Teen injured after Friday night shooting

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A teen was sent to the hospital after a shooting in Central Peoria late Friday night.
Officers responded to the intersection of West Wilcox Avenue and North Sheridan Road at approximately 11:59 p.m. in response to a ShotSpotter Gunfire Detection System Alert that reported one round was fired, according to Peoria police spokeswoman Semone Roth.
UPDATE: Man hospitalized with injuries after Saturday shooting
Officers did not find a victim on the scene but did locate a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound to the arm near West Hanssler Place and North Ellis Street. The teen was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim told officers that he was approached by two men while walking in the area. One of the men allegedly fired at him before both ran from the scene.
Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspects.
This incident remains under investigation.
