Model shuts down huge dating misconception

News.com.au30-04-2025
A former professional golfer turned social media personality and model has finally opened up about her love life after being plagued by rumours for years.
Paige Spiranac, 32, who attended San Diego State University before going pro in golf in 2015, was married to Steven Tinoco, an athletic trainer. However, she revealed the pair parted ways in 2022.
Since her divorce, the American model has been the subject of rumours and headlines concerning her dating life — particularly men she has created YouTube content with.
Rumours have swirled about herself and other professional athletes, including NFL star Tom Brady and LIV Golf player Bryson DeChambeau.
However, Spiranac shut down all allegations that she had ever dated someone in the spotlight during her show The SPINvitational, saying it was a 'big misconception'.
The 'original Insta golf girl', who boasts four million followers on Instagram alone, said: 'Never been on a date with anyone famous. I've had pro athletes or famous people slide in my DMs. I've never dated anyone famous.
'It's funny because I'll see all these headlines. There was one where I shot content with Bryson DeChambeau and then the next headline was I was dating Bryson DeChambeau. Tom Brady was one of them, which was so crazy.'
Spiranac added: 'It's like any time I shoot content with a male celebrity, that's the headline or all of the comments, which can be really difficult for my job when I work in a male-dominated industry and I'm just around male golfers, and a lot of male celebrities love professional golf, and people in business.'
She said she would be photographed with people at events, and then the next headline would link the duo together romantically.
'It's really frustrating because I've never dated anyone famous ever, not even close,' she said.
Spiranac, who is known for sharing snaps of her golf outfits to social media, is no stranger to having to shut down rumours about her personal life. She's previously had to torpedo reports that she 'did sexual favours' to get an invitation to the Dubai Ladies Masters.
She said this was because many thought the opportunity was above her level of skill.
Appearing on the Quiet Please! podcast, the former golf pro said it was at the outset of her career and she had just started going viral on social media — something that 'flipped' her life 'upside down'.
'I got this invite to play an LET [Ladies European Tournament]. I had just turned pro, I had never played golf outside the country. And everyone was like, 'It's low key, don't worry about it. No one is going to know if you play well or not',' she said.
'I show up and was doing hours of press, which I wasn't prepared for. I had no training to do this. And I would say there were a couple of girls who were really supportive and who were nice, but the majority, it was brutal. I would go on the range and girls would just scatter. No one wanted to hit next to me.
'There were constant comments like 'I did sexual favours to get this invite,' and I was listening to it — and they would say [it] within earshots of me. It was tough. Not knowing what I was doing, it was my first pro event, it was really difficult. I just wanted to be liked and I played so bad. It was horrendous.'

Super Bowl winner dies at 38 from ‘very rare' cancer

Super Bowl-winning linebacker Bryan Braman, who played for two teams across seven seasons in the NFL, has died aged 38 after a battle with a 'very rare form of cancer,' his agent confirmed to CNN Sports on Thursday. 'Bryan Braman was a warrior in every sense — on the field and in life — facing every battle with unshakeable grit and heart,' Sean Stellato said. 'His passing leaves a void not just in football, but in the spirit of every underdog who ever dared to fight.' According to a GoFundMe page which was organised to help fund his treatment and medical necessities, Braman had been diagnosed with cancer in February. In the latest update on the page from June, it said that Braman had undergone multiple 'surgical procedures' at a facility in Seattle but had been unable to fully recover due to his lowered immunity. The latest post added that Braman had returned home after undergoing Car T cell reprogramming treatment. According to the National Cancer Institute, Car T cell therapy involves genetically engineering a patient's own T cells — part of the body's immune system — to attack cancer cells. Although there were signs of optimism as the 'mass did start to shrink,' the cancer 'started fighting back.' As a result, Braman underwent chemo treatments, but the cancer grew 'exponentially faster' around his vital organs. At the time of writing, the GoFundMe had raised almost $90,000. Braman's former Houston Texans teammate, JJ Watt, donated $10,000 to the cause. Watt later paid tribute to Braman on social media, writing: 'Rest in Peace brother. Gone far too soon.' Stellato posted a framed, signed jersey from Braman on his Instagram story with the caption: 'My heart hurts. I love you Bryan.' Braman began his college career at Idaho before moving to Long Beach City College and finishing at West Texas A&M. Having gone undrafted, he signed with the Texans in 2011 as an undrafted free agent. Braman became a fixture of Houston's special teams unit. He became a fan favourite after making a tackle with no helmet on during a game against the Tennessee Titans in 2011. In 2012, he was named a Pro Bowl special teams alternate. Braman spent three years in Houston before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. He spent four seasons — including a brief spell on the New Orleans Saints practice team — with the Eagles. In his final NFL season, he was part of the Eagles team which won Super Bowl LII, beating the New England Patriots.

