Actress Monica Dolan ‘immensely proud' of Post Office campaigners

Speaking as she appeared as the guest on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs, the Mr Bates Vs the Post Office star said she first got the bug for acting at school.
'I just got a feeling from it that I didn't get from anywhere else,' she told presenter Lauren Laverne.
'I think it was basically a feeling of being noticed, or being seen as people now say. I thought, 'I want more of this'.'
Dolan, who won an Olivier award for her role in All About Eve along with a Bafta for Appropriate Adult, received several award nominations for Mr Bates Vs the Post Office.
She told Laverne how she prepared to play the real-life character of subpostmistress Jo Hamilton in the acclaimed ITV drama series based on the true story of Horizon IT scandal.
'I think you have to slightly put yourself in there,' Dolan said.
'You have to think, well if I was this person, how would I behave? I was very lucky with Jo because she was definitely more approachable than most people that I've played.
'One of the things I did very early on actually which was really helpful, which I'd definitely do again, was to ask her – if it wasn't too intrusive, and I felt with her that I could – to ask her to record her life story. Just a little version – like a 15 minute version – up to the point where the script begins – where it all starts.
'That was really useful, waiting for filming – I could listen to her voice, and I'd have her voice in my head, and also I'd have her background in my head.
'That was very useful indeed because you're kind of absorbing that person.'
Dolan also said of those who campaigned for justice following the Post Office scandal: 'I was immensely proud of people, for being that collectively angry.'
The actress, who said her luxury item would be a walk-in wardrobe with a cold glass of champagne and a new outfit for every day inside, said she would also like to take a book on flora and fauna on the island so she could identify what she saw.
Among her desert island disc choices were her childhood favourite The Tra La La Song (One Banana, Two Banana) from the TV show The Banana Splits, MacArthur Park by Richard Harris, and Us Amazonians by the 'tremendous' Kirsty MacColl.

Coronation Street legend Catherine Tyldesley 'will FINALLY return to the cobbles' seven years after quitting

Catherine Tyldesley will reportedly finally make a return to Coronation Street seven years after quitting the coblbes. The actress, 41, became a household name when she was first cast as glamorous barmaid Eva Price on the ITV soap in 2011. She was the on-screen daughter of Stella Price, played by EastEnders star Michelle Collins, who was also the long-lost mother of Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). But Catherine quit the cobbles in 2018, and producers are said to have been trying to entice her back for years, and she will finally begin filming again this summer. It is believed that after some persuading by soap bosses, Eva is going to take over the Rovers Return Inn as will be the brand new landlady, according to The Sun. A source told the publication: 'It's one of the biggest jobs in soap, the landlady of the Rovers Return pub. 'Bosses were desperate to get Cath back, they came up with the perfect storyline with her being unveiled as the new landlady of the Rovers.' Daily Mail has contacted ITV and Catherine's representatives for comment. During her time on the serial, Eva famously had a relationship with Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) but he had an affair with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon). As an act of revenge when she found out, Eva faked a pregnancy and spent Aidan's savings on a pink Range Rover. The pair later become engaged but Maria burst into the wedding to expose the truth about the fake pregnancy. A short time later, Eva discovered that she was actually pregnant with Aidan's baby but agreed to give the child to her half-sister Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor). Soon after that, Aidan took his own life in 2017, and Eva became attached to baby Susie and left the cobbles in the back of a taxi with her. Catherine then starred in the short-lived sitcom Scarborough and played a leading role in Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical, but it was cancelled halfway through the tour amid poor ticket sales. The soap star reunited with her Corrie on-screen boyfriend, X Factor winner Shayne, on The Good Ship Murder, which began airing its second series in January. There was also another Weatherfield reunion when Catherine starred alongside her former co-star Michelle Keegan once again earlier this year. Catherine took on a guest starring role on Michelle's comedy series Brassic, with the pair sharing photographs from set during filming. News of Catherine's comeback comes shortly after she admitted she would 'never say never' to returning to Corrie. She told Prima magazine: ' Coronation Street feels like forever ago, but I always look back with such great fondness 'But if they approached me with an amazing storyline and the time was right, of course, I'd go back. So it's always a case of never say never.'

FORMER Premier League ace Jimmy Bullard is to appear on I'm A Celebrity All Stars. The ex-Fulham midfielder, 46, who later hosted Sky's Soccer AM, has negotiated a deal to take part in the Ant and Dec-hosted ITV series. 1 Former Premier League ace Jimmy Bullard is to appear on I'm A Celebrity All Stars It comes after the Sun on Sunday previously revealed Harry Redknapp, former West Ham manager, where Bullard played in the youth team, has also signed up. Jimmy, famous for his catchphrase 'Football's always the winner', originally took part in I'm A Celeb back in 2014 and had a lads' 'bromance' with eventual winner Racing superbike champ Carl Fogarty, 60. 'He was voted off first last time and he felt he had a lot more to give. "Now he's got the chance to get stuck in again, although he's a bit older so he is worried he might find it harder to rough it. 'His banter is still on top form though. Producers are hopeful he'll have a bromance with Harry Redknapp, who is also taking part.' All Stars will be filmed this autumn in South Africa and be screened in the New Year - after the main version of the I'm A Celebrity show in Australia goes out in November and December. Other celebs taking part in the All Stars version include Strictly love rat Seann Walsh, 39, and Towie star Gemma Collins, 44, who lasted only three days in 2014. All Stars last aired in 2023 when singer Myleene Klass won and it was filmed in South Africa's Kruger National Park. ITV declined to comment.

Love Island star admits she tried to quit series and slams show for using her for storyline

A Love Island star who appeared in Casa Amor this series has revealed she tried to quit the show. Stunning Rheo has said she is 'annoyed' about her experience in the villa after she grew close to ladies' man Harry Cooksley. 4 Rheo, who ended up getting sent home, has revealed she didn't want to do Casa at all. During a Q&A with fans today she said: 'I wanted to be flown home when they told me l was in casa. 'I just knew it wasn't going to be for me.I don't fight for the spotlight and certainly don't fight over a man.' She continued: ' I don't regret it but l'm annoyed that that was my love island experience, because realistically I won't get to do it again and l feel as though I was just a part in a big machine for Harry's storyline.' During her brief stint on the show she was seen chatting to Harry, but admitted she also got to know Conor but it wasn't aired. At first, Harry tried to stay respectful to Helena Ford by sleeping on the daybeds. But he was later seen snogging Rheo in bed and made fans feel sick when he told her that he would give her an orgasm. Teasing sex in their future, he also remarked: "I think we'll maybe see sooner than you think." Viewers were convinced that Harry would bring her back to the main villa and were shocked when he decided to ditch her. Speaking after her exit, Rheo said: She replied: "to be honest, I was as shocked as the rest of the nation, like, it's Harry, to be fair, what did I expect? Love Island's Rheo SLAMS Harry and reveals moment that never made it to air "But I was actually a bit shocked with him, because we did get deep. Harry has a deep level." She continued by branding him a gameplayer saying: "I think he wanted to repair his reputation there. "Just go in, go with Helena, and hopefully get to the end. I know he's got a game plan." Harry did get back with Helena when he returned but just days after going exclusive with her he decided he wanted to be with Shakira. Helena has since been dumped from the island and he is heading towards the final with Shakira. 4 4
