Ministry of Culture to Host Saudi Cultural Week in Osaka
The event highlights the "Year of Handicrafts 2025" as a key aspect of Saudi cultural heritage, showcasing the quality and creativity of Saudi handmade products to the Japanese and international communities. It also coincides with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Japan, SPA reported.
Taking part in the event are the Heritage Commission, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth), and the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy, each presenting a series of interactive activities that celebrate Saudi heritage and reflect its rich cultural depth and historical roots.
The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) will showcase photographic content that highlights the historical and cultural ties between the Kingdom and Japan.
The Saudi Pavilion at Expo 2025 will feature over 700 cultural activities, offering visitors an immersive experience of the Kingdom's rich heritage. It will also showcase Saudi Arabia's efforts in sustainability and national transformation through creative, informative presentations that reflect its traditions, progress, and future vision.
The Saudi Cultural Week in Osaka is part of a series of cultural weeks regularly organized by the Ministry of Culture to promote international cultural exchange.
The event aims to deepen cultural ties between the Kingdom and Japan, foster connections between their peoples, and open new avenues for international collaboration in creative fields, contributing to the global presence and influence of Saudi culture.

Speakers include Dr. Mohammed Alhussein, CEO of Mozn AI, and Dr. Wafa Alsubail, founder of the children's library Kan Ya Makan. The session will be moderated by Reem Busati. On the same day, the Sports for All Federation hosts a panel titled 'Learning Through Play: The Success of Our Neighborhood Clubs Initiative.' The discussion will focus on how the initiative, which started in a single neighborhood school, has expanded into a nationwide model promoting physical activity, inclusivity and community well-being. Speakers include Lama Al-Muhana, Dalal Al-Shebaiky, and moderator Reem Al-Shalhoub. On July 25, the Music Commission will present 'AI & Creative Art,' a session highlighting MusiqAI, a digital platform that uses artificial intelligence to support music education and professional development. The session will include speakers Manar Alhawiti, Saqer Alghuwainem, and moderator Ahmed Karkanawi. All sessions will be held at the Saudi Arabia Pavilion's Collaboration Hub and will feature live Japanese translation. The events are a part of more than 150 business-focused sessions scheduled throughout the six-month exposition, offering a platform for dialogue on investment, sustainability, innovation, and education. TOKYO: The Saudi Ministry of Culture hosted the Saudi Cultural Week in Osaka from July 12 to 15 at the Osaka Expo's Gallery EAST to celebrate Saudi culture and the cultural intersections between Japan and Saudi Arabia. The event was held in honor of the Kingdom's designation of 2025 as the Year of Handicrafts and highlighted artistic exchange between the two countries. It offered a diverse program of exhibitions, performances and interactive showcases that invited visitors to explore the Kingdom's cultural heritage and learn about the traditions shared by both nations.
