Awesome All Blacks sink France to seal series win
Savea took over the captaincy from the injured Scott Barrett on Saturday and under his leadership New Zealand produced a more intense and physical performance than in the first Test in which they scraped home 31-27.
The All Blacks dominated through their forwards against a French team that had 10 changes to their starting line-up from the first Test, and still lacked most of their Six Nations stars.
"This week we talked about our defence and we wanted to bring fire in that area and we did that in most parts of the game," Savea said.
"I'm proud of our boys for just sticking with it and doing a good job tonight."
With greater control of possession, New Zealand were able to set a higher tempo than in the first Test and scored six tries to two.
The All Blacks were dangerous around the fringes of breakdowns through Savea and Cam Roigard and unstoppable when they got the ball wide to fullback Will Jordan and winger Rieko Ioane, who scored tries.
After a Beauden Barrett penalty, Roigard scored the first try of the match on 14th minutes when he linked with Savea who broke on the blindside.
Savea crossed in the 23rd, pivoting away a lineout drive to touch down while New Zealand were reduced to 14 men with Beauden Barrett in the sin bin.
Hooker Codie Taylor scored from another lineout drive in the 29th minute, then back-rower Tupou Vaa'i ended the first half with a try from a superb handling movement which involved Savea, Ioane and centre Billy Proctor.

France made five changes to start of the second half and produced their first try in the 47th minute through fullback Leo Barre.
The All Blacks responded with tries to Jordan in the 54th minute and Ioane in the 62nd, again from slick handling.
France had the last say when they scored in the 77th minute through Ireland-born lock Joshua Brennan, but New Zealand regained the Dave Gallagher Trophy for the first time in seven years.

Italian Journalist Reveals Backstory Of Inter Milan Pursuit Of Atalanta Talisman: ‘He Wasn't Even A Target At First'
Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin says that initially, Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman wasn't even on Inter Milan's radar as a target. Biasin explained on Telelombardia, via FCInter1908, that the Nerazzurri's pursuit of the Nigerian is largely opportunistic after having been offered the player by his agents. Inter Milan are reportedly pushing for a deal to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman. The links between the Nerazzurri and Lookman first emerged a couple weeks ago. Since then, Inter have made an offer, which Atalanta rejected. Then, this week they made a second bid. Reports suggest that Inter are awaiting Atalanta's response to their second offer imminently. The Nerazzurri are aiming to wrap up Lookman's signing as soon as possible. If Inter are able to pull of a deal for Lookman, it would certainly be one of the more high profile transfers of the summer in Serie A. Biasin: 'Ademola Lookman Wasn't Even A Target For Inter At First' BERGAMO, ITALY – JANUARY 21: Ademola Lookman of Atalanta celebrates scoring his team's fourth goal during the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD7 match between Atalanta BC and SK Sturm Graz at Stadio di Bergamo on January 21, 2025 in Bergamo, Italy. (Photo by) Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin explained the background and reasoning behind Inter's interest in Lookman. 'Inter are doing well as it is,' he said. 'Oaktree don't want to change things.' Biasin explained that 'they never said they only want to sign young players.' 'Just that they want to lower the average age of the squad.' 'Lookman obviously wasn't a target in their plans at first,' said Biasin. 'But then at some point, agents contacted them, bringing up the possibility.' 'And obviously the club management found the option to be interesting.' 'Oaktree saw the chance to further improve the team with this deal,' said Biasin. 'And they gave the green light to the directors, who've done so well in recent years.' Biasin anticipated that 'I'd be very surprised if he didn't arrive at Inter.' 'Particularly because there's no Plan B, despite having read some names recently. If Lookman doesn't arrive, Inter would have to look for a Plan B.'

Lottie Woad five shots off pace after AIG Women's Open first round
Lottie Woad was five shots off the pace as Japanese pair Rio Takeda and Eri Okayama shared the first-round lead at the AIG Women's Open. Surrey sensation Woad carded a level-par 72 at a blustery Royal Porthcawl on a day the 21-year-old sensation was under huge scrutiny and Mimi Rhodes shot 69 to finish as the top English player. Woad entered the final major of the year as tournament favourite, despite this being only her second event as a professional. She had won her first at the Women's Scottish Open last weekend, a remarkable success coming on the back of victory at the Irish Open and a tied-third finish in The Evian Championship in her final weeks as an amateur. Woad, playing alongside the last two Open champions Lydia Ko and Lillia Vu, drew large galleries on the South Wales links and showed battling qualities despite not playing her best golf. Ko signed for a 73 and Vu 74 as Woad had 10 pars, four birdies and four bogeys in tough conditions. Woad drained a 20-foot putt to birdie the opening hole, but found a greenside bunker at the third and dropped a shot after failing to keep her chip on the green. Another shot went at the fifth, but Woad holed a long-range putt at the sixth to get back to par. Wayward tee shots at the 11th and 15th cost Woad further strokes, but a fine approach to the 14th produced a birdie and another to loud cheers came at the par-five 18th. 'I knew I had to get back to even,' Woad told Sky Sports. 'I'm off early (on Friday) and I'll just try a get a good score together. 'It's a great test, definitely challenges you. If you hit a bad shot you're going to be punished.' Rhodes played in the 2024 Curtis Cup before turning professional and has enjoyed a spectacular year on the Ladies European Tour with three victories. The 23-year-old from Bath added an eagle at the ninth to four birdies for a fine three-under par score of 69 to share fourth place. Rhodes said: 'I've had a few up and down weeks in the last few weeks, so I'm really happy to be striking it well and putting at my best again. 'I was coming in fresh and open-minded, it was so fun to have so many friends and family here supporting me.' Japanese players dominated the top of the leaderboard with Takeda and Okayama firing 67s and Miyu Yamashita recording five birdies and an eagle in a round of 68. Three more Japanese players – Chisato Iwai, Mao Saigo and Shiho Kuwaki – were in a big bunch of players on 69. World number one Nelly Korda and home favourite Darcey Harry, from nearby Penarth and a Royal Porthcawl member, were in a group at two under-par. Georgia Hall, the 2018 Open champion, shot a one-under par 70 and fellow English player Charley Hull carded a topsy-turvy 73. Hull recovered from a double bogey six at the second, and being three-over through three, with five birdies in six holes. Four consecutive bogeys on the back nine dropped her down the field but a birdie at the 18th moved her within seven shots of the leaders.

The Reds have had their eyes on the Swede all year as the ultimate answer to their problems up top. LFC Kits Shop Now LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now There's no real doubt that Isak would happily join the club. He's pushing for an exit from Newcastle - the problem is whether the Magpies would sell. Liverpool have been willing to put up a British transfer record fee to sign Isak. Newcastle have been clear they don't want the money. Recent developments suggest they might have had a change of heart, though. And that's why Liverpool's efforts to sign Isak have moved up a gear over the last week or two. But in doing that, they've seemingly left a star stranded elsewhere. One who was actually hoping to move to Anfield. Rodrygo Goes wanted Liverpool AS claims Rodrygo Goes is waiting for Liverpool to make an offer for him. He's expected to leave Real Madrid this summer, even if he's not entirely certain he wants to. But new boss Xabi Alonso isn't a massive fan of the Brazilian. He's now seen as a high-profile exit and initials reports suggested Liverpool wanted Rodrygo to replace Luis Diaz. Diaz has now joined Bayern Munich, of course, opening up a potential signing. Only, the AS report makes it clear that Liverpool aren't really there anymore.
