Este Haim reveals relationship breakdown over her type 1 diabetes

Perth Now04-06-2025
Este Haim's boyfriend dumped her because she has diabetes.
The Haim bassist - who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, where the body is unable to produce insulin correctly, when she was 14 years old - had advised her then-partner that there was a chance her future children could also develop the condition, and was stunned when his reaction was to end their relationship.
In an interview with Britain's GQ magazine, Este said: "I had a guy break up with me because I said that there was a possibility that our kid would have diabetes.
"He was like, 'Then why are we here?' And I was like, 'What?!'"
The Haim sisters have been sharing their dating woes on TikTok in honour of their new single 'Relationships', and Alana Haim admitted one story she'd told was worse than she described on the platform, having ignored advice from her siblings and flown from Los Angeles to London for New Year's Eve to meet a mystery musician she'd been dating for a year, only for him to high-five her at midnight and for it to later emerge that he'd been cheating on her.
She said: 'I was 20, and I was so in love with this guy in a band. Everyone thinks it's about another guy and it's not him, that theory is wrong.'
Discussing flying over to the UK over the festive period, she added: 'And then he ghosted me the whole week.
'And then I found out he was cheating on me with his ex… I was devastated. Devastated!'
Alana Haim, 33, also recalled another horror story, which saw her dump her boyfriend after he issued her an ultimatum when she was offered a role in 2021's 'Licorice Pizza', but she has no regrets.
She said: "I had a boyfriend that gave me an ultimatum between doing 'Licorice Pizza' and staying with him.
'I obviously made the right choice ...'
Singer Danielle Haim, 36, split up with the band's co-producer Ariel Rechtshaid in 2022 after nine years together, but she has learned she is more than "okay alone".
She said: "Not only okay, but so happy. Sorry to be that bitch but I'm like, really having a great time being by myself. And now, unless someone's gonna make me so much more happy, I'm good."
Este announced her engagement to Jonathan Levin in February.
Sharing a selfie on Instagram at the time, she showed off a sparkly diamond ring on her wedding finger, and donned a blue t-shirt that read "I'm taken".

Hulk Hogan 'couldn't have been prouder' of son Nick

Hulk Hogan's widow believes the late wrestler "couldn't have been prouder" of his son. The wrestling legend - whose real name was Terry Bollea - passed away after suffering cardiac arrest on Thursday (24.07.25), aged 71, and to mark Nick Hogan's 35th birthday on Sunday (27.07.25), Sky Daily paid a touching tribute to her stepson as she thanked him for his "strength and heart". Sky wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of Hulk with his arms around Nick: 'Happy birthday @nickhogan! We love you so much. "Your dad couldn't have been prouder of the son you are… loyal, loving, hard-working, and always there when it mattered most. 'The strength and heart you've shown all along means more than I can say. "I'm so grateful for you, and I know Terry felt the same every single day.' Nick - whose mother is Hulk's first wife Linda Hogan - thanked Sky for her kind words. He replied: 'Thank you so much Sky, I really appreciate everything you did for my father and are doing for all of us at this time." Meanwhile, Nick paid tribute to his late father over the weekend and remembered the wrestler as his "hero". He wrote on Instagram: "My dad was the most incredible person I've ever known and will always be my hero. He was the most kind, loving and amazing father anybody could ask for. I feel so blessed to have had the greatest dad in the world. He was not only the best dad but also my mentor and my best friend. He always has been my best friend and I love him and miss him more than I could ever explain. "I thanked him for everything he has ever done for me and told him how much I loved him and hugged him every chance I got. I spent a lot of time with him the past few years after moving back to Florida to be closer to him and I am so grateful for those memories. They are the best moments in my life." Nick admitted that he'll miss his dad "forever". He said: "I will always remember the lessons and advice he gave me and carry on in a way that I know would make him proud. Thank you for being the best dad in the world and thank you for being my best friend. I love you so much Big Dog and I will miss you forever. (sic)" Nick has also thanked his social media followers for their messages of support since his dad passed away. He wrote: "Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me and comforted me over the last few days. It truly means a lot. I'm sorry to everyone I have not responded to yet. This has been overwhelming and extremely difficult. Hearing so many kind words and stories about my dad's life, interactions and experiences with everyone has been incredible and comforting."

Fans in a frenzy at possibility Tomorrowland could come to Australia in 2026

Eagle-eyed fans believe Tomorrowland, or at least an offshoot of the world-famous electronic dance music festival, is Australia-bound for the first time in 2026. Attendees walking towards the CORE stage at this year's festival in Belgium over the weekend spotted a map installation that looked to be teasing upcoming locations. Among them was Melbourne, which appeared as a potential host in November 2026. A video of the map was shared on TikTok, where it has racked up more than 120,000 likes. Many believe at the very least Tomorrowland's CORE stage is on its way as part of a boutique event series. 'I wanna go so freaking bad,' one person said. If it does pan out that way, it would mark the bucket-list festival's Australian debut. If must be said that there is no confirmation at this stage. has reached out to Tomorrowland representatives for details but are yet to hear back. The TikTok video also suggested a festival could be held in Los Angeles in May 2026. Tomorrowland is held annually in Boom, Belgium, attracting 400,000 festivalgoers from around the world. It was first held in 2005 and has grown to become one of the world's biggest music festivals. Just two days before the 2025 event was due to start, a raging fire destroyed the famous main stage. But heavy metal band Metallica came to the rescue, reportedly offering up some of their world tour stage equipment that was in storage to ensure the show could go on. Tomorrowland spin-off festivals have previously been held in the US, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico.

Golden Globes host's epic tribute to Perth after live show

Comedian Nikki Glaser is known for her devastating roasts on Hollywood's elite, but the touring star had only kind words to say about Perth as she departed the State following her Friday night show at Perth HPC. Gaining a new legion of fans after hosting the Golden Globes in January, the 41-year-old American brought her popular Alive & Unwell tour to Australia earlier this month. Sharing her favourite moments to Instagram from the back end of her tour, Glaser celebrated her brief WA stay by rocking a 'Perth' embossed red T-shirt and cork hat as she embraced Aussie culture. 'Brisbane! Adelaide! Perth! You gave me the biggest crowds and some of the very best shows of my life. I don't know what I'm going to do with these Vegemite and mushroom lady jokes now,' she told fans. 'Thank you for making me feel so welcome in your incredible country. And turns out, I look stunning in a cork hat? I'm already figuring out when I can come back. I love you!' Nikki Glaser enjoyed her time in Perth as she toured Australia. Credit: Nikki Glaser/IG / IG Glaser has made a habit of donning merch emblazoned with her local crowd's location, as seen in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide. However, the comic's deviation from her signature low-cut dresses was not Glaser's only attempt to ingratiate herself with locals. Audiences expressed their appreciation at hearing Daryl Braithwaite's iconic Horses anthem ringing out at her shows. 'Nikki Glaser becoming a Braithmate was not on my 2025 bingo card!' one fan said. Another declared, 'it was the most fun show ever!' after seeing the sharp-witted comic in Perth. If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . Glaser has enjoyed a near 20-year stand-up career, but arguably broke into the upper echelon of TV comics in 2024 following her viral Tom Brady Roast performance. The crowd-pleaser followed that up with her HBO comedy special Someday You'll Die later in the year, earning her first Emmy nomination. And the star's rise and rise has not yet reached its ceiling, with Glaser confirmed to be reprising her role as host of the Golden Globes in 2026.
