Tennis pro Ben Shelton's feisty girlfriend who blasted BBC over famous dad
American tennis pro Ben Shelton has been making waves at Wimbledon - but it's his girlfriend Trinity Rodman who's stolen the spotlight after taking aim at the BBC for repeatedly getting her name wrong during coverage of his matches.
Trinity, a US football star, was courtside at the All England Club to cheer on her boyfriend when BBC commentator Andrew Castle called her 'Tiffany' multiple times and referred to her famous father, NBA legend Dennis Rodman.
Trinity didn't hold back, taking to Instagram to set the record straight. 'For those who don't know... my name is TRINITY, not Tiffany. Also... my dad's not even in MY life, no need to bring him up during HIS matches... Thank you,' she wrote to her 600,000 followers.
Ben, 22, and Trinity, 23, went public with their relationship in March this year, sharing a cosy selfie on Instagram after weeks of playful back-and-forth on TikTok.
'Shooters shoot I guess,' Trinity wrote in the comments after Ben posted a snap of her planting a kiss on his cheek in a lift mirror.
"I feel like, you know, posting your girlfriend on Instagram is a more normal thing," Ben told the Post. "I guess because of who it is, is why people went nuts a little bit. But yeah, kinda crazy how much it did blow up… and I realised, 'Wow, people care about my life that much.' But yeah, [we're] happy for sure."
Since then, the pair have been spotted supporting each other across the world, from tennis tournaments in Europe to Trinity's US national team fixtures.
Trinity, a striker for Washington Spirit and the US Women's National Team, is the youngest-ever player to be drafted into the National Women's Soccer League and helped her country to gold at the Paris Olympics last summer.
But she's made it clear she wants to be recognised for her own achievements rather than as 'Dennis Rodman's daughter'. Her father, once one of basketball's biggest names, has had little involvement in her life.
Shelton, meanwhile, is one of tennis's brightest stars and has already reached Grand Slam semi-finals at the US Open and Australian Open.
Trinity has been in his players' box at Wimbledon this week, celebrating his wins with his family as he stormed into the quarter-finals.
The couple have spoken in interviews about how they balance their long-distance relationship, with both juggling packed schedules and international travel.
After scoring a goal for the US. in a win over Brazil on April 5, Rodman stepped away from the pitch and recently went on medical leave indefinitely to address ongoing chronic back pain.
One third of last summer's sensational Triple Espresso at the Paris Olympics, Rodman told reporters earlier this year that she doesn't think her back 'will ever be 100 percent' again.
While fans were thrilled to see Trinity cheering Ben on in Wimbledon, many were quick to back her after the BBC commentary blunder, calling it 'disrespectful' and 'lazy'.
One viewer wrote on social media: 'It's 2025. If you're covering the world's biggest tennis tournament, learn the names of the people in the players' box. Trinity is a US sporting icon in her own right.'
