NASCAR: Trackhouse Racing Owner Breaks Silence on Split With Daniel Suarez
Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks has broken his silence on the split with driver Daniel Suarez after the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. Marks explained the situation that eventually led him and Suarez to part ways mutually.
Suarez secured two Cup victories with Trackhouse since he joined the team in 2021. Now, Marks revealed that it was time for the team to move on, while hinting that his relationship with Suarez remains the same. In addition, Marks also said that he would help his friend find his next opportunity. He said:
"Look, Daniel's been a huge part of this company for four and a half years now and when we sat down and mapped out our three-year and our five-year plan and the sponsorships and everything that we're trying to accomplish over the next five years of the company, we just got to a point where we felt like that relationship had beared a lot of fruit for us, but it just was time to move on.
"So, as we grow and as the team grows, obviously, we have to identify different opportunities. Look, Daniel has been a huge part of this company and a great friend of mine. We met last night, me and him in the hotel for an hour down in the lobby and we talked about our time together, everything that we've accomplished together and him and I are in a really good place.

Newsweek Sports reported Suarez's statement early this month after he and Trackhouse agreed to split. He wrote:
"Trackhouse and I have mutually agreed to part ways at the end of the 2025 season. I've had some of the best years of my Cup Series career at Trackhouse. We had great successes as a team and I gained some incredible friends.
"We took a team nobody had even heard of in 2021 and in just a couple of years we were winning races and running upfront on a weekly basis. Just like the seasons in a year, sometimes things change and we have agreed to each go in our own direction.
"I wish Trackhouse nothing but the best, this 99 team will always be special to me. And I like I always say, The best is ahead!"

Erik van Rooyen withdraws from Wyndham Championship late Friday afternoon
There was another withdrawal at the 2025 Wyndham Championship, as Erik van Rooyen tapped out with a back injury Friday afternoon, according to the PGA Tour. The South African was 1 over through 14 holes (he started on No. 10) in his second round. He was 4 over overall, well off the projected cut line of 4 under. There were four previous withdrawals since Sunday from this event, the final one of the 2025 regular season for the PGA Tour and van Rooyen's departure was announced 10 minutes after the tournament officials suspended play for "dangerous weather." In the projected FedEx Cup Playoffs standings at the time of his WD, van Rooyen was 68th, down four spots from where he was when the tournament started. Only the top 70 in the points on Sunday night advance to the first event in the postseason, next week's FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis. PGA Tour money leaders: Open champion Scottie Scheffler opens big lead over No. 2 Rory McIlroy
There's no catching Scottie Scheffler on the PGA Tour money list for the rest of the regular season, even with a two-week break he's planning before the FedEx Cup Playoffs begin with the St. Jude Classic Aug. 7-10. Scheffler's victory in the British Open and its $3.1 million first-place check pushed his title to more than $19 million this season, more than $3 million over second-place Rory McIlroy. Since the combined first-place checks for this week's 3M Championship ($1,512,000) and next week's Wyndham Championship ($1,476,000) are less than $3 million, Scheffler can't be caught until the playoffs. The first two playoff events offer $3.6 million to the winner and the Tour Championship in Atlanta Aug. 21-24 has an $18 million payout. Little movement on the PGA Tour money list Chris Gotterup had another good week on the British Isles, following his victory in the Scottish Open with solo third at Royal Portrush and $1,128. That pushes him from 51st to 30th with $3,714,337. He's earned more than $2.7 million in the last two weeks. Another big jump was by Harris English, who earned $1,759,000 for his solo second and moved from 15th to eighth. He now has $7,734,152. Ryan Gerard's victory in the Barracuda Championship earned $720,000, moving him from 44th on the money list to 31st with a bit more than $3.6 million. Other than that, movement was relatively minor among the money leaders. PGA Tour money leaders Through the British Open, Barracuda Championship 1. Scottie Scheffler $19,202,883 2.
