Al Nahda, Olympic team win openers in 2025 Khareef Tournament
Muscat, JULY 28 The 2025 Khareef Club Tournament, organised by the Oman Football Association, kicked off at the Al Saada Sports Complex Stadium on Sunday, featuring five clubs along with the Oman Olympic team, divided into two groups. Group A includes Dhofar, Al Nahda and Al Shabab, while Group B consists of Al Nasr, Seeb and the Olympic team. The tournament will run until August 3. The opening round witnessed two intense matches. The first brought together Dhofar and Al Nahda in Group A, where Al Nahda secured a 2-1 victory. The match started with high intensity from Al Nahda, who applied constant pressure through the midfield and flanks. In the 13th minute, Mohammed al Ghafri received a precise pass and fired a strong shot past goalkeeper Mazin al Kasbi to give Al Nahda the lead. Just two minutes later, Azzan al Tamtemi appeared to double the score with a powerful strike, but the goal was overturned after the referee reviewed the play on VAR and ruled it offside. Dhofar gradually gained more control of the ball and managed to equalise in the 40th minute when Fahd al Hajri broke through Al Nahda's defence, went on one with goalkeeper Faiz al Rashidi, and slotted the ball into the net, ending the first half 1-1. In the second half, Al Nahda regained momentum with organised possession and bold attacking moves. In the 60th minute, they were awarded a penalty after a strong challenge from a Dhofar defender. The decision was confirmed by VAR, and Ahmed al Kaabi converted from the spot with a well placed shot to the left of Mazin al Kasbi, restoring Al Nahda's lead. In the closing minutes, both coaches made tactical substitutions, with play mostly concentrated in midfield. Dhofar made some late attempts to equalise, but Al Nahda held firm until the final whistle to claim their first win of the tournament with a 2-1 scoreline. In the second match of the Khareef Championship, the Olympic team earned a deserved 2-0 victory over Al Nasr. The match began with pressure from both sides, and Al Nasr nearly opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Awad al Shahri launched a swift counter attack, but goalkeeper Ibrahim al Kindi made an excellent save. In the 24th minute, the Olympic team responded with a well-organised play that ended with Masoud al Bahri firing a powerful shot into the net, putting the Olympic team ahead. Al Nasr pushed for an equaliser, with their best chance coming in the 29th minute when Al Mutasim al Noubi's shot went narrowly wide. Another opportunity came before half-time through Jassim al Noubi, but the Olympic defence intervened at the last moment, ending the first half with the Olympic team leading 1-0. The second half saw both teams maintain the same line-ups and continue exchanging attacks. The Olympic team doubled their lead in the 70th minute through substitute Yasar al Balushi, who unleashed a superb strike into the net. Al Nasr tried to reduce the deficit in the closing stages, but the Olympic defence handled the pressure well, sealing a 2-0 win. The tournament continues on Tuesday with two key matches: Al Shabab versus Dhofar at 5 pm, and Seeb versus Al Nasr at 8:30 pm. Al Shabab, led by national coach Hassan Rustam, will aim to maintain their positive momentum after winning the Super Cup, while Dhofar, under Musbah al Saadi, seeks to recover from their opening loss. The Seeb-Al Nasr clash is expected to be closely fought, with Seeb looking to bounce back from their Super Cup defeat, and Al Nasr hoping to improve after their loss to the Olympic team. The tournament will proceed as scheduled, with the second round on July 29 and the third round on July 31. The competition will conclude on August 3 with the final match between the group leaders to determine the Khareef Club Championship winner.

