Boots shoppers say 'miracle' £10 serum is better than luxury brand worth £65

Daily Record17-06-2025

Beauty fans will need to act fast, as the retailer's flash sale is only available until midnight.
If there's one anti-ageing serum that has earned legendary status, it's Estée Lauder's Advanced Night Repair. However, at £65 for a small 30ml bottle, we're always on the hunt for an alternative.
Fortunately, many beauty buffs have praised the L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renew Midnight Serum as similar to the luxury brand, with some going as far as to say it offers "better" results.
Initially worth just £35 for the same-size 30ml bottle, it's even cheaper after being included in Boots' £10 Tuesday deals today. So until midnight tonight, shoppers can save a staggering £25 off its own RRP, while also being £55 cheaper than Estée Lauder.
However, the high street health and beauty chain's online exclusive deal is only available today, June 17, so skincare buffs only have a few hours before it goes back to full-price.
L'Oréal's Midnight Serum is a powerful antioxidant recovery complex that works to support the skin's natural cell repair cycle, leading to a reduction in wrinkles, while also boosting firmness and radiance.

Product Description
Infused with hyaluronic acid, antioxidants from bitter orange and vitamin E, it claims to boast a "non sticky" and "melting" formula that protects against free radicals during the day, while boasting cell turnover during sleep to reveal younger-looking skin in the morning.
Said to be suitable for all skin tones and types, results indicate that, in just one week, skin appears younger, brighter and more luminous, while a further four weeks highlight a reduction in wrinkles and a more radiant complexion.
Since Boots' £10 deal on the Midnight Serum is only available for one day, another affordable 'dupe' available on the high street is the Revolution Pro Miracle Night Rescue Serum Advanced Complex (30ml) that costs just £12.
Alternatively, the high street firm's own No7 Future Renew Night Serum, which is a new addition, might pose a more suitable alternative, and it only costs £39.95 for a 25ml.
However, the L'Oreal Paris Serum remains a firm favourite with many shoppers, as it has earned a 4.7 rating from Boots shoppers who alone have hailed it as a "miracle in a bottle" that has made their wrinkles "go away."
One five-star review read: "Love this serum, I've been using Estée lauder's night repair but honestly I think this one is better. My skin definitely feels more moisturised and as someone with very dry skin it's a must! Would definitely recommend!"
A second Estee Lauder fan wrote: "Working well for me, [and I usually] use the Estee Lauder which is 3 times the price. Since I switched, I haven't noticed any difference, so it's as good as the expensive brand."
Someone else delighted with the results said: "It's the best serum. I have never used a serum this good, it makes me look younger and it also makes my wrinkles go away. MUST BUY!"
Beauty deal of the week
Looking for last minute gift inspiration for dad ahead of Sunday, June 15.
Then don't fret, as we have you covered, as no-one can go wrong with a new bottle of cologne, and we have spotted Versace's The Dreamer for him Eau de Toilette for 67 percent less at Superdrug.
Hailed for being "underrated" and "truly unique", a large 100ml bottle of this fragrance has been dropped from £74 to £24, allowing you to make a huge saving of £50 and get in a thoughtful gift.
Described as "warm" and "fresh", Versace's Dreamer is an aromatic fragrance that, while belonging to the cologne family, is said to boast a variety of notes that make it suitable for both men and women.
The scent opens on vibrant notes of juniper, tarragon, and artemisia, before blending into heart notes of iris, lily and flax flowers to add a touch of softness. It then ends on a comforting base of tobacco blossom and amber, offering a smoky, luxurious finish.
The transparent, clear fragrance itself is housed in an opulent glass bottle that has been embossed with the iconic medusa logo, representing the luxury aesthetic of the iconic fashion house.
Versace's Dreamer EDT has managed to earn glowing reviews and a 4.6 rating from shoppers, with one saying: "Truly unique and dreamy fragrance. It's a great fragrance but it's underrated. Guys you have to try this one, it's great for all year round."
And someone else wrote: "Not to be overlooked. This is a lesser known Versace men's fragrance but oh my it is gorgeous ! Hubby loved it and amazing value for money."
Versace's The Dreamer For Him Eau de Toilette (100ml) can be bought for 67 percent less at Superdrug now.
Not everyone has been a fan of the texture, as one disappointed customer added: "Unfortunately this wasn't right for me, I applied it a few times but the texture/feel didn't feel right for me and my skin didn't feel/look too different in the morning, also the texture felt a little sticky which I didn't like."
Although, another fan praised: "What a miracle serum! Great product, comforting texture. I'm in my 50s and my skin needs something special.
"After a few nights, my face looks younger, fine wrinkles are smoothed, the texture of the skin is clearly better. I am really delighted with the quality and price."
The L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renew Midnight Serum (30ml) is available in Boots' £10 Tuesday deals exclusively online for one day only.

