Kerala Industries department takes up rebranding exercise
Following a direction from the State government, the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) carried out the rebranding exercise of the department as well as its affiliated entities after extensive consultations and deliberations.
A new uniform colour scheme and style has been adopted for the name boards of the department and its affiliated entities as part of this. In addition to KSIDC, the district industries centres, industrial estates, entrepreneurship clubs in colleges, the major public sector units, including Malabar Cements, Kerala Minerals and Metals and Keltron, will have the rebranded name boards with a light green tint.
Streamlining business processes
The changes are in line with the steps being taken by the State government over the past few years to streamline business processes and position Kerala as a leading investment-friendly destination.
The government had introduced the Industrial Policy 2023 with an aim to strengthen the industrial ecosystem through the identification of priority sectors and the implementation of targeted incentives and subsidies.
The policy focusses on the State's traditional sectors as well as the sunrise sectors, including artificial Intelligence, hi-tech farming, value-added rubber products, medical equipment, biotechnology, graphene, electric vehicles, and robotics.
The State has also embarked on an initiative to foster an Industry 4.0 ecosystem, centred on the themes of sustainability and balanced development. The initiative is grounded in ESG sustainability principles, which is the foundation for a model of responsible industry and responsible investment.

Seminar held in national capital focusing prospects of Artificial Intelligence in Northeast region
New Delhi [India], July 2 (ANI): A seminar on the prospects and possibilities of artificial intelligence in Northeast India was organised by Society for Harmonising Aspirations for Responsible Engagement (SHARE) here in the national capital's India International Centre on Wednesday. The seminar highlighted the region's pivotal role as a strategic hub for India's future technological advancements and connectivity with Southeast Asia. Eminent government officials and technology industry leaders shared their insights on how AI will reshape governance, economy, culture, and development in the region. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, former Foreign Secretary of India and Head of Global affairs SHARE chaired the session and stressed on the geo-strategic importance of the region: 'North-East India is the gateway to South-East Asia and ASEAN nations. Technological advancement and AI's integration in governance will change the course of administration in the region.' Angshuman Day, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) and currently the Chair of the Steering Committee for AI in North east, highlighted the ongoing Fourth Industrial Revolution. 'Industry 4.0 is transforming rapidly, and it will redefine the economic and technological landscape of the North-East,' he remarked. He suggested a roadmap for AI integration in the states across sectors that DoNER was working on. Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director Asia South, NVIDIA India, mentioned about the possibilities of the north east region mapping its strength and using AI technologies. He also expressed his support for setting up of any AI Factory in Northeast India that will focus on the creation of AI tokens and support indigenous innovation. Arvind Bajaj, CEO Evidien India addressed how AI can help tackle regional challenges. 'The North-East's persistent issues related to water and food scarcity can be resolved with the strategic deployment of AI-based solutions,' Bajaj said. Amit Sharma, Secretary, Department of ICT, Government of Mizoram, added that the state is actively working toward digital governance. The session was moderated by Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Secretary, SHARE. Mahanta is a former DGP, Assam Police. Zoho ramps up robotics research with acquisition of Asimov Robotics
Chennai: In a bid to expand its capabilities in robotics, Zoho Corporation has acquired Kerala-based Asimov Robotics for an undisclosed sum and opened the company's new campus in Kottarakkara in Kollam, Kerala. Founded in 2012, Asimov Robotics specialises in providing robotic solutions to industries for addressing hazardous, inefficient, and repetitive scenarios. With this, Zoho aims to expand its research and development capabilities into robotics and Asimov employees would continue their efforts from the Kottarakkara office with mentorship from Zoho's team, the company said in a statement. Previously Zoho has invested in Thiruvananthapuram-based Genrobotics, a robotics and AI solutions for sanitation and maintenance processes and Karuvi, Chennai-based mechatronics startup designing and developing consumer and industrial power tools. It also has investments in Yali Aerospace, a drone-tech startup and EV maker Ultraviolette, among others. The Kottarakkara campus has a seating capacity of 250, and will initially be dedicated to AI and robotics research. "Apart from our own work in these fields, we also will be collaborating with like-minded deep-tech organisations to further amplify our efforts. Our goal remains the same, to develop these capabilities in India and make the country self-reliant in terms of critical technology," said Shailesh Davey, chief executive and co-founder of Zoho Corp. Dover and RV College of Engineering Partner to Launch State-of-the-Art Laboratory in Hydrogen R&D
In a significant step towards advancing Hydrogen Research and Clean Energy Innovation, Dover India (Part of Dover Corporation), and RV College of Engineering (RVCE), Mysuru Road, Bengaluru, have announced a strategic partnership to establish a state-of-the-art laboratory in Materials and Component Reliability Testing under the Centre for Hydrogen and Green Technology, a Centre of Excellence at RVCE. The lab, to be housed within the RVCE campus, is poised to become a hub for cutting-edge research in hydrogen technologies and advanced material reliability under extreme environments. Team Dover & Team RVCE This collaboration aims to accelerate research in hydrogen systems and, over time, will potentially expand to other emerging areas such as sustainable materials, IoT, and Industry 4.0. The CoE will host state-of-the-art infrastructure developed jointly by researchers from Dover India Innovation Center (DIIC) and RVCE. These facilities, designed according to global standards, are first-of-their-kind in India and are available only in a handful of countries globally.
