Here are three games to watch out for in the Premier Sports Cup groups:
Hearts vs Dunfermline
An immediate eye catcher pits former Hibs boss Neil Lennon's Pars up against newly appointed Derek McInnes' Hearts with both managers looking to make statements early on in the year. Both clubs have excellent fan bases, and this one will have no shortage of needle in the mix for them to enjoy.
Ross County vs Partick Thistle
A preview for what may be to come in the Championship, this tie brings Don Cowie's Staggies a taste of what they will be up against as they feel the fall to the Championship.
Thistle will once again wish to be in the promotion mix and they know that in order to do that teams like Ross County will need to be overcame so a great test lies for them here also.

St Johnstone vs East Kilbride
Fellow top flight relegation victims St Johnstone will be out to make a statement ahead of their own campaign to bounce back up to the top flight and will have no better opportunity than to take the game to SPFL newcomers East Kilbride who make their first appearance since promotion to league 2 for the first every time.
Mick Kennedys Kilby on the other hand will relish this opportunity against a top club to show they may be the newsboy's, but they are not to be underestimated.

Granddaughter of major Edinburgh film star dating Scottish footballer

The granddaughter of an Edinburgh film star celebrated Scottish cup glory with her Aberdeen star boyfriend, Dante Polvara. The midfielder was a hero at Hampden as Aberdeen Football Club pulled off a shock Scottish cup victory over Scotland, and by his side was none other than Natasha Connery, granddaughter of Sir Sean Connery- the original James Bond. During the match he was brought off the bench and scored a penalty in the shootout as Aberdeen FC won 4-3, reports The Daily Record. Adding another twist, former Rangers chairman Sir David Murray revealed that Connery secretly invested £1million into the club. Murray wrote in his book Mettle: "For years, Sean and I would share a catch-up call every weekend to chat through the football and we would inevitably kick off with Rangers. "After all, he had put £1million into the club which no one knew about at the time or even since. "I was raising £50million in 2004 and Sean asked if he could invest. "I told him that it was football, that there were no guarantees and he should get professional advice but he was adamant - he wanted in." Five Scots star in Lions' thumping win over Western Force

Finn Russell shone in his first appearance of the 2025 tour [Getty Images] Five Scotland stars were involved in the British & Irish Lions tour-opening victory over the Western Force in Perth, with Huw Jones making his debut. Pierre Schoeman, Scott Cummings, Finn Russell and Sione Tuipulotu were all in from the start while Jones entered in the 55th minute. Advertisement Russell was making his first start of the tour, having missed last weekend's loss to Argentina after guiding Bath to the Premiership title in England. He started in fine fashion, as his cross-kick helped set up captain Dan Sheehan's opening try, before almost scoring a fine solo effort with a disguised tap-and-go in the 35th minute, popping up for Elliot Daly to score when he himself was held short. Tuipulotu was shifted from outside to inside centre and looked slightly more comfortable in partnership with Garry Ringrose. He's the only player to play every minute of the tour so far. Eagle-eyed fans also noticed that Welsh scrum-half Tomos Williams limped from the field after his second try, seemingly nursing a hamstring injury. Advertisement Lions' head coach Andy Farrell has said it's "too early to know" what the impact will be, but Scotland's Ben White will surely be high in Farrell's thinking if a new number nine is needed.

Cormack Park upgrades part of £8m Aberdeen investment

Aberdeen say they have secured investment of £8m, mainly to be used to improve the club's training ground, Cormack Park. The installation of a new full-sized indoor arena will be part of the project. Advertisement "The vision is for a new covered 4G facility to be situated on the current undeveloped Neale Cooper Pitch 6, to allow for all-year-round use for our men and women's teams, both academies, AFCCT programmes and other local junior and amateur teams," the club said. "We will also be making some additional improvements to Pittodrie Stadium over the next two years, in line with our previously announced medium-term plan of remaining at our current home." And chairman Dave Cormack added: "Together with our investors, I remain committed to driving Aberdeen FC forward and continuing to make our supporters and the region proud of its football club."
