Drake leaves fans fuming as he reschedules Manchester gig at last minute
Music fans have been left in despair as Drake has announced his hotly anticipated concert in Manchester this coming week has been cancelled. The 38-year-old Canadian rap star had been due to thrill fans at the Co-Op Arena on Monday night.
But on Sunday, news emerged that the concert had to be abruptly cancelled - due to travel disruption. There was good news, however, as fans of Drake were told the gigs would be rescheduled.
The concerts, produced by LiveNation and with Ticketmaster handling ticket sales, would be pushed back to early August, meaning fans had less than a week to change plans to see the star at the recently build music and events venue. However, some fans were still let out as they could not change plans to see the musician on his rescheduled dates.
Drake is on the road with fellow Canadian singer PartyNextDoor - the stage name of Jahron Brathwaite, 32. The boys have been entertaining their fans with their $OME $PECIAL $HOWS 4 U tour.
News of the change to the advertised plans was released on Sunday. Fans turning to the official Co-Op Arena website were met with a notice detailing the rescheduled concert.
A notice warned: "Due to unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics, tomorrow's performance in Manchester on July 28th has been rescheduled."
However, it continued: "The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, August 5th, and it's set to be an unforgettable night. All tickets remain valid for the new date—we can't wait to see you there!"
Further details about the headliner and his concert explained: "Five-time Grammy-award winning and multi-platinum global artist Drake announced his highly anticipated return to Europe and the UK with his $ome $pecial $hows 4 UK EU run kicking off this July.
"The run will feature PARTYNEXTDOOR on all dates. Produced by Live Nation. The tour marks Drake's first return to Europe and the UK in six years, following his 2019 Assassination Vacation Tour."
The change in dates has left some fans disappointed, however. One responded to the news sadly on Instagram, writing: "I'm so sad came way from New York to see the boy."
Many others have taken to social media to try and sell their rescheduled tickets as they are no longer able to attend the gig following the switch up of dates. And Drake has also risked turning some fans against him due to the scheduling shambles.
One bitterly hit out on X, writing: "so far drake cancelled/rescheduled 3 shows: manchester, belgium and zurich. who the f**k plans his tour dates and why is it that everytime he goes to europe he either cancels the dates or reschedules!!! people travel from other countries to his concerts!!! this is absurd!"
Drake and PartyNextDoor have already played two dates in Manchester and a number of shows in London ahead of the rescheduled dates. They head to Amsterdam next before retuning to Manchester the following week.
The duo will remain on the road until late September, playing to crowds in Germany, France, Italy, Sweden and more.

A key information sheet was sent out to fans heading to Murrayfield. It features plenty of rules about who can get into the show and what they need to bring with them and what they cannot have on them. The gates open at 5pm and the concert's curfew is 10.30pm. And it is vital fans make sure they follow the latest advice or they won't be getting into the concerts. Gig-goers have been reminded to bring valid ID in case they need to prove they are old enough to get in. They are only able to get in with an approved list of ID - like driving licences of passports. No one will be allowed in with an out of date ID and anyone trying to use a fake ID will not be allowed in. Getting to the gig Fans have also been warned they cannot park their car at Murrayfield but can also get trains to Edinburgh and use Edinburgh Trams and Lothian Buses to get to the stadium. There are also several Park and Rides in the city. Fans were told: "There is no public parking available at the stadium and there will be road closures in the surrounding area. "There will be a designated Official Park & Ride at the Royal Highland Centre and tickets for the parking can be purchased on the Scottish Rugby ticketing website (ticket does not include the cost of the bus ticket, which can be purchased in advance via the Lothian bus website or via contactless payment when you board). "There are several other Park & Rides operating in and around Edinburgh." What is banned from Oasis at Murrayfield Fans are ALLOWED to bring bags under the size of a sheet of A4 paper, an unopened plastic bottle of water (max. 500ml), bank card/contactless payment (Murrayfield is a fully cashless site), small cameras, ear plugs, small hand sanitiser, hats, lip balm, make up, sunscreen, sunglasses, and more. "They are there to support customers and staff with any needs from physical to emotional and have a wealth of experience working at events throughout the UK. Creepy Boys: Slugs review – howling existential rave through modern life's mayhem
If the end of the world is a party, I want these two feral slugs to be our hosts. Fever-dreamed by Canadian clowning duo Creepy Boys, this absurd existential rave is brilliantly smart and beautifully stupid. Wriggling on to the stage in sleeping bags with puffy vulval gaps for their faces and arms, Sam Kruger and SE Grummett insist, with increasing desperation, that this is a show about nothing. No serious topic will be tackled here. Not gun violence, not climate change, not gender identity. Creepy Boys want to take those heavy, stressful 'somethings' and stomp on them while we dance to techno and watch a soothing puppet show instead. When the eggshell-ridden world outside is so hard to navigate, don't we deserve some smooth-brained blankness? Like slugs: the ultimate nothing. But sticking to this nothingness proves difficult. Whenever the pair stray into a topic that threatens to be 'a something' they retreat, flailing into a cesspit of panic that they've ruined the show. Stripped down to bright, tight plastic bibs and free-wheeling genitals, they frantically cover their close-calls with sweaty, delirious misdirections of our attention: Joni Mitchell puppetry; live animations; a two-headed horse. As it becomes harder to stay in the safe zone, every word, body part and casually shoved-in-your-face gun becomes riddled with unavoidably political connotations. The pair admit their work is 'a little bit niche and mostly gross' but this howl of a show uses an anarchic, DIY aesthetic to cloak innovative design and complex Derridian concepts. What begins as an effort to distract from the doom-scroll mentality devolves into a critical analysis of the absurdities we accept as the norm. Newcastle City Hall revamp plans approved by council
Newcastle City Hall is to be revamped to help the venue "regain its former glory".Plans to refurbish the Grade II listed building, which include a new balcony-level bar, were given the green light by the Academy Music Group and Live Nation said the work was needed to put the venue "firmly back on the touring acts' schedule", with planning documents warning it had "not moved with the times" and was being overlooked by major new bar will be built in a disused section of the adjoining City Baths building, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service. The venue opened in 1927 and has hosted acts including The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. 'Here to stay' Newcastle City Baths, which is also Grade II listed, reopened in 2021 after being closed for eight years as part council cost-cutting measures."Utilising an area of the baths, which was falling into disrepair, and taking away the financial burden that has on the baths will help the future of the swimming baths as a going concern," the planning application said. "It will help both City Hall and the baths, in equal measure, in providing a first-class service to its customers and ensuring these important city assets are here to stay."Existing doors, partition walls, historic panelling and masonry, and a spiral staircase will be removed as part of the Labour-led council said the redesign would "undoubtedly cause a degree of harm to the existing character and appearance" of the planners approved proposals and said connecting the disused section of the baths into the City Hall would "bring the building closer to being used in its entirety, ensuring a future for the asset".
