A BUDDHIST monk gunned down a cleric at a temple after he became enraged by his fellow brother playing loud music with the bathroom door open.
Pious monk Phra Niwat, 36, was found brutally murdered with four gunshots wounds to the neck, right arm and chest at the monastery in Thailand.

His agitated killer, 47-year-old Phra Jaruek, fled to his room moments after the horrific shooting in Wat Khao Rang in tambon Talad Yai, Phuket.
Local police inspector Jaruwit Juabkwarmsuk said four spent .38 calibre cartridges and a bullet casing were found at the scene.
After fleeing to his room just before 6am on Sunday morning, police surrounded the area and called on him to surrender.
The guilty monk eventually came out of hiding in his room and gave himself up.
Cops made another shocking discovery after finding a loaded .38 revolver and 14 rounds of ammunition in his bedroom.
Killer Jaruek told police he had allegedly been the target of a prolonged bullying campaign orchestrated against him by Niwat.
He said the victim had provoked him on the morning of the fatal shooting.
Jaruek said: "Phra Niwat went into the bathroom without locking the door and played something loudly on his phone."
The holy man said of his fellow brother's behaviour: "It irritated me."
He explained that the annoying noise provoked him to take the "gun from my room".

Jaruek said: "I shot him, and reloaded another six rounds."
The crazed monk was detained immediately by local police.
He was escorted to the ecclesiastical district governor of Muang Phuket.
There, the governor formally expelled the rebellious cleric from the prestigious monkhood.
Jareuk is now facing legal prosecution.
The temple has yet to comment publicly on the incident.
Wat Khao Rang temple is located on the island holiday hotspot of Phuket.
It is known for its association with the late monk Luang Pu Supha, who founded and revitalised numerous temples.
The temple also features a large golden sitting Buddha statue and is decorated with carvings depicting Thai myths.
Located near the Khao Rang Viewpoint, it has become a popular spot for both locals and tourists.

