UK couple found guilty of killing baby daughter while on the run
Constance Marten – whose father was once a page to the late Queen Elizabeth – and Mark Gordon went to live 'off-grid' in late 2022 when Marten was pregnant after their previous children were taken into care, prosecutors said.
'Their selfish desire to keep their baby girl led inexorably to the death of that very baby,' prosecutor Tom Little said at the start of their trial at London's Old Bailey Court earlier this year.
Marten, 38, and Gordon, 51, slept for several weeks in a tent in southern England during freezing winter temperatures, part of what Little described as the couple's 'arrogant and ultimately grossly negligent conduct'.

2 men who cut down UK's beloved ‘Robin Hood Tree' jailed for over 4 years
Two men found guilty of the 'mindless' and 'deliberate' felling of one of the UK's most iconic trees, which sparked national outrage, were on Tuesday jailed for more than four years. A jury at Newcastle Crown Court found former friends Daniel Graham, 39, and Adam Carruthers, 32, guilty in May of criminal damage for the 2023 felling of the tree at Sycamore Gap. It had stood for nearly 200 years next to Hadrian's Wall, a Unesco World Heritage site in northern England. The tree was so striking that it featured in the 1991 Hollywood film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Sentencing the pair at the same court, Judge Christina Lambert said their actions had involved a 'high degree of planning and preparation' and caused widespread 'shock and bewilderment'. For those who lived in the county the tree had become 'a landmark, a symbol of the beauty of its untamed landscape', she said. Graham and Carruthers each received a sentence of four years and three months. Both men were convicted on two counts of criminal damage to the sycamore and to the Roman wall, which was damaged when the tree fell on it.

UK ‘MasterChef' host Gregg Wallace dropped from show after sexual misconduct report
The BBC said on Monday it would no longer work with MasterChef host Gregg Wallace after a report found that dozens of misconduct allegations made against the hit UK cooking show presenter were upheld. The report, led by a law firm, said 45 out of the 83 allegations made against Wallace during his time on the show between 2005 and 2018 were substantiated. It said most of the claims related to 'inappropriate sexual language and humour', with a smaller number of allegations about Wallace 'being in a state of undress' and one incident of unwelcome physical contact. Wallace, 60, stepped away from hosting the hit BBC reality show, which is made by an independent production company, last year while an investigation was launched into allegations by several women that he made inappropriate sexual comments and behaved inappropriately for almost two decades. The BBC has come under pressure over how it handles sexual misconduct allegations and how Wallace has continued to front some of its most popular shows for so long despite the complaints. The broadcaster issued a statement of apology, adding Wallace's 'return to MasterChef is untenable'.
