Italian Journalist Delivers Huge Update On Ongoing Transfer Saga Involving Inter Milan & Atalanta Star: 'He Wants Inter'

Yahoo5 days ago
Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni has offered a fresh update on the ongoing transfer saga between Inter Milan and Ademola Lookman.
According to the Corriere dello Sport editor-in-chief via FCInter1908, the Nigerian is desperate to join the Nerazzurri.
Talks between Inter Milan and Atalanta for Ademola Lookman are ongoing.
However, the clubs have yet to find common ground.
After seeing their opening bid rejected by La Dea earlier this month, Inter tabled a new offer earlier today.
Indeed, Beppe Marotta met with Luca Percassi to discuss the 27-year-old's future.
The two met face-to-face at the League Council, shortly before the Nerazzurri lodged an improved bid for Lookman.
Atalanta's stance, however, remains unchanged.
La Dea have slapped a €50 million price tag on their prized asset and are sticking to their valuation.
On the other hand, Inter have increased their offer from €40 million to €45 million, including bonuses.
Yet, it may not be enough to get Atalanta's green light.

Despite Lookman's desire to continue his career at San Siro, Atalanta could spoil Inter's plans.
Furthermore, they've become notorious for dragging clubs into protracted talks.
Only last summer, Percassi made Juventus wait until late August to sign Teun Koopmeiners.
However, the Serie A runners-up are keen to avoid the same scenario.
Therefore, they've included an expiration date in their latest proposal.
Meanwhile, Zazzaroni confirms Lookman's intention to force the transfer.
'Lookman, the series,' he started. 'Atalanta, having sold Retegui, must stand firm because they have a responsibility to their people.
'And the price is €50 million. Lookman wants to join Inter, in keeping with a promise made to him a year ago.
'That's the key to everything. It's a repeat of the Koopmeiners case.
'Same ending? Three episodes in one day – forget Temptation Island.'

Scamacca marks return to Atalanta action with big goal

Amid the Ademola Lookman controversy, there is at least some good news for Atalanta, as Gianluca Scamacca scored in a 2-1 friendly win over RB Leipzig, a year after his devastating knee injury. La Dea are distracted right now by the news Lookman handed in a formal transfer request, trying to push through his move to Inter. Meanwhile, his teammates were in action last night with a 2-1 friendly victory over RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena. Loic Openda had opened the scoring early on, but Scamacca came off the bench at half-time and scored a well-taken individual goal on Daniel Maldini's assist. Youth player Lorenzo Bernasconi sealed the late winner on the volley. (Photo by) It was a big moment for Scamacca, who this time a year ago suffered a devastating anterior cruciate ligament injury in his knee that kept him out for over six months. Just as he made his comeback for five minutes in February against Torino, the former West Ham United striker then sustained another serious injury, this time to his thigh. That was the only game of his entire 2024-25 campaign, so this is going to be a fresh start for the 26-year-old. 'It has been a truly complicated year for me, staying away from the pitch, my teammates, and the daily life of a football player,' he told 'It was not easy, but it is in the past now. The worst is behind me, and I am ready to look forward. I can say that I learned a lot from this experience, both as a player and a person.'

Report – Inter Milan Ready To Push For Atalanta Talisman After Transfer Request

Inter Milan are ready to push for the signing of Ademola Lookman after the player publicly demanded a transfer from Atalanta. This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri are not considering any Plan B or backup targets. In another bombshell in what has become a full-blown transfer soap opera, Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman made a public statement in which he handed in a transfer request. The 27-year-old accused his club of breaking a promise to sell him. He further described 'poor treatment' due to La Dea's refusals to sanction a transfer. This after Atalanta had rejected two offers from Inter to sign Lookman. The second of which reached €45 million including add-ons. (Photo by) Lookman's previous gesture of removing all mentions of Atalanta from his social media accounts was not exactly subtle. But the former RB Leipzig forward has now taken things to another level. Lookman is extremely publicly pushing to leave Atalanta. And according to Sky Sport Italia, this will embolden Inter to return to the table to try and seal a deal for Lookman. Despite the evident reluctance on the part of Atalanta. Sky note that there are a few names that have bounced around as potential alternatives to Lookman. Christopher Nkunku and Jadon Sancho among them. But the broadcaster report that Inter aren't really considering these at the moment. They're ready to go all-in to sign Lookman.

Ademola Lookman says he has handed in Atalanta transfer request, alleges ‘broken promises, poor treatment'

Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman says he has handed in a formal transfer request and alleged he has been the subject of 'poor treatment' from the Serie A club. In a statement posted on social media on Sunday, Lookman claimed Atalanta's hierarchy have gone back on promises and are blocking a potential move away. Advertisement 'There have been numerous clubs approach Atalanta in the past and I have previously always stayed loyal,' Lookman said. 'However, myself and the ownership of the club have been in agreement that now is the right time and the club were clear with me that if a fair offer came in they would allow me to move. 'Despite now receiving an offer in alignment to what I believe had been discussed sadly the club are blocking the opportunity for reasons I do not understand. 'As a result and after many months of broken promises and what I feel has been poor treatment towards me as both a human being and as a professional footballer, sadly I feel I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right and I feel that enough is enough. I can confirm I have now handed in a formal transfer request.' The Athletic has approached Atalanta for comment. Lookman, 27, joined Atalanta in the summer of 2022 from RB Leipzig. He scored 20 goals and provided seven assists last season, finishing as Serie A's third highest goalscorer. He has recorded 52 goals and 25 assists in 118 matches for the club, and scored a hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final victory over Bayer Leverkusen — Atalanta's first major trophy in 60 years. Reports in Italy in recent weeks have linked Lookman with a move to Inter, who finished second in Serie A last term and will play Champions League football during the 2025-26 campaign. The Athletic reported in early July that the forward had also been discussed by Arsenal, but the club had been unwilling to match Atalanta's valuation, while he attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024. Lookman said he has 'always worn the shirt with pride' and tried to represent Atalanta 'with heart, passion and dedication'. 'Winning the Europa League and standing shoulder to shoulder with my teammates that night in Dublin celebrating with our fans was one of the proudest moments of my career,' he wrote, adding: 'That's what makes writing this so hard. I have loved every moment but feel that now, after three wonderful years in Bergamo, it is the right time to move on and experience a new adventure.' Advertisement In February, Atalanta's head coach Gian Piero Gasperini said Lookman was 'one of the worst penalty takers I have ever seen' after the Nigeria international missed a spot kick in the Italian side's 5-1 aggregate defeat to Club Brugge in the Champions League knockout play-off round. Lookman came on as a substitute with his side already 5-1 down on aggregate, scoring immediately after his introduction before missing the spot kick. The forward responded to being 'singled out' by saying Gasperini's remarks were 'deeply disrespectful'. Lookman came through the Charlton Athletic academy before joining Everton in 2017. He signed for Leipzig on loan before transferring to the German club permanently in 2019. After returning to England in loan spells with Fulham and Leicester, he joined Atalanta.
