
13-year-old drowns at beach near St. Marys, Ont.
A young teen drowned at the Wildwood Conservation Area, east of St. Marys, Ont., on Sunday.
She has only been identified as a 13-year-old from Hamilton.
The Stratford Police Service and the St. Marys Fire Department were called to the beach, around 7 p.m., for a report of a missing person.
They said the girl was found in the water approximately one hour later.
Despite efforts to revive her, the teen passed away.
Police said the 13-year-old had been visiting the conservation area with her family.
'The Stratford Police Service would like to thank everyone present last evening for assisting with the search and recovery of the victim,' they wrote in a media release. 'We would like to express our condolences to the family, friends and loved ones who have been impacted by this tragedy.'

Calgary man charged with impaired driving causing death almost a year after crash
A Calgary man has been charged after a deadly crash near Airdrie that happened almost a year ago. A 56-year-old man from Edmonton was killed and a 10-year-old boy was injured in the crash last August. It happened just north of Airdrie along Highway 2. RCMP have now charged 26-year-old Muhammad Akmal from Calgary with impaired driving causing death. He's due in court in September.

Missing Cochrane woman and young daughter surface in B.C.; RCMP search continues
Ashley Bartley, 30, and her four-year-old daughter Marlie Myers were reported missing, Cochrane RCMP say. They haven't been seen since July 12, 2025. (Supplied) A missing Cochrane woman and her young daughter have been spotted in Courtenay, B.C., Mounties say. RCMP are asking for help finding 30-year-old Ashley Bartley and four-year-old Marlie Myers, missing since July 12. Investigators say Bartley was seen at an ATM in Courtenay on July 18. It's believed she is travelling with a man, and they are in a 2017 dark-grey Chevrolet Silverado with Alberta licence plate CTK 2944. The truck is pulling a 2006 white Arctic Fox trailer with B.C. plate WPW65H. Bartley is described as 163 centimetres (5'4') tall and 59 kilograms (130 pounds) with long brown hair and brown eyes. Myers is 91 centimetres (3') tall, between 18 to 20 kilograms (40 to 45 pounds) with curly, dirty-blonde hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is asked to call the Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000. Those wishing to remain anonymous can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Pedestrian taken to hospital with minor injuries following collision in Regina

(David Prisciak/CTV News) The Regina Police Service (RPS) responded to the scene of a collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Lewvan Drive and Regina Avenue on Wednesday. The crash occurred in the intersection's northbound lanes, according an advisory from RPS shortly before 5 p.m. The pedestrian was taken to hospital by paramedics with only minor injuries, police say. Northbound traffic was diverted onto Regina Avenue – while travellers westbound on Regina Avenue were being diverted at Pasqua Street. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes. The service said updates will be provided when they are available. As of Wednesday evening, no updates were offered.
