1500 Male & Female Promising Players participate in Dubai Open Basketball Academies Championship

The 6th edition of Dubai Open Basketball Academies Championship was successfully concluded with remarkable participation of 1500 male & female players from five age categories (U 10 to U 19 years old), represented 87 teams from 22 public & private academies; the most eminent of which are Al-Nasr & Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai.The Championship was organized by Dubai Sports Council (DSC) in collaboration with the UAE Basketball Association, and Sports Mania & Sports 360 X; the two organizational partners of the Championship.The event was held as part of DSC's endeavors to attract, scout & develop sports talents and according to Dubai Government's policy to support talents in various fields.Winners were awarded by Mr. Ahmed Salem Al-Mahri, Director of Sports Talents Dept. in DSC, in the presence of the Lebanese star Fadi Al-Khatib, the Ambassador of sport in Dubai.Participants competed in 422 matches, followed by 42 thousand fans throughout two months.In U 10 mixed category, the Jam Team attained excellence with two successive victories. In the first level, the Jam won Champs counterpart 68 – 42 and then surpassed Patriots Team in the second level with 48 – 23 score.In U 12 category, the Champs Team attained difficult victory over Moen counterpart 81 – 76 in the first level, while NBA beat Champs 70 – 67 in the second level.In U 12 girls category, Jam presented distinctive performance & won NBA 41 – 33.The U 14 category witnessed competitive matches, as the 24 Academy surpassed Falcons 89 – 72 in the first level, while Jam beat Moen 80 – 72 in the second level.In U 14 girls category, Champs gained deserving victory over NBA 69 – 63.In U 16 category, the 24 Academy continued excellence & beat Falcons 64 – 56 in the first level, while Jam gained a deserving victory over NBA 71 – 49 in the second level.In U 16 girls category, NBA overcame Jam 50 – 36.The Championship was concluded with an exciting competitive match in U 19 category, where Wildcats gained a precious victory over Falcon with 87 – 78 score.
The Championship took place at the courts of Al-Nasr Sports Club & Al-Ettihad Private School – Jumeirah, and acquired remarkable support from Anta Sports Equipment Co. / Vid Fit Sports Nutrition / Burjeel Hospital / Al-Ain Water.

Ammon News - Former Italy captain Andrea Pirlo has been appointed manager of Dubai-based United FC, the United Arab Emirates' second-tier club announced on Friday. Local media reported the 46-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the club. Founded in September 2022, United FC are also known as Dubai United. The club earned promotion from the third-tier in the 2022–23 season. "Pirlo brings with him a unique footballing vision and valuable coaching experience from spells at Juventus and Sampdoria," the club said in a statement. "His arrival marks an exciting new chapter for United FC and reflects the club's growing ambition in the UAE football landscape." Pirlo guided Italian Serie B side Sampdoria to a seventh-place finish during the 2023-2024 season. He was sacked in August last year after a poor start to the season. Pirlo retired from playing in 2017 after establishing himself as one of the best midfielders of his generation. He helped Italy win the 2006 World Cup, won the Champions League twice with AC Milan, and lifted four consecutive Serie A titles with Juventus from 2012-2015. Reuters

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Racing Club (DRC) to deepen cooperation in the fields of culture and local identity. Through this partnership, both organisations will develop innovative programming and experiences that highlight Emirati customs, enriching the Dubai World Cup with authentic MoU underscores a shared commitment to championing the values and traditions of the UAE internationally. It also supports Dubai's broader strategy of fostering collaboration among local entities, aligning with the emirate's strategic objectives. The agreement was signed by Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, and Ali Abdulrahman Al Ali, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Dubai Racing Club.
