Woman Says Her Co-Worker Told Her She Looks ‘Flat' and ‘Tired' — So Here's How She Responded to That Colleague
A Reddit user shared her 50-something colleague's unsolicited remarks that caught her off guard at work
'I thought I looked nice,' the 27-year-old remembered thinking after that co-worker said she looked 'very flat' and 'tired'
A fellow Redditor replied, 'You don't comment on people's looks unless they can fix it within 10 seconds (food in teeth) or a quick bathroom break (a stain or mark somewhere)'One woman's lunch break at work took an unexpected turn when her colleague made unsolicited remarks about her appearance.
The 27-year-old employee explained on Reddit's 'Am I the A------' forum what her 50-something co-worker said to her — and how she reacted to it.
'I was sitting in a semi-private sitting area watching Instagram Reels on my phone with my headphones in. I don't like to chat on my breaks so I usually keep my head down,' she wrote. 'I saw someone in my peripheral and looked up to find my co-worker waving to get my attention.'
'I took my headphones out and the first thing she said was, 'You look very flat today.' I was pretty taken aback,' she continued. 'I thought I looked nice, but I hadn't done anything different than usual, and I was interacting with people as I normally do, so it wasn't based on my personality.'
Feeling 'embarrassed,' the woman replied, 'Geez, thanks,' to which the colleague then added that she also looked 'tired.'
'I replied that she didn't look great either. I meant it to be playful but I could tell from her face that the joke didn't land, so I said sorry and that I was just joking, but she rolled her eyes and walked away,' she recalled.
The woman, who admitted that her response was 'quite rude,' also said this isn't the first incident with this colleague, who in the past has made several 'rude' statements about her appearance.

Wondering if she overreacted, she asked Redditors, 'Am I the a------ for returning my co-workers comment to her?'
Fellow Redditors were quick to validate the woman's reaction.
'Did her parents teach her nothing? You don't comment on people's looks unless they can fix it within 10 seconds (food in teeth) or a quick bathroom break (a stain or mark somewhere),' one reader commented. 'If she said, 'You look flat, are you alright?' that would be fine, but it sounds like she was definitely putting you down. She got what she deserved.'
Another person offered a sentence for the woman to use next time the colleague remarks on her appearance: 'You look reportable to HR today.'

Less than two months after it first hit the market for $12.5 million, David Duchovny's longtime home in the coveted Point Dume enclave of Malibu has sold to an unidentified buyer for just under $11 million. And though that's considerably less than he originally wanted, it's still around $6.2 million more than the veteran film and TV actor paid Hollywood writer/producer Chris Carter for the landlocked 1950s spread nine years ago, back in spring 2016. Since then, the X-Files and Californication star has extensively renovated and expanded the premises. Most notably, he kitted out an existing train caboose where he went on to pen his 2021 novel Truly Like Lightning and record episodes of his Fail Better podcast. Ariana, 23, opened up about The Real Housewives of Atlanta star's financial woes on the Sunday, June 29, episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. 'The only time my mom asks me for money is if it's regarding the bills or it's something that she needs for the kids, and then she pays me back when she can,' Ariana said. She went on to say that Zolciak, 47, has also borrowed money from her older sister, Brielle Biermann. When Cohen, 57, asked Ariana if she felt resentment towards her mother over the family's finances, she replied, 'My mom, no matter what, will be my best friend forever. And money should never ruin a relationship with your family. You can always make more money, and God blesses us in that way. I have my mom, and that's all that matters.' Ariana shut down a question regarding her mother's gambling habits, declining to comment on the matter at all. She went on to discuss her own relationship with Kroy, 39, amid the divorce.