Peake feels like Santa at the Open - but gets best gift

Wide-eyed Open debutant Ryan Peake has been given a special gift by his illustrious playing partner Phil Mickelson - but it was the big Aussie who ended up feeling like a deflated Father Christmas on the unforgiving Royal Portrush links. The 31-year-old, whose remarkable redemption story from jailed biker gang member to golfing champion has been the talk of the Open this week, felt unashamedly wide-eyed and a mite nervous as he teed off with one of his heroes, six-time major champ Mickelson, on Thursday morning. But he made sure he would get a special memento of his big day as he got the 55-year-old fellow 'Lefty' to sign a golf glove and give him his ball after a round when they enjoyed rather different fortunes. Peake watched awe-struck as the 2013 champion Mickelson rekindled some of his old magic, not least when the American failed to extricate himself from a greenside bunker at his first attempt on the third hole only to hole his second effort in wizardly fashion. Yet while Mickelson finished on one under, Peake never got going, ending up with a six-over 77 that's going to make it a real struggle to make the cut. "I felt like I did a couple things all right and kind of didn't get rewarded for them," sighed Peake, who'd earned his spot through his fairytale win at the New Zealand Open in March when the amazing tale surfaced of how rediscovering golf gave the former bikie a shot at a new life after serving jail time for assault. "But I was like Father Christmas out there - I was just handing out presents to the golf course. I just kept throwing shots away, and it was just very frustrating. "Obviously, I've still got tomorrow to try and do something to make this cut, but the whole experience, that's something that I'll look on further down the track. I'm here to compete, but I just got beat up out there." It was, though, an experience he'll never forget. Even just meeting Mickelson was a thrill. "He just introduced himself at the first tee. I don't think he needs to introduce himself, I was well aware of who he was! "But obviously I was nervous - not because I was playing next to Phil - it's just, I guess, your first major and things like that. I've just got to get better at (handling) that." Did 'Lefty' offer him any help? "No, I would have known I was in a bad place if he'd come over and started offering me help!" smiled Peake. "But no, we chatted. He's very friendly. I grabbed his putter off him a few times and had a little feel of it. There was a couple of cool things. "His caddie was giving away golf balls as we walked off the first tee, and I yelled out, 'what about me?', and he had a laugh, thought I was being sarcastic, and said, 'are you serious?' -- and I said, 'I'm deadly serious!'. "I said, 'can you sign a glove as well?'. My own boy is out here this week and he loves Phil as well. I'm not going to ask him on the first tee, but I'll ask him after the round." Mickelson obliged and the pair will enjoy round two together on Friday. "I'm definitely not counting myself out of it. But yeah, at the moment just pretty flat," said Peake.

Sarah Michelle Gellar addresses Jennifer Love Hewitt feud rumours

Sarah Michelle Gellar has addressed rumours of a feud with Jennifer Love Hewitt after online gossip suggested they had fallen out. The actresses worked together on 1997 slasher movie I Know What You Did Last Summer and they both attended the premiere of the new reboot in Los Angeles on Monday (14.07.25). Jennifer appears in the film with Sarah's husband Freddie Prinze Jr., but the two actresses were not pictured together at all during the event - leading to rumours of a falling out. However, Sarah is adamant she just didn't get the chance to hang out with Jennifer because the premiere was so busy. In a post on Instagram, Sarah wrote: "For everyone asking - I never got to see @jenniferlovehewitt, who is fantastic in the movie. "I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened. And unfortunately JLH didn't come to the after party. "If you have ever been to one of these it's crazy. I sadly didn't get pics with most of the cast. But that doesn't change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately some things happen only in real life and not online." Sarah previously shared pictures from the event on the social media platform and wrote: "What a night!!! Still can't believe ... years later (no need to date myself) I got to walk the red carpet at another premiere of @ikwydlsmovie. "Still starring the most handsome man I know @realfreddieprinze but this time directed by my best friend @jennkaytin and written by Jenn and @samlansky. I love this movie sooooo much and this cast!!" Sarah met Freddie on the set of the original I Know What You Did Last Summer and they went on to marry in 2002. Jennifer previously dismissed rumours of a feud between the two actresses last year - insisting she never demanded movie bosses have Sarah's beauty queen character killed off in the first movie. During an appearance on the I've Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario podcast, Jennifer explained: "I was 18. They were not taking script notes from me. "All of us were in that experience together, you know, figuring it all out and everything. And I root for her and Freddie. "I think it's the cutest thing in the world that they've been married for 100 years and have kids. It's, like, adorable. So it's just been really funny to see all of this stuff."
