Mahhi Vij sets the record straight on divorce rumours with Jay Bhanushali: ‘Why should I tell you?'
Mahhi Vij addresses divorce rumours
Mahhi spoke about her personal life and the buzz that she is heading for divorce in the Male Feminist podcast.
'Even if it is the case, why should I tell you? Are you my uncle? Will you pay my lawyer's fee? Why do people make such a big deal out of somebody's divorce or separation? I see people writing in my comments section, 'Mahi toh decent hai, Jay aisa hai' (She is decent, but Jay is not). Then somebody else writes, 'Jay accha hai, Mahi hi aise hai' (Jay is good, but she is not). They just want to blame someone. Do you even know the truth? What do you know?" she said.
The actor added, 'Here, people look at single mothers and divorces very differently. They assume there's going to be drama now that it'll turn into a big issue, that the two will start throwing mud at each other. I feel there's a lot of pressure from society. Just live and let live."
More about the couple
Mahhi gained popularity with her roles of Nakusha in Laagi Tujhse Lagan and Nandini in Balika Vadhu. She got married to actor Jay Bhanushali in 2011. In 2017, they fostered a boy, Rajveer, and a girl, Khushi. The couple's first biological child, a daughter named Tara, was born in 2019.
Mahhi and Jay won the dance reality show Nach Baliye 5 in 2013. She was also a contestant on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4 and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 7. She has also been featured in several music videos.

Over the years, IVF has gained popularity, with many celebrities openly sharing their personal experiences. From Mahhi Vij to Sambhavna Seth, several actresses have spoken about their IVF journeys, helping to remove the stigma around fertility treatments. Kriti Sanon received a National Award for her powerful performance, alongside Pankaj Tripathi. The film won praise for handling a sensitive topic with grace and empathy. Bad Newz (2024) A spiritual sequel to Good Newwz, this film starred Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk. Directed by Anand Tiwari, the movie explored an unconventional pregnancy twist, continuing the conversation around fertility and parenthood with humour and heart. Pratyusha Banerjee Had Not Left Balika Vadhu On A Good Note: 'There Were Differences'
Last Updated: Pratyusha Banerjee was found dead on April 1, 2016. Since then, her former boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh has been making several allegations. Pratyusha Banerjee rose to fame after she played the role of Anandi in the popular show Balika Vadhu. However, she left the show in March 2013. The actress then passed away in 2016, allegedly by suicide and ever since, her former boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh has made several allegations. Now, Singh has claimed Pratyusha had not left Balika Vadhu on a good note. In a recent interview, the late actress' ex-boyfriend argued that Pratyusha quit Balika Vadhu due to 'creative differences" with the makers. Not just this, he also accused the makers of the popular show of non-payment. 'She hadn't left Balika Vadhu on a good note either. So obviously, production houses won't call you back. She told me there were creative differences with the team, too much interference from her side, they said. And then there was a payment issue with DJs. Her payment had been stuck for six months, so maybe that led to more problems. These things happen in production. Plus, her expenses were so high, her father's and mother's too, that she could never really stop working. Like we discussed earlier, they had loans to repay, so she had to keep earning. But when payments didn't come on time, she would get frustrated, and relationships in the industry would spoil. She'd call again and again, asking for her money," Singh told Bollywood Bubble. Pratyusha Banerjee died on April 1, 2016, allegedly by suicide. Following her death, her parents filed a complaint against Rahul Singh. He was booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt). In 2023, a sessions court in Mumbai rejected Singh's discharge plea. In the plea, he claimed that he was falsely implicated in the case on account of 'personal vendetta". However, the court mentioned that prima facie it was clear that 'physical, emotional and financial harassment and exploitation" by Rahul landed the Balika Vadhu actress in depression.