Boots No7's anti-ageing serum that sold one every seven seconds is under £20 for first time

Skincare enthusiasts have got hours left to take advantage of a deal which sees a popular anti-ageing serum drop to its lowest price yet. The top-selling No7 Future Renew Night Serum is available at half price for a limited period, marking the best offer we've seen on this product since its launch. The No7 Future Renew Night Serum, which was launched in April this year, is still relatively new to the skincare market, making it unusual to see such a significant discount. Normally priced at £39.95, it's currently reduced to just £19.97 - but only for a few days. The serum proved so popular upon release that one was sold every seven seconds on launch day, and it continues to be the number one bestselling night serum at Boots. This limited-time offer provides an excellent chance for newcomers to try the renowned serum, or for devoted users to replenish their skincare essentials. The offer on the serum can be availed both in-store and online at from Friday, June 27 until Tuesday, July 1, conveniently coinciding with payday. Customers can enter the code FRSAVE50 at the checkout to get the offer. In recent weeks, we've seen the serum included in a three-for-two offer with an additional £10 off using the code REVERSE10. However, even with these deals combined, each 25ml serum would average out at £23.30, making the current 50% off deal a better bargain, reports the Mirror. The No7 Future Renew Night Serum has rapidly gained a cult following, not only for its pioneering peptide technology but also for its ability to work with your skin to reverse visible signs of skin damage overnight. The scientifically backed formula utilises chronotechnology to synchronise with your skin's natural night-time repair cycle, combining it with powerful ingredients such as peptides and hyaluronic acid to rejuvenate and repair the complexion. The serum features a world-first super peptide blend, designed to reverse visible signs of skin damage like fine lines, wrinkles, uneven tone and texture, and dry skin. It also contains Lindera Strychnifolia, a plant extract that helps strengthen the skin's internal clock and enhance nighttime repair signals, along with niacinamide, vitamin C and E. Meanwhile, the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex employs similar technology - Chronolux Power Signal Technology - which is designed to enhance the skin's natural repair and renewal processes. For those skincare enthusiasts still searching for an anti-ageing product with a bit more potency, Medik8's Crystal Retinal is an incredibly popular, scientifically supported option. On the Boots website, the No7 serum has earned a 4.3-star rating from customers, with one shopper stating: "I have been using the night serum for over a month together with night cream. I am 80 and can see the difference using it is making, wonderful stuff." Another customer remarked: "Really good. I am 86, but I'm sure there is a difference since using both serums." While the product has received commendations, it has also faced some criticism regarding its price. A consumer expressed: "A very good product but the price for 25ml seems a bit steep. Doesn't last long at all and I've been very sparing. "I'm heading for my mid-70s and I really can see a difference for the better - just wish it wasn't so expensive," another wrote. "My skin feels and looks healthy," read another five-star review. "People have noticed my facial skin and asked me if I have been on holiday. I reply no and then they ask how I have attained such lovely skin." One more user commented: "This is the only product that I used differently in my routine, so I know that this must be the one making the difference. My skin looks healthier and feels smoother, and my fine lines are less noticeable."

The Ordinary's toner is a festival must-have but £3 alternative is just as good

Festival season is upon us, and while your outfit may take priority, your beauty bag is key to getting you through the weekend - here's how to keep your skin flawless As festival season makes a comeback, while outfits may seem like the top priority, your beauty bag is key to getting you through the weekend. But keeping your skin fresh, protected and glowing during a festival is a big ask during long days, heat and limited access to running water. Before you dive into the festival chaos, prepping your skin in the lead-up is key to maintaining a fresh, radiant glow. Dermatologist Dr Alexis Granite says a little exfoliation is a great first step, and recommends The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner - retailing at just £7.70. "A little light exfoliation is a great way to get your skin festival ready," says Dr Granite, founder of Joonbyrd. "AHAs such as glycolic acid and lactic acid are good ingredient options for a radiance boost." According to Skinsort, Boots Ingredients Glycolic Acid Toner is a good match for The Ordinary and can save you £4. These products are both vegan, cruelty-free, and reef safe toners. They both contain AHAs and are both likely to be good for fighting acne, anti aging, dry skin, dark spots and better texture. Dr Granite also says a calming sheet mask the day before the event can also help hydrate and soothe your skin. Using ultra-hydrating products ahead of the weekend – like swapping out your gel cleanser for a cream or balm – will help lock in hydration for the coming days. "Give your skin a thorough cleanse with [an] effective deeply cleansing oil-to-milk cleansing balm," says holistic facialist and Weleda skincare expert, Elizabeth King. "After your first cleanse reapply a second layer and leave on for 10 minutes," she says, as this helps plump and replenish your skin even further. The Weleda Skin Food Nourishing Cleansing Balm is a great option for getting your double cleanse on lock while at a festival. Amidst the excitement of a festival – with limited amenities – sticking to a full skincare regimen is often not feasible. Granite suggests paring back your typical cleansing routine to "cleansing pads and micellar water" for maintaining cleanliness sans running water. She also recommends using oil-free moisturiser and sunscreen to help avoid clogged pores, adding: "Try to avoid touching your face often with your hands. You can also carry pimple patches as needed for when you're in a pinch." For those who prefer their regular cleanser that necessitates water, King advises bringing "a small airtight container of dampened cotton pads pre-prepared with a little boiled water", enabling a thorough cleanse even without tap access. And certainly don't neglect hand sanitiser before applying makeup or skincare. You can score yourself some Garnier Micellar Water Facial Cleanser Sensitive Skin for only £4.49 (formerly £8.99) at Boots. While pre-festival preparation focuses on protection and hydration, post-festival skincare is all about repair and replenishment. Granite stresses the importance of drinking plenty of clear fluids to "amp up your overall hydration levels". The solution to dehydration is a simple fix: electrolytes. These replenish both liquid levels and salts faster than a glass of water. A daily dose of electrolyte blends in the morning is both safe and smart planning, jumping ahead of summer plans in the sun that might leave us lightheaded.
