‘Guardians Camp' at Al Maqta'a Museum takes families on unique historical journey
AMEIANH ALZEYOUDI (ABU DHABI)A unique family-friendly camp held at Al Maqta'a Museum saw a huge turnout as it brought the community together to rediscover Abu Dhabi's history and marvel at its heritage treasures.Called Maqta'a Guardians Camp, the event was organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Police, and the Ministry of Education, represented by the Parents' Councils, as part of 'Year of Community' initiatives. The camp, which concluded on Thursday, provided a unique platform to promote national values and strengthen partnerships between institutions and the community in an engaging environment. Designed for both children and their parents, Maqta'a Guardians Camp offered an enriching educational and cultural experience for the participants, said Fatima Al Shehhi, Programmes Officer at Al Maqta'a Museum.There were workshops on police heritage for the parents, while the children learnt more about Abu Dhabi history and heritage through interactive art workshops. Some of the themes revolved around the discovery of Abu Dhabi; the design of old police uniforms; and the role of Al Maqta'a Defence Tower in protecting Abu Dhabi Island. Al Shehhi said, "The programme organisers emphasised that the camp's success reflects the effectiveness of the partnership between government institutions and the local community and embodies the leadership's vision of making the family a key partner in the educational and cultural process."His Excellency Dr. Omar Al Dhaheri, Assistant Undersecretary for School Operations, praised the initiative as a pioneering model of community engagement.He commended the efforts of all organising entities and encouraged them to continue bringing out such events to bolster community engagement and national unity.
The closing ceremony was also attended by Abdulaziz Al Mansoori, Director of Al Maqta'a Museum, Lt. Colonel Ali Al Hammadi, Head of the Police Heritage Section at the Abu Dhabi Police, and several representatives of the Parents' Councils.

Khorfakkan Parents Council honours outstanding students
Under the theme "Harvest of Excellence," the ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, was attended by Dr Abdullah Sulaiman Al Kabouri, Director of SDAD, and Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Murr Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Khorfakkan Municipal Council, along with a number of officials, directors of educational institutions, parents, and families of students. He noted that this achievement would not have been possible without the community solidarity and unlimited support provided by the Sharjah government to students and their educational institutions. Al Naqbi emphasised that the honouring ceremony is not merely an occasion to distribute awards, but rather a national moment to appreciate hard work and diligence, instill the values of determination and ambition in the souls of the youth, and invest in the minds that will bear the burden of the nation's future. Journey of Excellence The ceremony included a moving theatrical performance titled "The Journey of Excellence," performed by students from Al Khalil bin Ahmed School. In a dramatic and expressive style, they portrayed the challenges students face in their academic journey and demonstrated the stages of striving for excellence, a performance that received admiration and applause from the audience. Gratitude and Appreciation In a touching gesture, one of the outstanding students delivered a speech on behalf of his classmates, expressing his gratitude and appreciation to the country's wise leadership, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, his family, his teachers, and everyone who supported him throughout his educational journey. He emphasised that this achievement is just the beginning of a journey of accomplishment and dedication to serving the nation. Students from Atika Bint Zaid School also presented a joyful artistic performance, creating an atmosphere of joy and happiness. Through this, the students expressed their joy for their honoured classmates and their pride in the Emirati national identity and cultural heritage. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the outstanding students were honoured with certificates of appreciation and commemorative shields.
