Iran enacts law suspending cooperation with UN nuclear watchdog

Ammon News - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian put into effect on Wednesday a law passed by parliament last week to suspend cooperation with the U.N. nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, a move the United States called "unacceptable." Iran has accused the IAEA of siding with Western countries and providing a justification for Israel's air strikes, which began a day after the U.N. agency's board voted to declare Iran in violation of obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The law stipulates that any future inspection of Iran's nuclear sites by the IAEA needs approval by Tehran's Supreme National Security Council. "We are aware of these reports. The IAEA is awaiting further official information from Iran," the IAEA said in a statement. Reuters

Grave crisis deepens in Gaza amid ongoing genocide

Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in Gaza announced Wednesday that graves have run out in most areas of the Strip, as the death toll continues to rise due to nearly 22 months of what it describes as an ongoing genocide by 'Israel'. In a statement, the ministry said the 'systematic targeting of civilians and continued acts of genocide' have coincided with the depletion of burial space across Gaza. Since October 2023, the 'Israeli' army has fully or partially destroyed more than 40 cemeteries throughout the enclave, the ministry added. It also noted that 'Israeli' forces are preventing Palestinians from accessing cemeteries in areas under military control, leading to the shrinking of burial spaces, exhaustion of existing cemeteries, and a growing shortage of graves for burying both the dead and those killed in Israeli attacks. Compounding the crisis, the army is reportedly blocking the entry of burial shrouds, construction supplies, and other essential materials, preventing proper Islamic burials. 'Israeli' evacuation orders have further reduced available land for burial, as many plots have been turned into shelters for displaced families. As a result, bodies are accumulating in hospital courtyards, and schoolyards and private homes are being used for emergency burials. Some families have reopened old graves to accommodate multiple bodies. The ministry also reported that the cost of preparing a single grave has surged to between 700 and 1,000 shekels (USD 1 ≈ 3.37 shekels), placing additional strain on grieving families. It called on Arab and Islamic countries, as well as humanitarian organizations, to support its newly launched 'Dignity Campaign' to construct free graves and urgently provide burial supplies.

VIDEO: UK Parliament passes order labeling Palestine Action as terrorist group

British Members of Parliament voted overwhelmingly on Wednesday to designate Palestine Action a terrorist organization. The amendment to the Terrorism Act 2000 passed with 385 votes in favor and 26 against. It includes the proscription of three groups: Palestine Action, the neo-Nazi Maniacs Murder Cult, and the Russia Imperial Movement. The measure now heads to the House of Lords for approval on Thursday. If passed, it will become law at midnight on July 9. Once enacted, it will be a criminal offence, punishable by up to 14 years in prison, to be a member of, or offer support to, any of the three organizations, unless legal appeals by the groups are successful. While the government has argued the ban is based on national security assessments, several Labour MPs voiced strong opposition, particularly to the inclusion of Palestine Action in the same category as the other two groups. They warned the move 'threatens basic freedoms and sets a dangerous precedent for political dissent,' arguing that Palestine Action, known for its direct action protests against companies linked to the 'Israeli' military, should be viewed as a campaign group rather than a terrorist threat. Some MPs acknowledged the group's history of criminal damage but insisted that its actions did not warrant classification as terrorism. They also criticized the decision to bundle all three organizations into a single vote, which prevented Parliament from considering each on its own merits.
