns to SiriusXM With 2 New Shows
Smith shared the new deal during an appearance on Howard Stern's radio show.
One of his new shows will be focused on the topic he's most known for, sports, and will air weekdays on the Mad Dog Sports Radio channel, which is channel 82 on SiriusXM. Smith is also getting a weekly show focused on pop culture and social commentary as part of the deal; both shows will debut in September.
The ESPN star's new deal marks his return to SiriusXM, where he hosted a two-hour daily show from 2014 to 2020. That show was on Mad Dog's channel from 2014 to early 2017, when it moved to ESPN's channel.
Smith, in a statement, said he is 'loving the fact' that he gets to reunite with his 'guy' Mad Dog Chris Russo, which he calls a 'beautiful thing.' Russo, a radio legend from New York City, is a contributor to ESPN's 'First Take,' where he routinely trades sports takes with Smith.
'But to then add a weekly show where I have a potent platform to discuss riveting subjects in the world of pop culture, politics and social commentary … Let's just say, it doesn't get any better than that,' Smith continued. 'September can't come soon enough. It's been a long time since I've been in radio … Especially going back and forth with the callers. Can't wait to get restarted. Buckle up! I'm coming!'
Smith's move back to SiriusXM comes as he has been appearing on more shows, like Megyn Kelly's on SiriusXM and YouTube, sharing his thoughts on politics. And in April, while Smith was co-hosting a town hall with President Trump on News Nation, the president gave his vote of approval on Smith potentially running for the White House in 2028.The post Stephen A. Moments after Raiders safety Lonnie Johnson Jr laid on the field Saturday afternoon during the team's mock game, it was clear his injury was serious. After the game, head coach Pete Carroll said the injury was "significant", The question was simply what kind of significant injury was it and what it would mean for his 2025 season and beyond. The MRI results are in and it's a broken fibula for Johnson, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. This is not great news, but it could have been a lot worse. There were undoubtedly plenty of fears of an injury that was season-ending. Typically the recovery time for a broken fibula is about two months. And we are still over a month from the start of the season, which means there's a possibility Johnson could only miss 4-5 games. Still, Johnson had just spoken to the media the day before the game and was very excited about the opportunity he had in Las Vegas to get his career back on track. He was slated to be a starter and rotational safety along with Isaiah Pola-Mao and Jeremy Chinn. "With me playing my role on different teams and starting, and then having to go to straight special teams for three years straight, and now I've got an opportunity to go earn a better contract for myself this year," Johnson said of his career struggle. "I think Pete [Carroll] has been trying to chase me for so long, and he finally got an opportunity to, like, put his hands on my game. So, everything is just complementing, and like I said, I get a chance to just earn it and prove that I'm their guy. I never really had the opportunity to show a team. I've always been, 'Hey, he's a role player.' I've got an opportunity to show like I'm Pete's guy, I'm M-Rob's guy, I'm Spytek's guy, so that's what I'm here to do." This will be one more hurdle the seven-year vet will have to clear in his efforts to find a long term NFL home.
