Ben Seghir Pushes for Monaco Exit Amid European Interest
Once tipped as the next jewel in the principality's crown, Ben Seghir has struggled for consistency this term. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is reportedly disillusioned with his current role under Adi Hütter.
Nine goals and four assists in 45 appearances across all competitions tell a story of flickering promise, but recent months have seen his form tail off. Ben Seghir hasn't scored in Ligue 1 since February and has played only 160 minutes in seven matches.
His frustrations have not gone unnoticed. The likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Bayer Leverkusen are said to be monitoring his situation closely. Closer to home, Marseille have expressed concrete interest, while Barcelona – the player's childhood dream club – are reportedly keeping tabs.
Meanwhile, Monaco are bracing for a turbulent summer. A raft of first-team regulars are expected to leave, and Ben Seghir could well be part of that exodus. His current market value stands at €30m, though his patchy form may complicate any blockbuster move.
Ben Seghir was recently ranked eighth in the 2025 Golden Boy standings. He also clinched Olympic bronze with Morocco last summer and has bagged three goals in eight caps for the senior side.
The Moroccan now stands at a crossroads: dig in and fight for his place, or seek greener pastures to reignite his form. Tags: eliesse ben seghirligue 1MonacoMorocco

Morocco to Invest $8 Billion for 85% 5G Coverage by 2030
Marrakech – The Moroccan government has announced plans to invest MAD 80 billion ($8 billion) to deploy 5G technology across the country, with the goal of covering 85% of the population by 2030. The announcement came during the board meeting of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT), held Friday in Rabat under the chairmanship of Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch. The ambitious project will begin implementation by the end of 2025, with several major cities receiving 5G coverage in the initial phase. This initiative forms part of the broader 'Morocco Digital 2030' strategy, which aims to accelerate the country's digital transformation. During the meeting, ANRT Director General Azzelarab Hassibi presented the current state of telecommunications in Morocco. He noted that mobile phone services now reach 57 million subscribers, while internet users number approximately 40 million, representing a 90% penetration rate – significantly higher than the African continental average of 37%. These advancements have positioned Morocco as the leading African country in the 2025 International Telecommunication Union (ITU) rankings according to the Information and Communication Technology Development Index (IDI). The board meeting also addressed territorial disparities in telecommunications coverage. Akhannouch stressed the importance of ensuring network coverage throughout the entire country, particularly in mountainous regions. He instructed the ANRT to identify areas with limited or no coverage and to coordinate with relevant government departments and the private sector to provide citizens with reliable, high-quality telecommunications services. As part of this effort, the board approved a national survey to identify remote localities suffering from weak or non-existent telecommunications coverage. These areas will be progressively integrated into a targeted deployment program. Additionally, the ANRT announced an update to the National Frequency Plan to adapt to technological developments and support the country's socio-economic needs. The agency will continue implementing structural projects to extend high-speed internet access and fiber optic networks alongside the gradual introduction of 5G technology. This telecommunications expansion comes as the North African country prepares to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) later this year and co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. These events demand strong digital infrastructure to enable global media access and enrich visitor experience, as Morocco works to close the digital gap and improve development indicators. Fleet Expansion Plan: Royal Air Maroc Receives 2 New Boeing 737 MAX 8
Rabat – Royal Air Maroc (RAM) received two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on Thursday as part of the carrier's fleet expansion plan. In a report today, Moroccan news outlet Le360 quoted Royal Air Maroc's head of the Prospective, Strategy and Fleet Department, as emphasizing the importance of the new fleet batch for the company. 'This is a big day for us,' Fadwa Mahamma said, adding that the two aircraft mark a 'significant acceleration in the expansion of our fleet, fully aligned with our company's ambitions supported by the State.' She revealed that Royal Air Maroc has been receiving 'nearly one aircraft every two weeks, meaning that by the end of the year, around ten aircraft will join our fleet.' Mehdi El Yaalaoui, RAM's Director of Strategy and Innovation, echoed Mahamma's remarks, noting that these planes will allow the company to renew its fleet and to improve the onboard experience for its customers. El Yaaloui said the fleet will also reduce its carbon footprint by 15%, citing next-generation engines. 'Each new delivery symbolizes our collective commitment to achieving the goals of our development plan and to being ready for major events like the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, two key moments for our country and continent,' he added. In June, RAM's CEO Hamid Addou expressed frustration over Boeing's delays in submitting ordered aircraft. 'You have to offer your customers what they're paying for. And in the economy… You have to offer the kind of service they're expecting. So we need to invest in the product, and we are already doing it,' Addou told CNN. 'One feels frustrated when you have 15 to 18 months of late deliveries,' Addou said, but acknowledged that all executives and airlines face the same and that promises have been made and steps have been taken for things to evolve in the 'right direction.'
