Will there be a Happy Gilmore 3? Here's what director Kyle Newacheck said
The release of Happy Gilmore 2 is one that has been thirty years in the waiting. Following its premiere on Netflix last week, fans have already started wondering whether they can get their hopes up in favor of receiving a third part of the beloved franchise anytime soon. Fans are buzzing about a possible Happy Gilmore 3 after the success of Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix.(Netflix/X) The first film, originally released in 1996, follows the story of a hockey player who discovers his hidden talent for golf and uses that to his advantage to help raise money for his financially-strained grandmother. Following in the same spirit, the sequel tells the tale of him trying to raise money for his daughter's ballet school. Will there be a Happy Gilmore 3? As of now, there is no official confirmation on whether such a film is in production. When asked if producer and star Adam Sandler had any plans of making a third sequel, director Kyle Newacheck revealed to The Direct, 'I don't know. I wouldn't be too forward. I would be too forward to even think about it right now. The first one took a 29-year gestation period before they figured out what the second one is. I feel like whatever I come up with right now is going to be, not it, homie.' Since the recent installment took thirty years for getting the right script and three years of production (Sandler started working on the script in 2022), chances of a third sequel being released or starting anytime soon look incredibly slim. Such a decision would be based on the kind of audience reception the second installment receives. Is Adam Sandler interested? Sandler has not publicly spoken about working on Happy Gilmore 3, although he is interested in creating a sequel for another one of his beloved movies from the past: The Waterboy. 'That would be fun as hell. I love Mama. I love Henry Winkler. I mean, come on. He's always gonna be Coach Klein to me. But, I don't know, man, it's funny. I don't know what the ideas [would be],' he said in a 2022 interview with Variety's Award Circuit podcast. Interestingly, this is the same place where Sandler had announced plans for Happy Gilmore 2 as well. As of now, Sandler's schedule is relatively empty, with only one film (Noah Baumbach's Jay Kelly) scheduled in his upcoming releases. His untitled project with the Safdie brothers hasn't received any updates since 2023. By Stuti Gupta

Netflix's wild new show used AI to create special effects: Why it matters
Netflix is taking a bold step into artificial intelligence by using video-generating AI for special effects in its new Argentine science fiction series, 'El Eternauta.' This development comes as the company, among many others, looks for faster and cheaper ways to create detailed visual effects and bring stories to life on screen. Ted Sarandos, the co-CEO of Netflix, explained that the company wants AI to help creators improve the quality of films and shows, not just to save money or reduce production time. For 'El Eternauta,' a key sequence shows a building collapsing in Buenos Aires. Instead of using traditional visual effects methods, the team tried AI-powered tools. According to Sarandos, this made the process much faster, finishing the sequence in a small fraction of the time it would usually take, Ars Technica reported. How AI will help Netflix Shows like 'El Eternauta' require massive amounts of VFX work, and using AI promises an easier way to manage tight budgets and deadlines. Complex shots, once reserved for big-budget films, are now possible for shows that would not have been able to afford them before. Netflix hopes the technology will open up new creative options for filmmakers and give more projects access to advanced effects. Also read Looking for a smartphone? To check mobile finder click here. Still, the rise of AI in TV and films has caused concern within the industry. Actors, writers, and artists are asking for clear rules to protect their jobs as studios adopt AI tools. Last year's extended strikes by performers and game voice actors were signs of growing anxiety about how this technology could change work across entertainment. Some viewers and critics are also wary. AI-generated effects do not always look natural and have attracted criticism for disrupting the feel of a film or show. There have been recent complaints about the quality of AI visuals in several big projects, sparking debates about the artistic value of computer-created images. Netflix has tested AI's potential in other areas before. Past documentaries have used AI to recreate voices or manipulate images, drawing both attention and controversy. Amazon and other major platforms are exploring similar paths, adding AI features for recapping shows or creating new language dubs. Sarandos says the aim remains to give storytellers more tools. He believes AI can stretch what is possible in television without limiting creative vision or replacing human ideas. The effect of these changes is still playing out, but Netflix's experiment with 'El Eternauta' suggests that AI is becoming an important part of TV and movie production.

Khushi Kapoor's old interview choosing Ahaan Panday over Aryan Khan resurfaces; netizens say ‘If she was in Saiyaara…'
Chunky Panday's nephew and Ananya Panday's cousin brother Ahaan Panday is currently one of the most sought after star kids of the industry. The credit goes to his incredible performance in his Bollywood debut film Saiyaara. Directed by Mohit Suri and backed by YRF, the musical romantic drama also marks Aneet Padda's film debut. After witnessing the heights that Ahaan has reached today, many of his fellow star kids would love to work with him. But did you know Janhvi Kapoor's sister Khushi Kapoor chose Ahaan, all thanks to his acting talent, years ago? Khushi Kapoor, Ahaan Panday and Aryan Khan Back in 2019, much before she made her acting debut, Khushi Kapoor joined her actor sister Janhvi Kapoor on Neha Dhupia's talk show. During her appearance, Khushi was asked to choose a co-star for her debut film. The list included Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, Ananya Panday's cousin Ahaan Panday and Jaaved Jaaferi's son Meezaan Jaaferi. Khushi replied, 'I have only seen Ahaan act out of the three of them, so I guess it would be like, the safest option.' However, her sister had a different opinion. Janhvi, who made her debut a year ago with Dhadak (2018), shared, 'I would want her to debut opposite Meezaan.' Khushi went on to debut in 2023 with The Archies alongside SRK's daughter Suhana Khan, Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda and her rumoured boyfriend Vedang Raina. Well, netizens are glad Khushi was not a part of Ahaan's debut film. Under this viral interview, one such social media user opined, 'If Khushi was in Saiyara it would have flopped. Aneet's acting was a major part of the success,' whereas another netizen claimed, 'Thank godddd this did not work out!!! She would have ruined his debut and the movie would have tanked really bad!!' A fan of Ahaan's wrote, '6 years old post. Now every nations actress would choose an Ahaan pandey film over other projects. Bro has literally killed it and how, while being so humble and passionate about the art form.' Khushi and Ahaan are yet to announce their next films. Meanwhile, Aryan is all set to make his directorial debut with the upcoming Netflix show The Ba***ds of Bollywood. We wish them all good luck!
