Police track duo over RM111,000 jewellery theft in Shah Alam
SHAH ALAM: Police are tracking down two locals suspected of stealing jewellery worth RM111,743.55 from a gold shop in Shah Alam.
Shah Alam District Police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said based on a report received at 4.55 am yesterday from the shop's salesperson, the two individuals — a man and a woman — had pretended to show interest in purchasing jewellery at about 4 pm on April 26.
'While the complainant was busy retrieving various gold items to show them, the female suspect took several jewellery pieces without the complainant noticing.
'The missing jewellery was only realised after the pair had left, and checks on the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed that the suspect had taken the items while the complainant was distracted,' he said in a statement.
Mohd Iqbal said the stolen items included two 916 gold rings and three 916 gold bracelets, with a total weight of about 244.08 grammes, resulting in a loss of RM111,743.55.
He said the male suspect was reported to have worn a red cap and sunglasses, while the female suspect wore a white cap and a face mask.
'Efforts to track down the suspects are actively ongoing, and the case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code,' he said.

KAJANG: Police have urged a woman, who was caught on camera allegedly stealing a mobile phone from a food outlet at Cheras Trader Square, Batu 9, here on Thursday, to surrender herself. Cops detain two foreigners for allegedly impersonating public servant, fighting
KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained two foreign men suspected of brawling and impersonating a public servant at Jalan Dinar, Taman Subang Perdana, Kampung Baru Subang, Selangor. Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said a call regarding the fight was received at 1.15pm on Saturday (June 28), after which patrol officers were dispatched to the scene. "Upon arriving at the scene, the officers arrested two foreign nationals aged 26 and 32, who were suspected of being involved in the fight. One of the suspects was found handcuffed inside a car. "Preliminary investigations revealed that the fight between the two individuals, who are friends, stemmed from a disagreement over a family matter," he said in a statement on Sunday. He said police seized two Perodua cars found at the scene and a pair of handcuffs, adding that the case is being probed under Section 160 and Section 170 of the Penal Code for causing affray and impersonating a public servant, as well as Section 89 of the Police Act 1967 for the unlawful possession of police equipment. 2 foreigners arrested after fight, one found handcuffed
SUNGAI BULOH: Two foreign men were arrested following a brawl in Kampung Baru Subang here. One of the suspects was already handcuffed when police apprehended him. Sungai Buloh District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Mohd Norin a statement today said the District Control Centre (DCC) received an emergency call at 1.15pm yesterday about a fight at Jalan Dinar, Taman Subang Perdana. "A patrol unit was immediately despatched to the scene, where both suspects, aged 26 and 32, were detained. "One of them was found inside a vehicle with handcuffs on his wrist," he said. Hafiz said police also seized a pair of handcuffs and two Myvi cars from both the suspects and took them back to the headquarters for questioning. "The case is being investigated under multiple legal provisions, including Section 160 of the Penal Code for committing affray, Section 170 of the Penal Code for impersonating a public servant and Section 89 of the Police Act 1967 for possessing police equipment without permission," he said. He said the suspects would also be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for entering or staying in Malaysia without valid documents, which carries a sentence of up to five years' imprisonment, a fine not exceeding RM10,000, or both, including the possibility of up to six strokes of the cane. Police have urged the public not to speculate on the incident and encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
