Lucknow: In Chitrakoot to attend the 528th birth anniversary celebrations of Goswami Tulsidas on Thursday, Chief Minister

said the govt was making all efforts to make the city, the karmabhoomi of the revered saint, into a hub of faith, safety and self-reliance.
"The city is known for its cultural and spiritual legacy. Lord Ram had spent over 11 years in Chitrakoot. Now the govt is making efforts to develop it into a land of faith, security and self-reliance. The govt is planning to construct a riverfront along the Yamuna to boost tourism and local employment," he said. Yogi highlighted ongoing efforts to beautify and develop key pilgrimage and educational sites in Chitrakoot like the Gramodaya University, Ashram Paddhati Vidyalaya, Valmiki Ashram and Kamadgiri.
He described institutions like Gramodaya University as the foundation of a self-reliant India and urged everyone to contribute to spreading Chitrakoot's spiritual and cultural glory.
Earlier, the CM offered prayers at Tulsi Janmkutir and did 'darshan' of the handwritten manuscript of the Shri Ramcharitmanas preserved at the Manas Mandir. He also attended the Tulsi Sahitya Sammelan held at Tulsi Resort, where he met with spiritual leaders Sant Murari Bapu and Jagadguru Shri Rambhadracharya.

He also planted Harishankari saplings and then visited an exhibition set up by the agriculture department. The CM also interacted with children at the Parmanand Ashram Paddhati Vidyalaya and distributed chocolates. At a public gathering, Yogi noted that the region was the 'karmabhoomi' of revered figures such as Goswami Tulsidas, Maharishi Valmiki and Nanaji Deshmukh.
He highlighted the efforts made by his govt to develop the Ram Van Gaman Marg, Bundelkhand Expressway, Defence Corridor, and integrated tourism infrastructure in Chitrakoot.
Talking about a significant rise in crop production, particularly pulses, oilseeds and maize, the CM assured people that his govt would continue to support farmers through soil testing and agricultural insurance.
While discussing the relevance of the Defence Corridor, the CM issued a warning to Pakistan, asserting that any hostile act against India would be met with a decisive response. "With the Defence Corridor, even regions like Chitrakoot would play a vital role in strengthening the nation's defence manufacturing capabilities," he added.

7.2cr voters in post-SIR Bihar draft roll, against 7.9cr before
PTI file photo New Delhi: The draft roll for Bihar published by the Election Commission on Friday includes 7.24 crore electors who submitted their enumeration forms within the July 25 deadline. Bihar's electorate, as per the draft roll, is over 65.6 lakh less than its 7.9 crore strength on June 24, 2025, ahead of the onset of the special intensive revision. This figure of 65.6 lakh, made public by EC on July 27 after conclusion of the first phase of SIR, includes 22 lakh dead electors, 36 lakh permanently shifted or absent/untraceable, 7 lakh voters enrolled at more than one place and electors who did not submit their enumeration forms. As many as 15 districts have recorded a higher than state average, though not alarming, percentage of exclusions from the draft roll. These include Gopalganj (15.1%), Purnea (12.1%), Kishanganj (11.8%), Madhubani (10.4%) and Bhagalpur (10.2%). Kishanganj and Purnea are districts with allegedly high concentration of illegal migrants from Bangladesh.
