Grave crisis deepens in Gaza amid ongoing genocide
In a statement, the ministry said the 'systematic targeting of civilians and continued acts of genocide' have coincided with the depletion of burial space across Gaza.
Since October 2023, the 'Israeli' army has fully or partially destroyed more than 40 cemeteries throughout the enclave, the ministry added.
It also noted that 'Israeli' forces are preventing Palestinians from accessing cemeteries in areas under military control, leading to the shrinking of burial spaces, exhaustion of existing cemeteries, and a growing shortage of graves for burying both the dead and those killed in Israeli attacks.
Compounding the crisis, the army is reportedly blocking the entry of burial shrouds, construction supplies, and other essential materials, preventing proper Islamic burials.
'Israeli' evacuation orders have further reduced available land for burial, as many plots have been turned into shelters for displaced families.
As a result, bodies are accumulating in hospital courtyards, and schoolyards and private homes are being used for emergency burials. Some families have reopened old graves to accommodate multiple bodies.
The ministry also reported that the cost of preparing a single grave has surged to between 700 and 1,000 shekels (USD 1 ≈ 3.37 shekels), placing additional strain on grieving families.
It called on Arab and Islamic countries, as well as humanitarian organizations, to support its newly launched 'Dignity Campaign' to construct free graves and urgently provide burial supplies.

Islamic Jihad supports Hamas in Gaza truce talks but demands guarantees
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), an ally of Hamas, expressed support on Saturday for planned negotiations aimed at establishing a truce with 'Israel' in Gaza. However, the group stressed the need for "guarantees" to ensure the talks would result in a lasting ceasefire. In a statement following Hamas's indication of readiness to engage in discussions, the PIJ said, "We presented (Hamas) a number of detailed points on the mechanism for putting in place the mediators' proposal, and we want additional guarantees to assure us (that Israel) will not resume its aggression after (the captives) are freed." On Friday, Hamas has concluded internal consultations and discussions with various Palestinian factions and political forces regarding the most recent ceasefire proposal submitted by mediators, according to a statement released by the group. Following the discussions, Hamas confirmed that it has officially submitted its response to the mediators, describing it as "positive." The proposal is aimed at ending the ongoing 'Israeli' aggression against the people of Gaza. "The movement has delivered its response to the mediators, which was characterized as positive," the statement read. "Hamas is fully prepared and serious about immediately entering a round of negotiations on the mechanism for implementing this framework." This development marks a potential breakthrough in efforts to secure a ceasefire and bring an end to months of the war on the Gaza Strip. It also reflects growing regional and international pressure to reach a negotiated solution amid worsening humanitarian conditions on the ground. Hamas's declared readiness to begin immediate negotiations is expected to place pressure on all parties involved, particularly the 'Israeli' side, to engage constructively in talks aimed at finalizing a sustainable ceasefire agreement.

Trump signs ‘Big, Beautiful Bill' into law during Independence Day event
US President Donald Trump signed his long-promised tax and spending package into law on Friday, finalizing what he dubbed the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' during an elaborate Independence Day event at the White House. Standing beside a crowd of Republican lawmakers on the South Lawn, Trump marked the moment with characteristic flair. Holding up a Sharpie marker, he smiled and declared, 'That's a good one,' before signing the bill. US President Donald Trump scored a major legislative win on Thursday after Congress passed his expansive tax and spending bill by a razor-thin margin, marking a defining moment in his second-term agenda and delivering on key campaign promises, including mass deportations and increased military spending. The bill, dubbed the "One Big Beautiful Bill" by House Speaker Mike Johnson, passed the House of Representatives 218-214 following intense overnight negotiations. The Senate had approved the package earlier this week. The legislation pushes forward a range of Trump's core policy priorities, including extending USD 4.5 trillion in tax breaks from his first term, funding for mass deportations, and significantly increasing defense and border enforcement budgets. It also reflects his firm grip over the Republican Party, with internal dissent in the GOP eventually overcome through pressure from leadership and the White House.
