Everyone has decided to bring new system in Bihar for education and employment: Prashant Kishor
Bhojpur (Bihar) [India], June 27 (ANI): Ahead of Bihar assembly polls, Jan Suraaj Founder Prashant Kishor took a swipe at former Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav, current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that people in the state had decided to bring the new system in Bihar for education and employment.
Prashant Kishor said, 'We have only one goal that the people of Bihar will remain number one this time, Lalu Yadav, Nitish Kumar and PM Modi will all go down. This will not be the victory of Prashant Kishor or Jan Suraaj; it will be the victory of the people. People who have been in poverty for 30-35 years due to corruption, loot done by the politicians, whose children remained illiterate, whose children became labourers, now everyone is awake. Everyone has decided to bring the new system in Bihar for education and employment.'
Earlier Prashant Kishor said that Bihar became a state of labourers under the governance of previous CM Lalu Prasad Yadav and present CM Nitish Kumar.
'The only way to end poverty, illiteracy and unemployment in Bihar is education. The last 30-35 years of Lalu-Nitish rule have turned the entire Bihar into a labourers' state. The children here were forced to carry sacks on their backs. Jan Suraaj's ideology is that the children of Bihar will not carry sacks on their backs, but will carry school bags, study, get jobs, and live a good life,' Kishor said.
The Election Commission of India has allotted the 'school bag' as the common election symbol to Jan Suraaj for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
Welcoming the decision, Jan Suraaj Party party founder Prashant Kishor emphasised that education is the key to eradicating poverty, illiteracy, and unemployment in the state.
Earlier, in an interview with ANI, he said that despite PM Modi being in power at the Centre for 11 years, Bihar continues to suffer from poverty, hunger, and helplessness. He pointed out that major industries have been established in the state, forcing young people to migrate in search of work.
'We still face hunger, poverty, and helplessness. We ask this government--being in power for twenty years in the state and eleven years at the Centre, you name even one domain where Bihar ranks number one nationally?' he questioned.
He also alleged that the government's claims are based on manipulated particularly in areas such as toilet construction and educational reforms.
In the current 243-member Bihar Assembly, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) holds 131 seats: the BJP (80), JD(U) (45), HAM(S) (4), and support from 2 independents. The Opposition India Bloc holds 111 seats, comprising RJD (77), Congress (19), CPI(ML) (11), CPI(M) (2), and CPI (2).
Jan Suraaj Party is set to contest in the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections, which are expected later this year. (ANI)

‘Secular' and ‘socialist' not core to Indian culture: Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday claimed that the words 'secular' and 'socialist' are not core to Indian culture and called for a discussion on their removal from the Constitution. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader's comments come a day after the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh called for a review of the inclusion of these two terms in the Preamble. The RSS is the parent organisation of the ruling BJP. The words 'socialist' and 'secular' were not part of the Constitution adopted in 1950 and were added in 1976 through the 42nd constitutional amendment. Chouhan made the statement while addressing an event in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, marking 50 years since the Emergency was declared by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's government in 1975. In a video shared on social media, he said: 'The core of Indian culture is equal respect for all religions and not secular.' Talking about socialism, the former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh added that believing everyone to be like oneself is a core Indian thought. 'There is no need for socialism here,' he said. 'We have all said for long that all should be treated alike. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) also said on Friday that the Hindutva organisation's 'proposal' ' exposes the RSS' long-standing objective of subverting the Constitution and its intent to transform India into a Hindu Rashtra, in pursuit of its Hindutva project.' In 2015, a controversy erupted after the BJP-led Union government's newspaper advertisements on Republic Day featured a Preamble with the two words omitted. In September 2023, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury claimed that the two words were missing from the Preamble in the copies of the Constitution distributed to the MPs in the new Parliament building. In November, the Supreme Court rejected a batch of petitions seeking the deletion of the two terms from the Preamble to the Constitution. The court said there was no legitimate justification for challenging the constitutional amendment several decades later.

Former Andhra Chief Minister Reddy remembered Bharat Ratna PV Narasimha Rao as a visionary leader who revolutionised India's economic landscape through his reforms. In an X post, the Reddy wrote, 'The visionary who transformed the country's economic condition with reforms, Bharat Ratna PV Narasimha Rao. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of PV, who provided numerous remarkable services to the nation as India's first Telugu Prime Minister, we pay our tributes.' Former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao was posthumously conferred with the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, by President Droupadi Murmu on March 30, 2024. Born on June 28, 1921, in Karimnagar, Telangana, as an agriculturist and an advocate, Narasimha Rao entered politics and held several important portfolios. He served as the Minister of Law and Information, 1962-64; Law and Endowments, 1964-67; Health and Medicine, 1967; and Education, 1968-71, Government of Andhra Pradesh. Rao, the ninth Prime Minister of India, assumed office in June 1991 and stayed in power till May 1996. He is credited with bringing many economic reforms to the country, particularly for dismantling the License Raj. Rao took over the post of Home Minister on July 19, 1984, and was re-appointed to this post, with the additional charge of the Ministry of Planning, on November 5, 1984. He was appointed as the Minister of Defence from December 31, 1984, to September 25, 1985. On September 25, 1985, he took over as the Minister of Human Resource Development. "Imposed by Central government," says Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on three-language formula
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 28 (ANI): Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) faction leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday stated that the decision to introduce Hindi as a third language in Maharashtra schools was not made by the state government, but was 'imposed' by the central government. Raut further stated that the new education policy, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, has encountered opposition from all states. Addressing a press conference, Raut said, 'This decision was imposed by the central government, not made by the state government. The new education policy is something Modi and Shah have given to the whole country, and all of our states stand against them.' Opposition parties continue to voice their objections against the Maharashtra government's plan to introduce Hindi as a third language in schools. The Maharashtra government has been criticised twice regarding its language policy. Initially, a government resolution issued on April 16 mandated Hindi as the compulsory third language in Marathi and English-medium schools. However, n response to the backlash, the government revised the policy through an amended resolution, stating, 'Hindi will be the third language. For those who want to learn another language, at least 20 willing students are required.' On June 24, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the final decision regarding the three-language formula will be taken only after discussions with litterateurs, language experts, political leaders, and all other concerned parties. A meeting on the issue of the three-language formula was held at the Chief Minister's official residence, Varsha, on Sunday night (June 22). Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, School Education Minister Dada Bhuse, Minister of State Dr Pankaj Bhoyar, and officials from the education department were present. Raut further accused the Centre of misusing law and order over the past decade and stated that the judiciary and the Election Commission have treated the Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP-SCP unfairly. 'The law and order have been misused for the last 10 years. The judiciary, including the Supreme Court as well as the Election Commission, has done injustice to Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP-SCP... Who is giving the verdicts under pressure... We need an unbiased investigation to get justice,' Raut said. (ANI)
