New Zealand crushes Zimbabwe by 60 runs to keep perfect record at T20 tri-series
Tim Seifert (75) smashed his second successive half century and Rachin Ravindra made an entertaining 63 runs off 39 balls as New Zealand posted the tournament's highest total of 190-6 with its fourth straight win of the league stage.
New Zealand and South Africa had already secured their places in Saturday's final.
Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi, one of four changes for New Zealand, grabbed a career-best 4-12 in four overs as Zimbabwe was dismissed for 130 in 18.5 overs.
Zimbabwe lost all four games.
Supreme Seifert
Mitchell Santner became the first captain in the tournament to choose to bat first on a tricky wicket after winning the toss.
Tim Robinson (10) couldn't capitalize on Ryan Burl's dropped catch in the slips before he had scored and was out to Zimbabwe's best bowler, Richard Ngarava (4-34).
Zimbabwe was scrappy in the field when Seifert got a lucky escape on 13 as Tony Munyonga missed a catching opportunity at deep backward square leg.
Together with Ravindra, Seifert raised 108 runs for the second wicket before Zimbabwe hit back.
Fast bowler Tinotenda Maposa had both Ravindra and Mark Chapman caught in the outfield in the space of three balls and Ngarava chipped in with three wickets in his return spell.
Seifert feathered a catch to wicketkeeper Clive Madande after Ngarava outfoxed him with a slower ball while Bevon Jacobs was spectacularly caught by Munyonga at backward point.
Michael Bracewell made a 16-ball 26 and Trevor Gwandu (0-51) went for 21 runs off his final over.
'Different guys stepping up at different times is a good thing, although it can be a selection headache at times," Santner said. We know we have a massive game in a couple of days' time.'
Sodhi strikes
Zimbabwe opener Dion Myers (22) smashed four boundaries in a brisk start before Sodhi struck three times inside the batting powerplay and the hosts were reduced to 37-4.
Sodhi clean bowled Myers and Madande after Brian Bennett was caught when he failed to clear Jacobs at extra cover as he tried to show early aggression against the leg-spinner.
Off-spinner Bracewell made it 44-5 when he took a well judged caught-and-bowled off Burl's miscued hit before Munyonga (40 in 30) and Tashinga Musekiwa (21) resisted with a 51-run partnership.
Sodhi returned in the 14th over and picked up his 150th T20 wicket when Munyonga holed out at long-off.
New Zealand's pace then finished off the tail in quick succession with Matt Henry taking 2-34.
'We keep digging ourselves a hole and when we try to climb out of it, we don't,' Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza said.
'The catches we dropped hurt us. As much as we wanted to be upbeat, it took us a bit of time to get into the game. One of the things I will speak (to players) is that it is never a dead rubber for Zimbabwe.'

Michigan Discussing Kicking Off 2026 Football Season in Germany
Michigan is having discussions about kicking off the 2026 football season against Western Michigan in Germany. The school announced Friday on social media that it is seeking to play at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt on Aug. 29, 2026. It would be the first game the Wolverines would play outside of North America. Athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement this would be a "first-of-its-kind opportunity" for the Wolverines and their fans. "The University of Michigan is one of the few worldwide brands in college athletics and the interest in playing an international game would be unique," Manuel said. "This would be a great opportunity to teach 'Go Blue' to a new group of fans in Germany." Home to Eintracht Frankfurt of Bundesliga, the stadium features a retractable roof with a capacity of 55,000. Deutsche Bank Park has hosted five NFL games, including two regular-season games in 2023. Michigan coach Sherrone Moore said they're always looking for unique opportunities for their players, noting the program has been to Italy, France and South Africa over the past decade. The game would require a rescheduling of Michigan's home opener that's currently set for Sept. 5. "This game would provide another chance to grow our international fanbase," Moore said. American football isn't new to traveling overseas and this isn't the first time the college game has made its way overseas. There have been bowl games and annual Classics played overseas since 1976. Grambling State beat Morgan State, 42-16, in the Mirage Bowl in Tokyo, Japan. Grambling would return to Tokyo, defeating Temple in 1977, 35-32. The Mirage Bowl was an annual bowl game in Japan until 1993, featuring powerhouse programs like Notre Dame, Miami, Nebraska, USC, Oregon and Clemson. The Mirage Bowl was replaced by the Coca-Cola Bowl the following year and was shortly discontinued after two years. Japan wasn't the only place the NCAA traveled to promote the game. Dublin, Ireland has hosted collegiate games, most recently last season when Georgia Tech upset, at the time, No. 10 Florida State in Week 0. The first game to be played in Ireland was in 1988 between Boston College and Army. Boston College won 38-24. The collegiate game has traveled as far as Australia, when Colorado State took on Brigham Young University (BYU) in 1987. BYU won 30-26. The Sydney College Football Cup returned in 2016 and 2017; California trounced Hawai'i, 51-21, in 2016. In 2017, Stanford routed Rice, 62-7. The NFL has also made the move to spread the game overseas, in its "International Series", playing regular-season games in Europe, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Brazil. England captain Stokes 'good to go', says Pope
England captain Ben Stokes will be "good to go" on day four of the fourth Test against India having suffered with cramp during the third day, says vice-captain Ollie Pope. Stokes, 34, retired hurt on 66 in the evening session, but did return after the fall of three wickets to end 77 not out as his side reached a dominant position of 544-7, a first-innings lead of 186. The all-rounder had surgery on his hamstring in January after tearing it for the second time in five months in December but has bowled more overs in this series than any other in his career. "He is just cramping down his left leg and it spread to his whole leg from what I understand," Pope said. "He has pushed himself to some serious limits so far and that was a build-up of it.
