With a budget of ₹30 crore, the building saw 75% of its construction completed. However, the association soon entered a phase of internal elections that slowed progress considerably.

A leadership tussle between Nasser's faction and a rival team led by actor Bhagyaraj caused a complete halt in construction. The project remained stalled for more than three years. Meanwhile, inflation and delay increased the total cost, making it impossible to move forward without additional financial resources.
