AP witnesses decline in crime rate by 10.36% in one year
Property crimes like house break-ins, theft, robbery, and dacoity reduced considerably. Violent crimes, including murder, rioting, and attempt to murder, also showed a steady fall. Crimes against women, such as rape and kidnap, peaked around 2021-2022 but declined in the recent years. Economic crimes like cheating and breach of trust came down as well. The sharpest drop was observed in the 'other IPC' category, which contributed the most to the overall decline.
In what appears to be a significant shift in the law and order landscape, Andhra Pradesh recorded a steady decline in major crimes over a six-year period from June 2019 to May 2025, according to official data from the Crime and Criminal Tracking and Network System. The total number of major crimes, which stood at 1,86,386 cases in 2019-2020, dropped sharply to 99,675 cases by 2024-2025, indicating nearly a 47% overall reduction.

The consistent year-on-year dip across various crime heads paints an optimistic picture for the state's policing efforts and public safety mechanisms.
Property-related crimes, which traditionally contributed significantly to the state's crime burden, showed remarkable reductions. House break-ins by day, which numbered 744 cases in 2019-2020, fell to 747 cases in 2024-2025 after hitting a low of 522 cases in 2022-2023.
Night-time house break-ins also decreased from 2,876 cases to 2,792 cases over the same period, despite minor fluctuations. Theft, a persistent concern for both urban and rural communities, showed an overall decline but with intermittent spikes.
From 11,014 theft cases in 2023-2024, the numbers rose to 12,349 cases in 2024-2025, suggesting a need for continued vigilance despite a largely downward trend.
Dacoity and robbery cases also presented a declining trajectory.
Dacoity incidents stood at 39 cases in 2019-2020, and later rose to 62, 68, 45, and 27 in the later years. However, the number again rose to 35 in 2024-2025, while robbery cases dropped from 300 to 238 cases over the six-year span. Crimes involving bodily harm and fatal outcomes also saw a significant reduction. Murder (homicide) cases declined from 800 cases in 2019-2020 to 601 cases in 2024-2025, after it peaked in 2020-2021 (929) and 2021-2022 (923).
Attempt to murder cases, which stood at 1,485 cases in 2019-2020, fell to 933 cases in 2024-2025, reinforcing the downward trend in life-threatening offences.
Rioting cases saw an even steeper drop, from 336 incidents in 2023-2024 to 214 cases in 2024-2025. Grievous hurt and simple hurt cases also trended downward, indicating fewer incidents of severe physical assaults. Simple hurt cases, which once crossed 18,195 cases, decreased to 13,015 cases in the most recent reporting year.
Kidnapping cases rose from 889 in 2019-2020 to a peak of 1,213 in 2021-2022 before dropping steadily to 600 cases in 2024-2025.
Similarly, rape cases increased from 1,232 in 2019-2020 to 1,651 cases in 2021-2022, before decreasing to 1,219 cases in the most recent year.
White-collar crimes, including cheating and criminal breach of trust, also reduced over time. Cheating cases rose from 5,763 cases in 2023-2024 to 5,858 cases in 2024-2025.
Cases of criminal breach of trust did not observe much drop; while it was 1,097 in the past, it is 1,096 in 2024-2025. Interestingly, cases involving counterfeit currency, which were already low, continued to decrease from 48 cases to just 15 cases in six years, though it peaked in 2021-2022 with 71 cases, indicating possibly improved financial scrutiny or a shift in criminal preferences.
The most significant contribution to the overall drop in crime comes from the category labeled 'other IPC' cases.
These cases, which often encompass miscellaneous criminal activities not classified under major heads, fell drastically from 70,605 in 2023-2024 to 58,680 cases in 2024-2025. This alone accounts for a majority of the total decline observed during the reporting period.
DGP Harish Kumar Gupta said several factors contribute to this sharp decline. Enhanced community policing, installation of CCTV networks in urban and semi-urban areas, use of technology in crime detection, and the establishment of command control centres across districts may have played pivotal roles, he added.

