Brazilian striker Gabriel Barbosa cleared by CAS in doping rules case
Known as Gabigol, he allegedly evaded a doping control in April 2023 while playing for Flamengo. He denied any wrongdoing. Brazil's anti-doping tribunal imposed the suspension but CAS allowed Barbosa to continue playing while he appealed.

CAS, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, cleared Barbosa by unanimous decision.
'Two of the toughest years of my life, being unfairly accused for something I never did,' Barbosa said in a statement. 'No prohibited substance was found, but they still wanted to punish me for an alleged attitude. Justice was done. But the wound stays.'
The 28-year-old Barbosa played in the Brazil team that won the 2016 Olympics gold medal in Rio de Janeiro. At age 19, he joined Inter Milan but returned to Brazil in 2019 and helped Rio-based Flamengo win two Copa Libertadores.
In January he signed with Cruzeiro.

Davide initially worked as a fitness coach at PSG and Real Madrid before he was appointed as Bayern Munich's assistant coach in 2016. He joined Carlo with subsequent roles at Napoli, Everton, and a return to Madrid. Earlier this summer, there had been managerial interest in Davide Ancelotti from clubs, including Scottish side Rangers and Deportivo La Coruna, currently in Spain's second division. The Athletic reported in May 2024 that Ligue 1 side Reims had identified Davide as a leading candidate in their search for a new head coach, while he had previously received a lucrative offer from a Saudi Arabian club, after earning his UEFA A coaching license in 2016. Carlo Ancelotti left Madrid at the end of the 2024-25 season after returning to the club for a four-year spell. He became the first foreign head coach to be appointed by Brazil, and replaced Dorival Junior in the position, following his sacking in March. Botafogo are currently eighth in Serie A, six points from league leaders Flamengo. The Copa Libertadores holders will play LDU Quito of Ecuador in the last-16 stage of this season's competition next month. ()

Youthful Chelsea ready for Thiago Silva reunion at Club World Cup
Former Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is still going strong at the age of 40 and will lead out Fluminense against the Blues in Tuesday's Club World Cup semi-final (Paul ELLIS) Chelsea's young side are targeting a place in the final of the Club World Cup when they take on Fluminense in the last four on Tuesday, with the Brazilian team marshalled by former Blues defender Thiago Silva who is still going strong at the age of 40. Silva was already a veteran when he signed for Chelsea in 2020 before going on to have an impressive four-year stint at Stamford Bridge. Advertisement One of the finest centre-backs of his generation, Silva arrived after eight years at Paris Saint-Germain and in his first season at Chelsea won the UEFA Champions League. He played 155 games for the London club and left 12 months ago after helping oversee the development of some of the young talents now featuring regularly under Enzo Maresca. "He's a legend of football, a top player," Marc Cucurella, a teammate of Silva's for two years, told English media, adding that the two had exchanged messages about their impending reunion. "We have the opportunity to play against him again and hopefully we can do good things, win this game and play in the final." Allan Saint-Maximin accuses Mourinho's Fenerbahce side of giving him 'doping products'
Former Newcastle United attacker Allan Saint-Maximin has made a startling allegation about his spell at Fenerbahce with former Roma boss Jose Mourinho. Speaking on the Zack Nani Podcast, Saint-Maximin claimed Fenerbahce tried to pressure him into breaking anti-doping rules. The winger, who joined the club on loan last season from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, made the allegation while explaining why the team failed to win the league title.