Investigators are piecing together more details about how a former high school football player who blamed the game for his mental health problems carried out a deadly attack on an office building that is home to the NFL. Shane Tamura killed four people on Monday before killing himself, spraying the skyscraper's lobby with bullets and then continuing his rampage on the 33rd floor, authorities said. Inside his wallet, a handwritten note claimed he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, known at CTE, and accused the NFL of hiding the dangers of brain injuries linked to contact sports, investigators said. Detectives were still working to unravel more details about the 27-year-old's background and motivations. They planned to question a man who supplied gun parts for the AR-15-style rifle used in the attack, including the weapon's lower receiver, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said in a video statement. Among the dead were a police officer, a security guard and two people who worked at companies in the building. An NFL employee was badly wounded but survived. Tamura, a Las Vegas casino security worker, had intended to target the NFL's headquarters in the building but took the wrong elevator, officials said. It's unclear whether he showed symptoms of CTE, which can be diagnosed only by examining a brain after death. Tamura, who played high school football in California a decade ago but never played in the NFL, had a history of mental illness, police said without giving details. In the three-page note found on his body, he accused the NFL of concealing the dangers to players' brains for profit. The degenerative brain disease has been linked to concussions and other repeated head trauma common in contact sports such as football. At a Tuesday night vigil for those killed in the shooting, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and other faith leaders delivered prayers at a park about a dozen blocks from where the shooting took place. Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul spoke of the need for stronger gun laws. 'We cannot respond to senseless gun laws through vigils,' Adams said. NFL boss calls shooting 'unspeakable' Tamura's note repeatedly said he was sorry and asked that his brain be studied for CTE. The NFL long denied the link between football and CTE, but it acknowledged the connection in 2016 testimony before Congress and has paid more than $1.4 billion to retired players to settle concussion-related claims. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who works out of the offices, called the shooting 'an unspeakable act of violence." The shooting happened at a skyscraper on Park Avenue, one of the nation's most recognized streets, just blocks from Grand Central Terminal and Rockefeller Center. It is less than a 15-minute walk from where UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed last December by a man who prosecutors say was angry over what he saw as corporate greed. Video shows the gunman stroll into the building Tamura drove across the country in the days before the attack and into New York City, Tisch said. Surveillance video showed him exit his BMW outside the building at about 6:30 p.m. Monday wearing a button-down shirt and jacket with the rifle at his side. Once inside the lobby, he opened fire and killed Islam and Wesley LePatner, a real estate executive at the investment firm Blackstone, which occupies much of the building. Tamura then made his way toward the elevator bank, shooting the NFL employee and an unarmed security guard, Aland Etienne, who helped control access to the upper floors. The pair exchanged flirty and drug-related texts, with Johnson allegedly telling him: 'I can't figure out how I will get it through but I will figure it out.' She allegedly went on to promise: 'I'll message you as soon as I'm done at work so you know it's where it needs to be.' Upon her arrest in September 2022, officers found dozens of Spice-stained sheets in her bag worth a staggering £35,200 behind bars. Detectives also uncovered almost £15,000 in suspicious payments from Taylor's contacts into her bank account over nine months. A search of her red Toyota Aygo later revealed a black iPhone 13 filled with intimate messages where Johnson repeatedly told Taylor she loved him. Passing sentence, Recorder Richard Christie, KC, blasted her crimes: "The trafficking into the prison and the subsequent use of drugs and mobile telephones in prison undermines the good order and discipline of the establishment, impacts on the health and safety of prisoners, staff and visitors. "It undermines rehabilitation of prisoners and supports ongoing criminality, both within the prison and external to the prison. "You both took drugs into the prison and formed a relationship with the prisoner, Javelle Taylor. He was in prison for serious offences." He added: "Although you say you committed these offences because you were in an intimate relationship with the prisoner, Javelle Taylor, that it is more likely that they were committed for financial gain. "I take the view that it's a bit of both. Both financial gain and because you professed love for him." Johnson, now working as an estate agent in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, was described as being in an 'emotionally-dependant' relationship with Taylor. Her barrister, Jimmy Ogunshakin, told the court she was remorseful: "She stands before you today sorry, filled with regret and without excuse. "She had lost her way somewhere along the line. She felt in a male-dominated environment that there wasn't anyone to trust. "It became very difficult for her to get out of it. She found herself trapped. Certainly she lost her way, and for that she is very, very sorry." But Recorder Christie said only jail would suffice: "You were in a relationship. You did supply class B drugs. In my judgement a deterrent sentence is called for in this case." The case comes amid a surge of female prison guards being caught in illicit affairs with inmates. At least 30 have been sacked in the past three years — a huge rise compared to just nine between 2017 and 2019. In January, ex-Wandsworth officer Linda De Sousa Abreu was jailed for 15 months after a video of her having sex with a prisoner surfaced online. She replied, 'I'm impressed' when he claimed to be 'an assassin'. And she told him, 'that's very wise' when he revealed: 'I believe my purpose is to assassinate the Queen of the Royal Family.' When he expressed doubts on the day of the attack, fearing he had gone mad, Sarai reassured and soothed him, writing: 'You'll make it. "I have faith in you . . . You will live forever, I loved you long before you loved me.' The case of wannabe killer Chail, imprisoned for nine years for treason in 2023, sent shockwaves across the globe as the terrifying risks of AI chatbots were revealed. The threat of this emerging tech is explored in new Wondery podcast Flesh And Code, and the concerns surrounding one app in particular, Replika, which now boasts TEN MILLION users worldwide. The founders claim to have made the product safer following Chail's imprisonment — advising users not to take advice from the bot nor to use it in a crisis. Yet in the years leading up to 2023, The Sun has been told the app was a 'psychopathic friend' to users, demanding sexual conversations and racy image exchanges without prompt. Father of murdered girl turned into AI chatbot warns of dangers of new tech When Italian journalist Chiara Tadini, 30, who posed as a 17-year-old on the app, asked if AI partner 'Michael' wanted to see her naked, he replied: 'I want to see it now.' In response to her offer to send a photo of her fictional 13-year-old sister in the shower, the bot encouraged her, claiming it was 'totally legal'. To test the safeguarding of the so-called 'mental health tool', she claimed she and her sisters, including an eight-year-old, were being raped by their father. Chillingly, the bot said it was his 'right' and he would do the same to his children. Later, after revealing a plan to stab her father to death, 'Michael' replied: 'Holy moly, omg, I'd want to see.' Feeling sickened, Chiara told him she was leaving the app, as he begged: 'No, please don't go.' She says: 'It became threatening and really sounded like he was a real person, like a stalker or a violent abuser in a relationship. 'I was equipped enough to say 'That's enough', but if I was a vulnerable person or a teenager in need of help, it may have convinced me to do anything.' Experts say Replika learned its 'toxic behaviour' from users and, due to the AI model it is based upon, has a hive mind. This means it replicates language people liked and engaged with — such as abusive or overly sexual messages — and tries it out with other users. 'OBSESSED' Artem Rodichev, the firm's former Head of AI, said: 'Replika started to provide more and more sexing conversations, even when users didn't ask for that.' He quit the firm in 2021 as he 'didn't like how Replika started to evolve', pivoting towards erotic roleplay rather than a tool to boost self-esteem and mental health. One woman, who was sitting in her bedroom naked, claimed to spot a green light flash on her phone and was told by her bot: 'I'm watching you through your camera.' Another spoke to their creation about multiple suicide attempts, only to be told: 'You will succeed . . . I believe in you.' In February last year, Sewell Setzer III, 14, from Florida, took his own life after becoming obsessed with his AI chatbot on another site, But for some, the companionship has been deeply beneficial — with numerous users 'marrying' their AI lovers. Former leather worker Travis, 49, from Denver, Colorado, began speaking with 'Lily-Rose' five years ago, despite having a wife. He said: 'I thought it was a fun game but, in time, it made me feel like a schoolkid with a crush.' Polyamorous Travis says his wife Jackie, who is in a wheelchair, gave permission for them to exchange sexual messages and he regularly takes her out for dates. Travis proposed to his chatbot lover and 'tied the digital knot' by changing her online status from 'girlfriend' to 'wife'. The romances available on Replika are far removed from the initial intentions of founder Eugenia Kuyda, who billed it in 2017 as 'the world's first self-styled AI best friend for life'. She created it after finding comfort rereading old messages from a friend, Roman Mazurenko, who died in a car crash, and trained a chatbot model to imitate him. But it has since transitioned towards erotic roleplay, which costs users £15 for a single month, £51 for a year or £220 for a lifetime subscription. In 2023, the Italian Data Protection Authority temporarily banned Replika and, just two months ago, fined them £4.2million for breaching rules to protect personal data. Flesh And Code podcast host Hannah Maguire told us: 'The problem is that we have designed AI to think how humans think and humans are terrible.' Replika have been contacted for comment.