'Ghislaine Maxwell didn't hang herself next week': Chilling predictions on social media after she says she will disclose 'Epstein client list'
Ghislaine Maxwell is willing to disclose what she knows about Epstein's client list. After 63-year-old Ghislaine Maxwell expressed her willingness to speak out about Jeffrey Epstein's secrets, his client list, as being the only living person of importance associated with the case, social media users predicted that now it might be her turn to 'commit suicide'. Maxwell has been in prison serving 20 years on child sex trafficking charges. Now, as the government has closed the investigation, DailyMail reported that Maxwell would be happy to sit before Congress and tell her story. The report said that Maxwell was never asked to testify before Congress, though she is the only key person associated with the major scandal, and was convicted in 2022, three years after Epstein committed suicide in his prison cell. Epstein's ghost, however, did not leave the US government as the Donald Trump administration has come under fire for abruptly closing the case, announcing that there was no foul play in Epstein's death and he indeed committed suicide. The DOJ and the FBI also closed any avenue of further leak of any name in the case as they said Epstein did not have any client list. Epstein thus remains a convicted sex offender who used to traffic underage girls with the help of Maxwell, but to unknown people. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Chilling predictions on social media The suicide of Virginia Giuffre, an accuser of the Epstein case who claimed that she was sexually abused by Prince Andrew when she was a minor, made everything about the Epstein case suspicious. In an old post in 2019, Giuffre wrote she was not suicidal. Yet, she committed suicide in 2025. "According to sources speaking to the Daily Mail, Ghislaine Maxwell is willing to reveal everything she knows about Jeffrey Epstein to Congress. Note: Ghislaine Maxwell did NOT commit suicide," one post read. "Ghislaine Maxwell is willing to reveal the full Epstein List in front of Congress. So how long before she tragically gets suicided in her sleep by a bullet to the back of her head?" another wrote. Now that Maxwell wants to speak about the case, she, too, may meet the same fate, chilling conspiracy theorists note on social media. Who is Ghislaine Maxwell? Ghislaine Maxwell is a British socialite and former associate of American financier convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Born in France and raised in the UK, she is the daughter of the late British media mogul Robert Maxwell. After her father's death in 1991 under mysterious circumstances, Maxwell moved to the United States and became part of New York's elite social circles. She became closely connected with Epstein in the 1990s and was often described as his confidante, girlfriend, and later, alleged accomplice. There are speculations that her father worked for Mossad. Maxwell was accused of helping Epstein recruit, groom, and abuse underage girls, with several victims testifying that she played an active role in facilitating the abuse. In July 2020, she was arrested by the FBI and charged with multiple federal crimes, including sex trafficking of minors and perjury. She pleaded not guilty but was convicted in December 2021 on five counts, including sex trafficking of a minor. In June 2022, she was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Naftali Bennett slams Epstein-Mossad claims: Calls accusation ‘total lie', targets Tucker Carlson for anti-Israeli narrative
Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has forcefully rejected claims that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein worked for Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. In a statement posted on X, Bennett called the accusations 'categorically and totally false' and directly targeted prominent figures like Tucker Carlson for spreading conspiracy theories. 'As a former Israeli Prime Minister, with the Mossad having reported directly to me, I say to you with 100% certainty: The accusation that Jeffrey Epstein somehow worked for Israel or the Mossad running a blackmail ring is categorically and totally false,' Bennett wrote. — naftalibennett (@naftalibennett) Bennett's remarks came after Carlson, speaking at a Turning Point USA summit in Florida last week, suggested, without offering evidence, that Epstein might have worked for foreign intelligence services, likely Israeli. Carlson said, 'Now, no one's allowed to say that the foreign government is Israel because we have been somehow cowed into thinking that's naughty. There is nothing wrong with saying that.' In his response, Bennett stressed that Epstein's criminal activities 'had nothing whatsoever to do with the Mossad or the State of Israel.' He accused online personalities like Carlson of inventing such stories and fuelling a 'vicious wave of slander and lies' against Israel. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Lifetime Office 365 Download Undo 'They just make things up, say it with confidence, and these lies stick because it's Israel,' Bennett said. Epstein, who died in 2019 under what US authorities ruled as suicide, remains the subject of widespread conspiracy theories, especially after recent public dissatisfaction with the lack of transparency in investigations surrounding his network. Bennett's statement marks one of the strongest denials from an Israeli leader on the long-running Epstein-Mossad theory.

