CLEVELAND (WJW) — A fire early Tuesday at a Cleveland Public Power substation left large parts of downtown and the city's near east side without electricity, affecting key public facilities and businesses. More than 3,000 customers were still without power as of Tuesday afternoon, according to an update from Cleveland Public Power. Restoration is expected on Tuesday, but 'the timeline is uncertain,' reads the update. How hot is it going to get? We encourage any of our vulnerable residents, including elderly, and anyone with medical conditions, to seek relief at one of the city's cooling stations or with friends and family until power is restored.' The outage also affected Cleveland Thermal, which heats and cools the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center. Cuyahoga County's Emergency Operations Center is arranging for the delivery of 'critical supplies' like pallets of water, ice and industrial fans, according to the statement.
