Why Is Eliesse Ben Seghir Wearing a Mask?
AS Monaco's Eliesse Ben Seghir has drawn attention during pre-season matches for wearing a protective mask on his face. The 20-year-old Moroccan recently underwent minor nasal surgery to fix a long-standing deviated septum, according to L'Équipe . While the issue wasn't career-threatening, it had been affecting his breathing and match stamina for some time. 🎭🇲🇦 On connaît la raison du port du masque d'Eliesse Ben Seghir ! Il traînait un soucis au nez depuis un moment; il a alors procédé à une petite opération, rien de grave. 🗞️ @Abdel_hamed6 — Lig'ASM 🇲🇨 (@LigASM_) July 15, 2025 The operation took place during the off-season, and Ben Seghir is now wearing a custom protective mask to shield the healing area from impact during games. Unlike Napoli's Victor Osimhen, who wears his mask permanently, Ben Seghir's is only temporary. Though the mask may slightly affect peripheral vision or certain technical movements, the midfielder has proven he can adapt. He missed just four matches last season, featuring in 49 games, scoring nine goals and providing four assists. Tags: eliesse ben seghirligue 1Monaco

Monaco CEO clarifies Eliesse Ben Seghir transfer stance
Eliesse Ben Seghir (20) is not one of the major candidates for a departure from AS Monaco this summer, however, the Morocco international has been linked with a move away. L'Équipe reported towards the end of the last Ligue 1 campaign that the forward felt frustrated towards the end of the season as he began to play a more bit-part role, often off the bench. He did, nonetheless, make 46 appearances in all competitions and played at least some part in 33 of Monaco's 34 matches in Ligue 1. Advertisement Perhaps it was in response to this frustration that Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro defended Adi Hütter's usage of the player. 'At the end of last season, he had a vision that doesn't reflect the reality. He played more than 2,000 minutes, which is a lot. He scored lots of goals and made lots of assists. It is our job too to show that the plan is going on. A football career is a process, not an act,' he said in a press conference attended by Get French Football News. 'I think Ben Seghir's prime is to come' – Scuro Scuro then set out the Principality club's stance on a sale this summer. 'He is a special talent, a special player. We have the intention to keep developing him here. I think his prime is to come. It is our intention that he stays,' said the Brazilian. Ben Seghir had been attracting interest from Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Bayer Leverkusen, all of whom made enquiries. GFFN | Luke Entwistle – reporting from Monaco

Juventus interested in Tottenham's Mikey Moore
Kenan Yildiz is probably Juventus' best player at the moment and that was in full display with him scoring a brace against Al-Ain in the club's 5-0 win in their inaugural Club World Cup match. However this also means that he has interest from other big clubs. Juventus though want to tie him down and be a leading player in the present as well as long term. Meanwhile, the club are looking at young attackers who could grow alongside Yildiz and become protagonists themselves. Mikey Moore of Tottenham Hotspur is a name that has been touted as an option as per Gazzetta dello Sport. He is widely considered as one of the best English talents around. Advertisement Although he's 17, many believe that he should have already featured a lot more for Tottenham than he already has. If this issue continues persisting under new manager Thomas Frank, then a move cannot be ruled out for the player who has a contract till 2027. Also on the list is Monaco's Eliesse Ben Seghir. The Moroccan made a great impression in what was his first real season in senior football and has a lot of clubs monitoring him. He is 20 and it is believed that he can be signed for a fee of around €30m. Kaulik Mitra | GIFN

Ben Seghir on Napoli's Radar as Monaco Plot Summer Shake-Up
Napoli are lining up a summer swoop for Morocco international Eliesse Ben Seghir, as AS Monaco brace themselves for a busy transfer window. The 20-year-old forward, one of the most promising products of the Principality's academy, is attracting serious attention across Europe. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli's sporting director Giovanni Manna is a huge admirer and sees Ben Seghir as a perfect fit for Antonio Conte's frontline. But there's a catch. Monaco reportedly want around €40–50 million for the player, and Napoli are weighing up their options. The Italian champions have a hefty €200 million transfer budget but are prioritising other names, including Kevin De Bruyne and PSV winger Noa Lang who Marseille is also monitoring. Lang would come at a lower cost, around €25 million. Ben Seghir's numbers are solid. He scored nine and assisted four in 46 appearances this season, despite losing his starting place midway through the campaign. His flair, quick feet and ability to operate in tight spaces make him a tantalising option for clubs who want intelligent attacking movement. City, Liverpool, Bayern and Leverkusen are all keeping tabs. Monaco, meanwhile, are reshuffling. Eric Dier is in. Ansu Fati is expected on loan. A left-back is being chased, with Sergio Reguilon named as a target. A new goalkeeper is also on the list, but it won't be David De Gea, who extended his stay with Fiorentina. Outgoings are expected too. Maghnes Akliouche is being courted, and Paul Pogba, currently without a club, has been offered to Monaco. The club's sporting chief Thiago Scuro insists he wants Ben Seghir to stay, at least another season, but the player's camp remains open. Tensions with manager Adi Hütter haven't helped either. The Austrian benched Ben Seghir for long spells, and their relationship is reportedly strained. Ben Seghir, who is currently in camp with the Moroccan national team to gear up for the next friendly game against Benin next Monday, has been named in the Golden Boy shortlist, alongside fellow Moroccan budding talents Chemsdine Talbi and Ayyoub Bouaddi. Morocco Edges Tunisia 2-0 in Friendly Game
Rabat – Morocco secured a solid 2-0 victory over Tunisia on Friday night in a friendly game at the Fez Grand Stadium. The first goal came from Achraf Hakimi, who finally broke the deadlock in the 80th minute. The Paris Saint-Germain defender tapped the ball in from close range after a well-placed cross by Eliesse Ben Seghir following a corner. The goal was long-awaited as Morocco struggled to break down Tunisia's defense. Hakimi, in excellent form after leading PSG to their first-ever Champions League title just last week, once again proved decisive and showed sharp movement and confidence throughout the match. Just when it seemed the match would end 1-0, substitute Ayoub El Kaabi added a second goal during added time, sealing the win and sending Moroccan fans into celebration. It was a tightly contested game with both teams creating chances but struggling to find the back of the net. Morocco dominated much of the second half, with substitutes bringing energy to the attack, especially in the final minutes, as they pushed forward and tested Tunisia's defense. Yassine Bounou made key saves to keep Morocco in the lead, especially denying a dangerous header from Hazem Mastouri in the 74th minute. Both teams used the match to rotate their squads and try different tactical setups. The international friendly is part of both teams' preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The win boosts confidence for the Atlas Lions as they finalize their preparations, where they will be considered one of the tournament favorites. Tunisia, on the other hand, will need to work on finishing and maintaining focus in key moments. The next few weeks will be crucial for both sides as they fine-tune their squads before heading to the continental tournament. Tags: Footballfriendly matchmorocco tunisiasports