UAE: Over 3.5 million illegal excise goods found hidden in clothing shipments during major FTA raid in Dubai
The FTA seized millions in untaxed tobacco and vaping products smuggled into Dubai, cleverly hidden among apparel shipments/ Image: (File) TL;DR FTA seized over 3.5 million smuggled excise goods in Dubai. Hidden tobacco and beverage products carried AED 133.2M in tax liability. Advanced tracking tech and joint enforcement boosted the raid's success. In a decisive move to curb tax evasion and protect consumers, a team from the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) seized more than 3.5 million illegal excise goods during a large-scale inspection operation at a facility in Dubai. The raid uncovered a sophisticated scheme involving fraudulently packaged tobacco and beverage products that were deliberately concealed and smuggled into the UAE market, according to a report by the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on Monday. Smuggling Operation Concealed Within Clothing and Footwear Shipments The illegal goods were found hidden within shipments labeled as clothing and footwear, an intentional attempt to bypass tax regulations and smuggle excise products into the country. The FTA described the activity as a clear violation of UAE tax laws, particularly those outlined in Federal Law No. 7 of 2017 on Excise Tax and its subsequent amendments. All seized products have now been permanently confiscated. A detailed tax assessment was carried out, and significant fines have been imposed on the non-compliant entities. Legal proceedings are also underway. Details of the Seized Goods and Financial Impact According to the FTA, the operation uncovered a substantial cache of excise goods, with the total number of seized items exceeding 3.5 by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dementia Has Been Linked To a Common Habit. The breakdown of seized goods is as follows: 1.56 million packs of cigarettes 1.77 million packs of electronic smoking devices and accessories 111,360 packs of raw tobacco 4,000 packs of hookah tobacco 121 packs of nicotine pouches 4,600 packs of excise beverages The total tax liability on these goods was calculated at AED 133.2 million($36.27 million), reflecting the scale of the attempted tax evasion. FTA's Technology-Driven Compliance Strategy The Federal Tax Authority emphasized that this operation forms part of its ongoing, comprehensive monitoring efforts conducted in collaboration with relevant local and federal entities. The Authority continues to adopt advanced electronic control mechanisms, including the use of digital tax stamps on tobacco and tobacco-related products. These stamps are embedded with electronically registered data, allowing FTA inspectors to verify that the correct excise taxes have been paid. This system is aligned with international best practices and is key to the UAE's strategy for enforcing tax compliance. The FTA reiterated that producers, importers, and stockists of excise goods must strictly adhere to the applicable tax regulations to avoid legal penalties, hefty fines, and confiscation of goods. IN the UAE, excise goods, such as cigarettes, shisha tobacco, electronic smoking devices, e-liquids, are strictly regulated under Federal Decree‑Law No. 7 of 2017 and Cabinet Decision No. 52 of 2019, which impose excise tax rates of 50–100 % on these harmful products. Importing, concealing, or supplying them without valid digital tax stamps and proper registration is illegal and subject to heavy penalties The Federal Tax Authority, a government entity established to manage tax affairs in the UAE, plays a critical role in overseeing the implementation, collection, and enforcement of taxes, and prevent illegal activities in the excise goods sector across all seven emirates Its mission includes promoting economic growth while ensuring effective, transparent tax compliance.
