Mathura man supplied drones to Naxals to keep eye on security forces: NIA
During interrogation, the man identified as Vishal Singh revealed he had been supplying drones and providing operational training in dense forests for the past seven years, the officials said.
The officials confirmed that Vishal Singh, the key accused in the revival of a CPI (Maoist) Northern Region Bureau (NRB), had delivered drones to leaders of the banned outfit in the Chhakarbanda- Pachrukhiya forest area of Bihar.
Singh had imparted technical training to cadres of CPI (Maoist) and had also attended meetings with its central committee members deep in the forest areas of Bihar in 2019, the officials further said.
NIA officials stated that Vishal Singh acted as a clandestine service provider, largely maintaining a normal life in Delhi. They added that Singh kept abreast of the latest technology while in the national capital and improvised it for the benefit of Naxalite groups operating in dense forest areas.
The NIA is investigating the case and probing the extent of Vishal Singh's involvement with the CPI (Maoist). The agency is also examining the digital evidence seized during search operations to uncover more details about the organisation's activities and plans.
The arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the NIA to dismantle operations of banned terrorist organizations in the country. The NIA had confirmed that the agency seized digital devices, including hard drives, pen drives and mobile phones, as well as other incriminating material, during a search at Singh's West Delhi house.
In August 2024, the NIA had arrested another accused, Ajay Singhal alias Aman, who was in charge of the Haryana and Punjab state organising committee of CPI (Maoist). The case relates to the terrorist organisation's conspiracy to revive its waning influence in the Northern Regional Bureau (NRB) area, officials said.

Based on its recommendations, the government plans to amend the Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Education Act, 2004, and the Uttar Pradesh Non-Governmental Arabic and Persian Madrassa Recognition, Administration and Service Regulations, 2016. The committee is also tasked with suggesting revisions to subjects and curricula for classes 9 to 12 in madrassas. Guwahati, Jul 6 (PTI) Eminent historian, social thinker and political commentator Professor Udayaditya Bharali died here on Sunday after a prolonged illness, his family members said. Born in 1947 in Moran, Bharali began teaching History at the premier Cotton College in Guwahati from 1968 and retired in 2006 as the Principal of the same institute. He also served as the Head of the Department of History at the oldest college of the Northeast. A known follower of Leftist ideologies, he was associated with the CPI(ML) and was a sympathiser of the Naxal movement. He was well-regarded among the opposition parties of Assam. Later on in his life, Bharali became part of a larger citizens' forum and worked to build a common force against the ruling BJP. He has always been a critic of the state government and its policies. The noted academician has penned several important books such as 'The Political History of Assam, Vol-1', published by the Government of Assam as an Associate Editor, and 'Hundred Years' History of Cotton College: 1901-2001′ as a writer. Punjab woman dies by suicide, husband follows suit thinking she eloped
A married couple in Punjab's Patiala district allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents over a misunderstanding, leaving behind three children, police said on Sunday. The 43-year-old man's body was found hanging at his home, police said.(PTI/ Representational) According to police, the husband took the extreme step after suspecting that his wife had eloped with someone. The couple had a quarrel on June 29, following which the woman left home with their three children, aged between 10-20. The woman took the children to a Gurdwara in Fatehgarh Sahib and later sent them to their maternal grandparents' house in Rupnagar district while she went missing. Despite her parents assuring the husband that she did not come to them, he suspected she had eloped, Gurpreet Singh, SHO of Bhadson police station, said. On July 3, the 43-year-old man's body was found hanging at his home. His wife had allegedly ended her life two days earlier, with her body retrieved from the Bhakra canal, but he was unaware of this, Singh said. A case has been registered, and further investigations are underway, Singh added. Discussing suicides can be triggering for some. However, suicides are preventable.
