Hours after car crash kills four Kanwariyas in Gwalior, MP CM Mohan Yadav announces Rs four lakh ex gratia each
Four men, including the driver and owner of the car have so far been detained by the Gwalior district police and booked for causing death by negligence.
According to a Gwalior district police official, the car bearing the registration number MP09WD0226 was owned by a Gwalior resident, but illegally rented to another man. Five men were boarding the car from Gwalior city to Dabra town of Gwalior district to be part of a party on Wednesday, when the tyre of the speeding car burst, causing the car to become uncontrollable and run over the four Kanwariyas fatally.
Four men hailing from two families identified as Vakil (40) Ramesh (38) Dinesh (21) and Chhotu (18), all residents of a single village, were fatally run over by a speeding car, which lost control following a tyre burst. In addition to the four fatalities, two other Kanwariyas sustained injuries in the incident.
The foursome was part of a 13-strong group of Kanwariyas, who were returning to their village after fetching water in their Kanwar (decorated bamboo pole with two water pots) for Lord Shiva's Jalabhishek.

Three arrested for theft in two separate incidents
KOCHI: Two persons, including a woman, were arrested for stealing household items worth approximately Rs 24,000 from a house at Thrikkakara in the early hours of Sunday. The accused Viji, a native of Anna Nagar, Chennai, and Suresh, a resident of Thovalavattom, Kanyakumari, were nabbed within hours by a special squad with the Ernakulam Town North police. Police said the duo broke into a house located opposite the Neelankattu residence on St Benedict Cross Road around 1am on Sunday and stole multiple items, including a wash basin, pipe fittings, motor fittings, a UPS battery, motor, ladder, kitchen rack, and gas stove. Residents noticed the missing items in the morning and filed a police complaint. In a separate incident, a migrant worker was arrested in connection with the theft of a jeep parked along the roadside near Poonithura, Vyttila. Jyotiraj Mandal, 25, a native of Gajapati, Odisha, was taken into custody by the Maradu police.

'Do whatever you can': Mirzapur police officer refuses to pay for glasses, threatens shopkeeper; watch video

The video, recorded on July 25 at Chashma Point, has gone viral on social media. In the footage, the inspector is seen speaking in a threatening tone and saying, "I will not pay. While the inspector had earlier made an advance payment for a separate pair of glasses, Singh said the unpaid amount was for this separate repair. Meanwhile, the Mirzapur Police also released a statement later acknowledging the situation and clarifying some facts. They confirmed that while the inspector did indeed pay in advance for one pair of spectacles, he declined to pay the additional Rs 800 for the separate lens replacement and stood firm despite protest from the shopkeeper. Later, the police official left the shop without paying the remaining amount.
