This Is What AR Rahman Craves At Midnight, Maestro's Choice Triggers Health Debate

Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman admitted to late-night burger cravings despite his disciplined lifestyle. Experts advise healthier alternatives to avoid health risks
Oscar-winning composer and global icon AR Rahman, known as much for his soulful music as for his serene and spiritual lifestyle, recently revealed an unexpectedly relatable habit – late-night burger cravings. In a candid interview with Curly Tales, Rahman spoke about his disciplined daily routine, which begins with prayer and follows a restrained diet. Yet, once in a while, temptation knocks.
'Sometimes I feel like eating at night," he admitted with a smile, 'and my son orders a burger for me." The revelation left fans both surprised and amused, as the otherwise health-conscious maestro opened up about his rare indulgences.
Rahman's confession has reignited public discussions around late-night snacking; particularly the health risks that accompany it. Nutritionists caution that eating heavy meals close to bedtime can disrupt the body's circadian rhythm. When the stomach is burdened during resting hours, digestion slows down, potentially leading to weight gain, disturbed sleep, and even metabolic issues like diabetes.
According to experts, our bodies are wired to wind down at night, not process rich, calorie-laden food. 'Late-night eating, especially of fast food, can interfere with both digestion and quality of sleep," said a Mumbai-based dietician. It's not about one burger, but about patterns. If this becomes a habit, it may cause long-term health consequences, she added.
That said, occasional cravings are natural, and manageable. Instead of reaching for a burger or fries, health experts suggest lighter, nutritious alternatives. Greek yogurt topped with fruit, nut butter on whole-grain crackers, or air-popped popcorn can satisfy hunger without overloading the digestive system.
For those with a sweet tooth, bananas with almond butter or a handful of pistachios can do the trick. And if spicy or tangy is what you're after, fermented foods like kefir, kombucha, or a spoonful of lemon-amla chutney offer both taste and health benefits.
Rahman's anecdote may seem light-hearted, but it reflects a larger truth: health is about balance, not perfection. A lifestyle that includes structure, spiritual grounding, and the occasional indulgence can be far more sustainable than rigid extremes. In the end, life is about moderation, Rahman said with a calm smile.

‘Project Hail Mary' trailer: Ryan Gosling is humanity's last hope in Lord & Miller's sci-fi comedy

Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for Project Hail Mary, a sci-fi comedy starring Ryan Gosling as an ordinary science teacher turned unlikely astronaut tasked with saving Earth from cosmic disaster. The film is directed by Oscar-winning duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and adapted from Andy Weir's bestselling novel by screenwriter Drew Goddard (The Martian). Gosling plays Ryland Grace, a middle-school teacher who wakes up aboard a spaceship, alone and light-years from Earth, with no memory of how he got there. As fragments of his memory return, Grace realises he's humanity's last hope in a mission to investigate a mysterious substance that's threatening the sun's ability to sustain life on Earth. As he pieces together the truth, he also forms an unlikely bond with an alien life form that may be key to his survival. Your first look at Project Hail Mary. Trailer launches Monday. — Amazon MGM Studios (@AmazonMGMStudio) June 27, 2025 Joining Gosling is Sandra Hüller, the Oscar-nominated actor from Anatomy of a Fall, who plays the scientist responsible for convincing Grace to leave Earth behind. Gosling, who also serves as a producer, called the film 'an insanely ambitious story that's massive in scope,' during a CinemaCon appearance earlier this year. The project marks another spacefaring role for the actor, who previously portrayed Neil Armstrong in First Man. Project Hail Mary is slated for theatrical release in 2025.