Al Nasr, Al Wahda post wins in pre-season friendlies
ADNOC Pro League clubs are intensifying their preparations for the 2025–2026 season by engaging in a series of friendly matches as part of their overseas training camps. These matches are aimed at regaining match sharpness and building the necessary technical cohesion before the official kick-off. Among the 14 clubs competing in the upcoming ADNOC Pro League season, three teams have already confirmed their friendly match schedules in preparation for the new campaign, which includes competition for the ADNOC Pro League title, the Emaar Super Cup, and the ADIB Cup. Al Nasr began their pre-season friendlies in Germany, where they defeated SpVgg Landshut 3-2. The goals were scored by Glauber Lima, Manolo Gabbiadini and Salem Al-Somhi. Al Wahda launched their own friendly campaign with a 4-0 victory over German side Gebenbach in the city of Rieden. Goals came from Bernardo Folha, Omar Khribin, Geronimo Rivera, and Abdulla Hamad. Meanwhile, Al Ain are scheduled to start their training camp in Morocco from July 20 to 29, where they will face Moroccan club Union Touarga. Afterward, they will move to Spain for the second phase of preparations. There, Al Ain will play three friendlies against Elche (Spain), Al Ahli (Saudi Arabia), and Granada in the Granada City Trophy, with matches scheduled for Aug.2, 3, and 9. The rest of the ADNOC Pro League clubs are expected to announce their friendly schedules soon, following in the footsteps of Al Nasr, Al Wahda, and Al Ain. It's worth noting that UAE clubs are conducting their pre-season training camps in six European countries, including Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Serbia, Slovenia, and Austria, in addition to Morocco, which is once again a pre-season destination for Al Ain for the second year in a row. Meanwhile, Al Ain kick off their pre-season preparations campaign with a tour starting in Morocco before heading to Spain. According to the club's official account on X, the camp will begin on July 20, with the first stop in Morocco. During their camp in Morocco, Al Ain will play a friendly match against Moroccan side Ittihad Touarga on July 29 at the Mohammed VI Sports Complex. The team will then head to their second training camp in Spain on July 30, where they are scheduled to play three international friendlies. Al Ain's second pre-season match will take place on Aug. 2 against Spanish side Elche. On Aug. 5, they will face Saudi giants Al Ahli in a highly anticipated Arab clash. The tour concludes on Aug. 9 with a match against Granada CF for the Granada City Cup, after which the team will return to the UAE to prepare for the upcoming season. Under Serbian manager Vladimir Ivic, Al Ain aim to a stronger performance this season as they compete for all available titles to make up for last year's shortcomings. 1500 Male & Female Promising Players participate in Dubai Open Basketball Academies Championship
The 6th edition of Dubai Open Basketball Academies Championship was successfully concluded with remarkable participation of 1500 male & female players from five age categories (U 10 to U 19 years old), represented 87 teams from 22 public & private academies; the most eminent of which are Al-Nasr & Shabab Al-Ahli Championship was organized by Dubai Sports Council (DSC) in collaboration with the UAE Basketball Association, and Sports Mania & Sports 360 X; the two organizational partners of the event was held as part of DSC's endeavors to attract, scout & develop sports talents and according to Dubai Government's policy to support talents in various were awarded by Mr. Ahmed Salem Al-Mahri, Director of Sports Talents Dept. in DSC, in the presence of the Lebanese star Fadi Al-Khatib, the Ambassador of sport in competed in 422 matches, followed by 42 thousand fans throughout two U 10 mixed category, the Jam Team attained excellence with two successive victories. In the first level, the Jam won Champs counterpart 68 – 42 and then surpassed Patriots Team in the second level with 48 – 23 U 12 category, the Champs Team attained difficult victory over Moen counterpart 81 – 76 in the first level, while NBA beat Champs 70 – 67 in the second U 12 girls category, Jam presented distinctive performance & won NBA 41 – U 14 category witnessed competitive matches, as the 24 Academy surpassed Falcons 89 – 72 in the first level, while Jam beat Moen 80 – 72 in the second U 14 girls category, Champs gained deserving victory over NBA 69 – U 16 category, the 24 Academy continued excellence & beat Falcons 64 – 56 in the first level, while Jam gained a deserving victory over NBA 71 – 49 in the second U 16 girls category, NBA overcame Jam 50 – Championship was concluded with an exciting competitive match in U 19 category, where Wildcats gained a precious victory over Falcon with 87 – 78 score. Ahli Sidab, Al Amerat continue winning run in OHL
Muscat: Ahli Sidab Club continued their positive run in the Oman Hockey League after securing a 4-2 win over Salalah Club at the Hockey Oman Stadium in Al Amerat on Monday. The game started with excitement right from the opening minutes, as Ahli Sidab capitalised on their first real opportunity to take the lead in the fourth minute through Ammar al Shoaibi, who successfully converted a penalty corner. However, Ahli Sidab's celebration was short-lived as Salalah responded quickly in the same minute with an equaliser by Eisa Adel, who took advantage of a defensive error to level the score. Ahli Sidab regained control and dominated midfield, with Haitham al Wahaibi restoring the lead with a powerful strike in the 16th minute, ending the first quarter with a 2-1 advantage for Ahli Sidab. In the second quarter, Ahli Sidab maintained their dominance and extended their lead with a third goal by Talal Mohammed Salem from another well-executed penalty corner in the 23rd minute. Salalah made some timid attempts to get back into the game, but the quarter ended with Ahli Sidab leading 3-1. The third quarter saw clear dominance from Ahli Sidab, who kept pressing and added a fourth goal in the 32nd minute through Mehna al Hassani, ending the quarter with a 4-1 lead. In the second quarter, Suleiman al Nofali extended the lead with a third goal in the 16th minute. Al Amerat continued their dominance in the third quarter, with Osama Radhan scoring the fourth goal from a penalty corner, and Elyas al Nofali adding the fifth, closing the quarter at 5-0. In the final quarter, Shahdi Salem scored Al Nasr's only goal from a penalty corner in the 56th minute, ending the match with a 5-1 victory for Al Amerat.
