Jojo Siwa Breaks Silence On Miley Cyrus' Controversial Joke About Her At World Pride

Yahoo12-06-2025
Jojo Siwa has responded to a controversial joke Miley Cyrus made about her new relationship as part of a Pride event.
In the last few months, Jojo has been at the centre of several headlines about her personal life, following the news that she'd broken up with her long-term partner Kath Ebbs hours after leaving Celebrity Big Brother, and later began dating fellow housemate Chris Hughes.
As part of a World Pride event earlier this month, Miley appeared in a pre-recorded video, appearing in a closet, which she quipped she'd not been in 'since the sixth grade'.
She then added: 'Alright, I'm going back in to get some more pretzels and find Jojo Siwa and bring her back out.'

Miley wound up facing a backlash and accusations of bi-erasure about the joke, which Jojo – who shared in the CBB house that she prefers the term 'queer' to describe herself, having previously identified as 'lesbian' – has now addressed.
On Thursday morning, the Karma singer posted a picture of herself on Instagram at the age of five, celebrating her birthday with a Miley-themed party.
'I was happy at my fifth birthday having a Miley-themed party, and I'm still happy now at 22,' she wrote. 'If you know me, you know that Miley is my day one, [I] grew up beyond inspired by her from two years old on.'
Jojo continued: 'I wasn't sure how I felt about things for a couple of days… but I've started to come to some thoughts.
'I don't believe what Miley said at World Pride was ill intended, honestly I think it was meant to be a joke, but just not very good one. Not what the world, or myself needs to hear any day of the week.'
She added that she'd 'messaged Miley light-heartedly about it', claiming that the former Disney star 'replied and said 'All love. Always'.'

HuffPost UK has contacted Miley Cyrus' team for comment.
Interestingly, back in 2019, Miley defended her own queer identity in light of the fact she was then married to a man.
'I think it's very confusing to people that I'm married. But my relationship is unique,' she told Elle of her relationship with Liam Hemsworth at the time. 'I don't know that I would ever publicly allow people in there because it's so complex, and modern, and new that I don't think we're in a place where people would get it.'
She added: 'I mean, do people really think that I'm at home in a fucking apron cooking dinner? I'm in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women.
'People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still fucking good, and I know that. I made a partner decision. This is the person I feel has my back the most. I definitely don't fit into a stereotypical wife role. I don't even like that word.'

Fans Grossed Out By Tennis Star Iga Swiatek's Favorite Meal

Fans Grossed Out By Tennis Star Iga Swiatek's Favorite Meal originally appeared on The Spun. Iga Swiatek may have revealed her secret to being one of the best tennis players in the world. On Saturday night, Swiatek defeated Danielle Collins to punch her ticket to the fourth round at Wimbledon. Although grass is considered her worst surface, she has looked really sharp over the past three matches. Her outlook for the rest of the tournament is really positive considering she's the only major champion left in her half of the draw. Advertisement Following her third-round match, Swiatek was asked if she knows what she's going to eat to celebrate her victory over Collins. Let's just say her response was very interesting. "I don't know yet," Swiatek said. "I have my favorite. It's pasta with strawberries. I ate it as a kid. You guys should try it. It's just great." A few hours later, Swiatek shared a photo of her enjoying a bowl of pasta and strawberries on Instagram. Unsurprisingly, fans were a bit grossed out by Swiatek's post-match meal. "She actually can't be serious," one fan replied. "I will support every Iga's right and wrong, but strawberry on pasta.. girl," a second fan wrote on X. Advertisement "That should be illegal," another fan said. "That's disgusting," a social media user commented. Clearly, Swiatek's favorite meal doesn't hurt her performance on the court. Next up for Swiatek is a showdown with Clara Tauson, who is coming off a straight-sets win over former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina. Swiatek is hoping to make it back to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon for just the second time in her career. Pixar fires back at fans, critics on social media after ‘Elio' flops

Pixar is clearly frustrated by the dismal box office performance of its latest feature ' Elio,' and is starting to hit back at its critics on social media. The Emeryville-based animation studio, owned by Disney, recently posted a video to Instagram that follows a new internet trend where people share hard truths off-screen and then pretend they don't know where the source of the statement is. In this case, an unidentified woman sitting in a car is looking off screen when she says, 'Stop complaining that Disney doesn't make original stories if you don't show up to movie theaters and support them in the first place.' After a sound effect 'alerts' the woman that she is being filmed, she looks at the camera and says, 'Oh, my gosh, I thought I was the only one in my car!' She then holds up a poster for ' Elio ' and says, 'Anyways, there's a new original story from Disney Pixar ... called 'Elio,' you should go and support it.' 'Elio' opened in theaters on June 20, and so far is the worst performing Pixar movie in its history despite strong reviews, including by the Chronicle. As of Monday, June 30, the film holds an 83% approval rating by critics and 91% from audiences on review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes. But that hasn't translated to ticket sales. After two weekends in theaters, the $150 million film about a lonely boy who becomes a galactic ambassador for Earth has grossed about $42 million domestically and $72 million globally. At issue is criticism leveled at the animation giant that it makes too many sequels and not enough movies based on new stories. Last year's ' Inside Out 2 ' took in $1.7 billion at the global box office and briefly became the highest-grossing animated film of all time. Next year's slate includes ' Toy Story 5,' with ' Incredibles 3 ' also in the works. But original films have struggled since ' Onward ' was released in theaters in 2020 on the cusp of the pandemic. ' Soul ' (late 2020), ' Luca ' (2021) and ' Turning Red ' (2022) all went straight to streaming on Disney+, while ' Lightyear ' (2022), an offshoot of the 'Toy Story' series, underperformed in theaters. ' Elemental ' (2023), an original film, also had a weak box office opening but hung around in theaters and eventually became a sleeper hit. With this new social media post, Pixar is hoping that 'Elio' can do the same.

In her caption, Gilbert added, "Sunday truth," with playful hashtags like "#wordstoliveby, "sexymfka," and more. In the comments, the When Calls the Heart actress' followers responded to her swear-y post with similar energy. One fan declared, "So f**king true! ( pardon my French ) 😉." A different IG user shared, "I must be a genius! 😂." Another jokingly scolded Gilbert using her Little House nickname, writing, "Half Pint! What's with the potty mouth!! 😂😂😂 Jk. More please." Someone else echoed, "I love the fact that this was posted by Half Pint 😂." Recently, Gilbert sent a bold (but not curse-word-laden) message in response to the Little House on the Prairie rebootcasting its new Laura Ingalls Wilder.
